  1. It does look like a coconut shy. They really should take Jack down, he does not need to be alongside that shower.
  2. Not picking on you specifically, just I guess I feel there's endless stick on here (including from me) about Brereton and Gallagher but not much praise about Armstrong, Lenihan, Travis etc whose had a phenomenal seasons. We've got four players now who are really top class in this division - Lenihan, Travis, Dack, Armstrong. If we can get a good keeper and hold onto them thats a really excellent back bone to the team. Most promising squad we've had since Cairney left imo.
  3. I think we're pretty down on our own players to be honest. Armstrong has been absolutely phenomenal in 2020, Travis and Lenihan are as good as anyone in their positions in the league. Downing, Evans, Tosin, Nyambe, Holtby all look the part for a top six side. Fair enough Brereton and Gallagher have been very poor, but largely the team's done well this season.
  4. Warren ready used to annoy me but I've warmed to him over time. Hes a Crawley Town fan I think but move north to take Rovers social media lead role and has the passion of the newly converted.
  5. Depends really. Things look okay at the moment, but it's possible the infection rate will increase at some point over late summer/autumn, and if/when it does crowds at the football will be one of the first casualties.
  6. Phenomenal result. Mad formation, but Tony totally vindicated. Really enjoyed watching it, looking forward to the next 8 games.
  7. Once it gets going ifollow is really good. I like the commentators and the pictures is pretty decent. But the challenge is always getting it to work.
  8. I agree. In isolation its a good repurposing of him. But it's remarkable that we have 6 of 10 outfield players not in their usual position.
  9. Decent half the goal conceded aside. The formation is absolutely barmy. Two strikers playing wide, a midfielder playing striker, a winger in central midfield, wingers playing both full backs. Mentle. Looked okay so far though.
  10. I think Bells been decent in the last few games. Much rather have him than Williams.
  11. I think the current England team has a chance to become as good to be honest. In Sancho, Sterling and Kane we've got 3 world class players, and the general techical standard of the squad is very high. Defence and keeper a bit dodgy though.
  12. Have to say Holtby has looked like a good footballer but not particularly effective so far. But to be honest that is a significant improvement over attacking players who look neither good nor effective (Gallagher, Brereton, Samuel). At least with him you have a bit of hope.
  13. With the season about to restart does anyone know what the squad fitness status is like? Keen to know if Dack and Holtby will be available? Also news about the frequency of fixtures.
  14. I think Bell improved a lot through the season. I wouldn't say our worst performer at all. With it looking like the season will restart dies anyone know the injury status? Getting Dack and Holtby back will be a big boost.
  15. Yeah, but I thought Gallagher didn't really need pace, in the same way Sheringham or Cantona didn't. Not saying he was as good as them, just that his game was more about finding space and picking passes and making late runs. It's s bit of an overused phrase but just seemed to me he didn't really want it that much. Dunn gets a lot of stick but he really worked hard to make it at Rovers. I dont think Gallaher did really unfortunately. He must have done something right though - according to wiki "Gallagher was voted Preston North Ends player of the decade 2010–2019 by fans in January 2020.[35]"
  16. Rochina's had a bit of a resurgence and playing well for Levante in La Liga. Player I always think could have been really good is Paul Gallagher. Such a smart footballer, had real quality. But seemed to not really make the most of it. In terms of wasted talent biggest I've seen at Rovers is probably Junior Hoilett. Unplayable on his day but totally sabotaged himself.
  17. Lenihan and Travis could both play at a higher level I think. Not as stand outs, but solid lower mid table players. Both are excellent at their core roles and have a little more to offer as well. Actually think both of them have a brighter future than Dack as they have all the physical attributes whereas Dack looks like he will be a little short of what is required in the Prem.
  18. We're going to need so many players in June. As it stands today we need a gk, centreback, winger and striker. Then we need to replace Walton, Tosin, Cunningham returning on loan. And then on top Graham and Benno are now definitely too old. So thats nine players. A really good window would be signing four or five decent players so I think we are going to be really struggling. Also need to hold onto Dack, Travis and Lenihan all of whom I am sure will get significant interest. Even Nyambe maybe.
  19. Agree with this with two minor quibbles 1) I don't think realistically Dunn and Tugay could play together in the middle. They were exact contempories at Rovers and virtually never did as there's not a tackle between them. So I would argue you would have to pick an enforcer alongside Tugay - probably I would go for Savage. 2) Hard to drop Nelsen who was absolutely superb. But then both Samba and Hendry were great. It's interesting that most people pick more players from the 2000s rather than the 90s. But I agree that the Hughes team was largely better than the Dalgliesh team, Shearer apart who was absolutely phenomenal.
  20. My gut instinct is they will play through the summer as the financial consequences of not doing so are so dire. Euros will be move to 2021 to accommodate. The fly in the ointment as someone else said - if this does turn into a three month epidemic there isn't really enough time to play straight through the summer.
  21. Rothwell's a funny one. Has a lot of good attributes. Pace, good technique, can pass the ball pretty well, direct, good dribbler. But for some reason it doesn't really come together. It's a decision making thing I think, which seems like it should be possible to coach. He needs to focus on picking when to run with and when to pass the ball. I do think the lack of balance in the squad doesn't help him. We have so many players trying to play narrow and no real width, so everyone's getting in each others way. And that's with 2 narrow players out long term (Dack and Holtby - !!)
  22. Mulgrew was a total and utter liability so I can see why he was moved on and frozen out. I think Mowbray's trying to force him to make a move to save on the contract. But equally Mowbray offered him the contract. So the in the situation all roads lead back to the manager making an error.
