  1. Thanks Paul, I appreciate your opinion, even if I'm more confused having read what you think. I think Brereton could figure as one of the forwards in a 442 formation but never in a month of Sundays as a 10 in the Dack role. To be honest, I'll take some convincing he's a professional footballer, never mind what position he could fill. As you say, differing opinions is what makes life interesting and the world go round. COYB!
  2. So you agree with most of us then that we do not have one proper tool in the box that can excel in the 'wide forward' role? As for Brereton as a natural successor to Dack in the 10 role..... I'd love to know what Gallagher and Brereton were bought for, was it as central goalscoring strikers or what?
  3. At the end of the day, if there was sufficient belief amongst our fan base that Rovers were really going for it and had done in the past two home games but were really unfortunate to only draw both, there would be no need for offers and there would be 15k plus on and rising towards the end of the season, dependant on how the games panned out. There isn't that belief imo and therein lies the problem.
  4. I totally disagree with your opening comment. Teams doing well with that formation generally utilise attack minded midfielders or wingers and invert them to play as wide forwards, on the opposite side to their strongest foot. Name me a successful team that utilises 6 feet odd central strikers in either 'wide forward' role? I agree with your principal of the method of play btw, as in your penultimate sentence but fail to understand the logic with the players we expect to excel there.
  5. Yeh I know but being the final 4 home games of the season, I thought an offer of the price being deducted from a season ticket next season would be doubly beneficial. You could even offer something similar based on any purchases in the last 4 games. I worry that season ticket sales will tank this close season, considering we're 3 points off a play off spot, the actual attendances in the last few home games have been dire. I suspect sub 8,000 in the past couple.
  6. Looking further into that comment from Mowbray suggests that there's no motivation to go for a play off place this season, even though we're only 3 points adrift of the top 6. He's just confirmed what we all think. There should be 2 plans for signing players in the close season in our position; one if we were to go up and one if we didn't. If our ambition is to go up, which it bloody well should be, it just confirms Mowbray is not the man. We'd much more ambition in the eighties when we couldn't pay the milk man.
  7. I think it was a good offer from Rovers to be fair. Now the most attractive fixture has been moved and the likelihood that the game versus WBA will do likewise, perhaps Rovers could further endorse the offer: How about anyone taking up the 4 game offer would see the price of those 4 games deducted from a full price season ticket purchased for next season?
  8. You need to have the desire to get there: Rovers consistently don't do that, particularly when opportunities arise to make up ground. Sparks Rover may have hit the nail on the head with his 'turkeys don't vote for Christmas' scenario. Me may only be 3 points adrift but I'll be gobsmacked if we occupy any of the playoff positions between now and the end of the season, never mind in May.
  9. Rothwell's not looking as if he's up to much. We're crying out for a flair player but he just flatters to deceive I feel.
  10. They're running back down Livesey Branch Road now to get back in!
  11. So we now have 4 central strikers on the field. Lump it long Rovers!!
  12. You can only assume that's 4-3-3? We'll get over run in midfield, I fear for us today. Hopefully not, COYB!!
