Yeah. Morton and Travis both had shockers. Couldnt find good forward passes and lost the ball cheaply time after time. Really disappointing as Trav has been so good recently. Almost verged on the amateurish. Wharton literally didnt put a foot wrong in his 20 mins. Id be really surprised if he does not start on Monday. Seems nailed on to me. Part of me wonders if Garrett could come in and give Travis a rest too. But that's probably unlikely.

Interesting interview. Im a bit surprised that neither the interviewers or JDT mentioned that the game before and after the substitutes was completely different. Jon said "we created as many chances as Norwich". But what he didnt say is 80% of those chances were between the 75th and 95th minute.

Yeah, if we'd won yesterday I would be more worried about Monday, but since we lost I actually feel like our chances in Huddersfield have increased. Bizarre but that's the way we have been this season. -

I thought Carter was pretty good, not sure why hes getting criticised? Team for me Pears Brittain. Carter. Hyam. Pickering Travis. A Wharton JRC. Szmodics. Dolan. BBD With Thomas out playing JRC at RW seems a better shout than Hedges or Dolan there. Gallagher and Morton also have to be dropped -
Very frustrating performance. Norwich didnt really do anything tactically different, nor did they actually play that well, in fact they were very average. But they won very very easily won. That Sorba and Wharton needed to come on was obvious from around the 30th minute. Why we waited till the 75th I really really dont understand. We were instantly better....

Overall JDT has been incredibly fair with giving players chances - from Travis to JRC to Carter to Szmodics to Dack to Pears etc etc - everyones got a fair crack, and when youre in you get a few games to show whether you can hold onto your place. I sincerely doubt hes picking on Adam Wharton.
-
I reckon Wharton deserves a crack, but I think it's a bit of a stretch to be certain that he would be better than Morton. I would be surprised if he was consistently a significant step up. Morton, Buckley, Wharton all seem very similar to me. Great on a good day, poor on a bad day, never too sure which you are going to get.

Yeah I wouldnt think it would really suit JRC to play a central role in a two, he is good roaming around and finding space, if he was at central midfield partnership I think the need to always be available centrally and play on the half turn wouldn't really be his bag. Would suit right side of a midfield three more but then we would still have to find someone for the left of the three. If we are dropping Morton the obvious shout is to bring Wharton or Garrett in, not move JRC. Like for like replacement. Id give Wharton a shot, drop Morton, but persist with Gallagher up top as we have little other choice.

Out of the options we have I would still start Gallagher btw, as I can't see anyone else being better. We can play Dack up top but then we lose our press which is absolutely critical, play Dolan and he is not a box player, play Brereton Diaz and he wants to be outside coming in on his right foot. I suppose maybe it will be worth starting Dolan wide left and BBD up front to give it a go. But I bet my bottom dollar BBD will spend most of his time in the left channel making triangles with Dolan and Pickering rather than in the box. At least Gallagher has improved on that front recently, and spends more of his time in the 18 yards than on the right wing. Our lack of striker options are a joke. A decent centre forward and we would have playoffs in the bag.

Gallagher is okay if you are playing deep and you want someone to pick up the ball and run with it and press the opposition back line. He is absolutely hopeless though if the opposition sits back and space is a premium (like Brum on Saturday). I don't think JDT really rates him either reading between the lines, but literally we have no one else at the moment. However there is a plus is that Norwich won't want to sit deep so I can see Gallagher having a better game as it will suit him more.

I like Szmodics also, he gets in the right places normally (not such a good game today though). But like Dack he is not a centre forward, and can't expect to be the focal point. Really if we stuck a championship forward at the top of the team we would get promoted automatically or run it very close. In the summer finding two top strikers is the absolute critical priority, I think JDT knows it. Think I trust him and Broughton to find them too, -

Yeah, I think we played okay generally apart from some lapses in concentration at the back. What is the main issue is the lack of a quality centre forward. We could control the ball but just very little to play it up to. Really looking forward to having a proper goal scorer up front, whenever that may be. -

Yeah weve had the better of the midfield play but given away a lot of decent opportunities to Brum. There is something about JDT, so many opportunities we give away would have been buried in previous regimes but we seem to get away with them with Tommason. Every good manager is a lucky manager. -
Ah that makes sense! Also could be waiting to see if a prem team comes in over the summer if we don't go up. Seems a bit risky though as I am sure the Villarreal management wont be too pleased and they could withdraw the offer.

Yeah this is all getting a bit weird. I suspect theres an angle to it we dont have visibility of.

Why, we did really well over the period BBD was out? -

Yeah Dolan is far away at his best on the left. Play him there and rest BBD and we haven't lost that much imo. -
I'm hoping we will se a Travis like recovery of form at some point between now and the end of the season. We know he's a very good player,

Yes, we have a really good all round, young squad and manager with cover in nearly all positions, and continued development and improvement to come. If you put a top striker up front and maybe a bit more experience in midfield then we would be right up for automatic promotion. We've got a team and squad to be positive about. -
Priorities for the summer

Garrett signing is good. Great in the tackle, and not got a bad left foot, but also games seem to pass him by a bit. With our absolutely insane schedule in April coming up I dare say both he and Adam Wharton will get a lot of game time. -
I think the point in RU is intent has nothing to do with it now. If you meet the criteria you get sent off. Its up to the tackler to make sure he does not meet any criteria no matter how unintentional. If the criteria is too harsh then the criteria need changing. They've taken red cards out of the referees hands with the protocol to try and make it predictable and drive down head injuries.

Id loved to have made it but thought we played really well and weve got a massive fight for playoffs on our hands. If wed played poorly and been thrashed Id have been gutted, but to play like that, come out feeling weve acquitted ourselves really well, going into the last 9 games it feels like plenty more to play for.
