  1. It could be..if he got injured. If he just doesn't score or play well, he could be looking at a recently relegated club being his best option, not a PL one. He isn't a proven player.
  2. It's realistic 🙂 Wad Dack injured when he signed that?
  3. He is absolutely not considering that as a good option. His stock is high now. He will be given opportunities in the PL with whatever team he moves to. If he stays and gets injured ,we have discussed, if he stays and plays poorly, he might not even get a PL club. They have many options and he would be yesterday's man. He's not a proven player at this stage. This is his opportunity to go to the PL, it might be his only one. I agree that it seems nobody has him as their number 1 target, but for £15 million plus add ons, someone will make it happen. That's a good deal for them. It's not for us, but that's cos his contract has run down.
  4. Ya have to. As I said above, he might never make it to the PL if he doesn't go now. You have to take that chance as a player. Staying here is the gamble for him. I don't want him to stay under any circumstances. It's in neither parties favour. Edit- apart from him signing a new deal right now!
  5. Which doesn't alter the fact it could happen. If he stays and does any kind of serious injury, he might never make it to the PL and I'm sure him and his agent know that. Everybody wants a deal to be done, but I think the club is right to have a price that they want met. What's in our favour is the amount of clubs interested....
  6. I know you think he's crap, but not many would have said Dack will do his ACL TWICE. If his agent is advising him to go that route, he's an absolute moron. I would presume he's not. In fact I'm 100% he isn't. It certainly wouldn't be in the clubs interest to take that gamble.
  7. Lot of hypotheticals there. You don't know if he would even sign. Plus he might not be the same player ever again. Not an ideal situation to be in.
  8. It's a slim risk, until it happens and as I said if it takes a leg break for him to sign a new deal here, no thanks.
  9. All world class players ,who even if they got injured, would get top clubs, with big signing on fees. It's not in Armstrong or the clubs interest for him to go into the last year of his contact here
  10. McBurnie is an interesting comparison. Struggled for goals ya, but he always looks a handful when I watched them. I think it's safe to say he gives more to the all round team than Armstrong does/would. Up against top centre halves I thought McBurnie did well physically. Armstrong had the luxury here of been able to miss a good few chances per game and go on barren runs. Hat tricks against steam rolled opposition and taking penalties buffed up his numbers. At a PL club he's going to be expected to put the ball in the net or vastly improve his all round game. He has shown he can score all types of a goals , so it it could work out for him somewhere in the PL I feel. I think he will have to hit the ground running though. If he goes 10 games without a goal , it would be hard to see him turning things around
  11. Why would he sign that if he hasn't signed already? He doesn't want to be here. The only reason a deal here would look good to him is if he got injured. What if he's not the same player mentally and physically after an injury that has him out for a year? We would have needlessly smashed our wage stucture for a player that doesn't want to be here It would he great if no one reaches the valuation and he just decides to do the right thing by the club and sign a 3 year deal, but in these situations players typically sulk and down tools.
  12. That's your example? 🤣 Yes, it is true Buffon left on a free. He's also a 43 year old goalkeeper who spent 19 years at Juventus and won pretty much every accolade a player in his position could win and is widely regarded my many to be the best goalkeeper of his generation. Armstrong staying here next season with a year on his deal benefits nobody and would be a huge gamble for him and the club. If it takes a leg break for him to sign a new deal here, I'll pass. The deal needs to be done asap and we move on
  13. Give them so The only thing we have in our favour is many teams are interested and they deal will be done
  14. I'd play predominantly youngsters. Yes, momentum is good, but this is exactly the type of game where we lose a key players to injury and really all that matters is 3 points against Milwall. What a start that would be
  15. They could think he's a glory hunter either. We don't know. They definitely thought it againt Bristol city last season to give one example. Johnson said as much in an interview. No benefit if he stays, he has made it clear he wants to leave. Need to sort a deal ASAP.
  16. Anyone else getting injured isn't going to lead to us missing out on 15 million in the short term. We don't need to replace 30 goals, we need to win more games. Dolans workrate from that role was very impressive yesterday. Looked a far better team. Armstrong took penalties and most of his goals were of the flat track bully variety. On we go
  17. You would, wouldnt you? The illogical thing to do 😆 He could get injured, he probably won't try. Completely upset the camp. The deal needs to happen this window and it will
  18. He can sign pre contracts with clubs then
  19. I only remember him getting fouled and think it was him who played the sublime ball to Rothwell, which he should have scored or squared. Thought he did really well. When you have Dolan closing down from the front, it brings a different energy. A few have mentioned here we look a better unit and team without Armstrong and I would agree. Hopefully that deal gets wrapped up ASAP.
  20. If he's fit, Ayala is surely the best centre half we have had since been relegated? What ye reckon?
  21. One of the defenders should have stopped that shot for their goal. It was poor defending
  22. Worked all the same, but I take your points. We take the win and on we go!
  23. Butterworth could play the CF role fairly well. He's quick, but looks fairly strong for his size
  24. If he's taking penalties 1000/1 is very high. He will get double figures
