My impression is that we have an agreed budget (whatever Waggot presented to the owners) which will keep the club within the FFP regulations.

Waggott and Mowbray are trying to spread that budget across 5 or 6 players which means our top tier targets are likely not to be feasible signings as there will be interest from other clubs who can pay a bit more.  Now rather than adjust the policy and spend the budget on signing 2 quality players we will end up 5 or 6 players that help boost the squad numbers but no necessarily of top quality.

This is just my hypothesis on what is happening and I could be totally wrong.

Mowbray said the opposite. He said he had got the numbers in last summer (filled the squad) and that this summer it was about targeting 3 or 4 experienced players to go straight in the 1st team.

If I was a player, I would be looking at the last 5 seasons, not the last 30. Unfortunately for us, Preston are a more attractive option at the moment. I think we are catching them and will pass them soon, but ya a sign of how far we fell under our great leaders in Pune

    Someone's telling porkies, 'bud'.

It is what it is, he drew more attention on himself after scoring the goal in the play off final, so had more options. He chose Preston. Very possibly the incorrect choice.

Yeah, until Alex Neill saw him scoring a goal on the telly he'd never heard of him

And yesterday you were saying PNE were a more attractive option so in your mind it must surely be the correct decision.

Not even Houdini could get out of the knots you've tied yourself up in, and not because he's dead.

As Sharpe said, looks like Preston guaranteed him a starting place and Rovers  couldn’t give him that, let’s hope we have someone else lined up who’s better.

They are getting their excuses in early. Most of moggas signings have started their career at Rovers on the bench, even the expensive ones. He's either lied to them all or they were happy to fight for their place, like most footballers.

That's Mowbray's 2nd knock back of the summer and we're not even in July. This is turning into a repeat of last summer when he ended up panic buying because he couldn't secure his 1st choice targets.

Mowbray obviously can't sell the club as an attractive place to come and play.

Beaten to the punch by PNE. FFS!

We could easily have just moved onto other players.

Secretly I’m glad - I’ve watched him a few times trying to look positively for reasons why we’ve been so keen, and I was reaching tbh.

Bookmark this - he’ll go on to be immense and in the team of the season and the message board goes full reactor 4.

I think PNE's manager has a fairly decent success rate when it comes to transfers, on a smaller budget than Mowbray.

That's been common knowledge for a few months ....

I here Hanley is returning to Rovers , don't get much info now but see what happens ..

No really, there was talk he was staying after Charlton got promoted. He's only just officially announced he's leaving.

That's the one! Top man, cheers. My niece has been battering my head asking what it was ever since she went to her 1st Rovers match earlier this season. She hasn't been back since mind ? but at least we have a 'banger' (horrendous phrase) to listen to instead.
