  1. I really really really hope that is the last we see of Gallagher out wide. Options going forward with Gallagher 1) Up front in 4231 2) Up front in 442 3) On the bench Who could play on the wing instead : Downing, Armstrong, Rothwell, Holtby, Chapman, Bennett. Out of those only really Downing and Armstrong inspire much confidence, but all are a much better fit than Gallagher.
  2. Have to say in my opinion in terms of actual blood and thunder defending Lenihan is streets ahead of him. Makes some mistakes, but you would back him time after time in challenges in the air and on the deck. Best all round CB we've had since Hanley left. Tosin offers huge technical quality, and decent defending, although a tendency to sloppiness. As a pairing they could be really good and learn off one another. Be very pleased if Tosin signing is true. Only slight concern is he has seemed a bit disengaged recently and the sloppiness seems to be a growing issue which needs stopping.
  3. What's most interesting about that if true is another manager rates him. Why I have no Idea.
  4. Come on chadster - he's only been good in about 20% of his games, spent loads of time injured, and when he's out we barely miss him. Not a bad player but not a particularly good one either.
  5. But then Preston put him under zero pressure today. But I agree striker is far more important.
  6. Most sides only really have a decent first team in the Championship with a couple of flexible subs. Very few have good deep squads. So we are not alone there.
  7. I think we've got a decent team that could make playoffs with a few additions and a good manager. Certainly in terms of quality I've seen a lot worse since we went down from prem. Armstrong, Dack, Travis, Johnson, Lenihan, Nyambe, Holtby all look good enough for playoffs imo. Just lacking at GK, full back and up front.
  8. Another game we would have won with better strikers...
  9. Basically when you look at the team it's pretty decent in every position except that right side and striker.
  10. We're all over the show now. We're playing like we're away against a Prem team.
  11. I think we're playing all right - first half anyway - and pretty well drilled. Just the wrong players in some positions.
  12. We can't bring anyone on due to two injuries already. So just put Gallagher up front for god's sake. Just go 442? Gally and Armstrong up front? Holtby right.
  13. He would need to sign one or two strikers who actually score goals.
  14. Yup doing square root of FA. It's a total and utter joke. Needs a change.
  15. Interesting point - Bennett when he came on did not take the armband. Stayed with Lenihan. That's a pretty big change.
  16. I really really really don't know why Mowbray doesn't swap Gally and Armstrong. Edit - and now Nyambes off for Bennett. Argh!
  17. Last game where Preston went direct we got totally mullered. Different back line today though so hopefully can handle it.
  18. Like most of our games we look the better side across the team. Nyambe, Lenihan, Armstrong have all been very good. Only real issue is Gallagher on the right being so utterly pointless. Graham on for Gally, bring him central, play Holtby or Armstrong right.
  19. He's pretty good on the wing for me. Regularly creates and scores. Can virtually always beat his man. Much rather have him there than Gallagher.
  20. Have to agree. I see the idea with Gallagher on the wing. Have a guaranteed out ball, push the other side back line deep, someone who comes in central for crosses from the left and scores at the back post. But we've done it for six months and it absolutelu, resolutely hasn't worked. Why do we persist?
  21. That is very David Brent! Basic premise is okay of what he is saying. Would have no issue with any manager saying it. It's more that he says stuff like this then we don't actually sign "players with character". I mean out of everyone weve brought in who actually looks like a leader? Only Johnson and Smallwood I think?
  22. I have to say signing a winger when we've got a number of players who have performed not brilliant, but okay, in that role while neglecting GK, Full Back and Striker would be mental. But unfortunately not very surprising with our management team. We've been creating plenty of chances. We just can't finish them and concede for fun.
  23. Had a think about this one... We've got 20 games to go. We probably need to score an average of 2 goals per game to be in with a fighting chance as our defence is so shite. So 40 goals. Looking at things very generously - I reckon we will get about 7 more from Armstrong. Maybe 5 from various defenders chipping in. Maybe 9 from various midfielders. That gets us to 21. Graham I think maybe 5 more. Gallagher maybe 3. A big zero from Brereton. Gets us to 29. We're around 11 goals short. Looking around the squad there just isn't the capability there to make it up. We have to sign someone who can bring those goals. If we can't Gallagher, or someone totally left field like Holtby, is going to need to turn into a goal machine.
