  1. So we've managed to miss out on £400,000? Fantastic business there Souey. I thought of using that line LeChuck, but I don't remember seeing any confirmation that Pompey actually did make an offer. Surely not?
  2. According to SSN, it's a loan deal to take Yorke to the end of his contract. So no fee, and unless someone else comes in, the only back-up strikers to Dickov and Stead are Jansen and Gally.
  3. It seems like I'm in the minority here, but I reckon rovers are making a big mistake if they let Matt go. I still believe the lad has it in him. It just isn't going to show in the reserves.
  4. I've got you down, remind me later.
  5. All sorted. For the first of the two centre half positions, we will have a list of up to 15 nominations of all the best centre halves [probably nowhere near that though]. The first C.H will be chosen from that entire list. The next C.H. will be chosen, in the next poll, from the same list - minus the first player to be voted in. I reckon if we simply had two different lists, the best two C.H's could be in the same list and that wouldn't be fair. Also, if we have one list and we choose the top two voted players, one player could be so far in front, that the second player could be voted in with a very small percentage of the vote. [as is possible with the C.F. position, i.e. Shearer.] The same for the C.M and strikers. The next position to be nominated, after the goalkeeper has been chosen, will be the R.B. Henning Berg will be down as a R.B, but if he isn't voted in for that position, he will be nominated for the C.H spot, because obviously he played in both positions. Does that make any sense?
  6. Good questions and honest answers. Thanks a lot both of you.
  7. The last chance to vote on the 'keeper will be this Tuesday. On Wednesday we can move on to the best ever right back.
  8. You should vote Philly. The idea is to assess what some of the others, who have seen them, have said about past players. There aren't many on this site who have seen everyone on the shortlist, but they can still listen to those who have and cast a vote. The more votes there are, the more likely we are to get the right players in.
  9. Well at the moment, there's only 4% between the top two. Opinions chaps - do you think 2 weeks is too long to run each position for. Would, say 10 days be better? Votes are still coming, although slowly at the moment. I thought about 1 week at first, but thought that might exclude some of the folks on holiday. The keeper, full backs and wingers will pretty much sort a short list out for themselves, but I'll say this-I didn't realise how many class strikers and midfielders rovers have had over the years.
  10. short. When we drew 2-2 with em Sherwood at O.T.
  11. I think we'll put that down as a draw, then get back on topic, please
  12. I remember watching John Butcher, didn't really rate him as a top keeper. As for a penalty stopper-I don't remember that.
  13. The signing has been confirmed on the official site. As our Norwegian friends told us last night, a four year contract for an undisclosed sum. Rovers have until 5 pm today, to obtain international clearance, to allow him to play against Man U tomorrow. Official site
  14. Do you mean THIS article from yesterday?
  15. Has this been posted?
  16. Arnold came from non-league, I think. Stafford Rangers? He was a fantastic keeper at the time he played for rovers, one of the most agile I've ever seen.
  17. I could be wrong about this, but I think if he signs before 12 noon, he could play on Wednesday.
  18. If there was, there isn't now.
  19. thanks bob.
  20. I can only tell you what was said on the local radio. Definately said that was the end of the matter. In fact the headline was "rovers end their interest in Pedersen" Maybe since then, Tromso have gone back to rovers? Back to paper hanging.
  21. Ok, I've hung that piece. radio Lancs quoted John Williams as saying rovers had made another bid, but that had been rejected by Tromso and as far as he was concerned, that was the end of the matter.
  22. Radio Lancs reporting that rovers have ended their interest in pedersen. Also, Fergy's ban confirmed. I'll be back when I've hung this piece of wallpaper.
  23. This translation is on the Official site's m/b: The board supplied by head coach Høgmo has tonight discussed the offer from Blackburn for Morten Gamst Pedersen. In it's present form it's not agreeable but there is a good foundation for furter negotiations. This means that there is a certain possiblity for the transfer to through if Blackburn shows willingness to negtiotiate. Bjørn Tore Markussen, daily leader of Tromsø explains: - This is not an easy issue for the club. We have a lot of considerations to make - to the player, to our ambitions on the field, the supporters, our economy, our sponsors, and the club's reputation. - The main conclusion is that the offer is of such value that we have decided to try an honest effort to reach an agreement. Primary because we feel that Morten through his performances and loyalty to the club deserves it. When he wants this so much, we will try to assist his wishes, although we must preserve the club's interests. - The offer is traditionaly build up. It contains a certain guaranteed fee, a performance related and a sell on clause. The total frame is good, but we're not satisfied with how it's split. - TIL (Tromsø) have had direct contact with Blackburn tonight and will put forward a new suggestion. If this is considered constructive by the other part, closing negotiations will take part in the near future.
  24. This is the worrying part Rich. He has a full squad [virtually], but hasn't got the confidence to pick his best starting eleven and stick with it. If he hasn't got that confidence at this stage of the season, I can only presume this is way it will continue. I don't see any reason why things will change, it was chop and change all the way last year. That's not fair on anyone, including the players.
  25. I said it after the west brom game, but if Souness doesn't have the confidence to play a stable 4-4-2 against them and Southampton - teams who are gonna struggle, then it's going to be another long, hard season. You would think we were hard hit by injuries judging by team selection, but he has virtually a full squad to pick from.
