Really not sure about this American lad, £2.3m for 15 goals in 37 MLS appearances doesn't bode well.  We don't need potentially another donkey upfront (hope I have to eat my words)

Thats a better strike rate than Messi in the MLS to be fair. Would rather decide with the eye not stats

  2. Pleased for Wharton. He is a level above where we are currently and honestly the lad has been no trouble at all here, even going as far as dodging questions on his future here as to keep the focus on the here and now. Not many have left here in recent memory that I genuinely think can go on and have a successful move away from Ewood, with Palace I think he has all the requirements to make it a huge success and be moving on again in 2 or 3 years for the Champions League teams.

It's not 5 months he has given it here. He was starting pretty regularly until October. In December it sounds like he had kicked up enough stink about wanting out that he wasn't playing primarily for that reason (whether that be as punishment for being disruptive, or to keep him fresh and uninjured for his Ipswich move). So he's given it 2 months (3 if I'm wrong about why he wasn't playing in December).

But he asked for a transfer in the summer as he wants to play in a specific role, so im taking 5 months from that point.

The LT article said he reluctantly agreed, which suggests he was forced out rather than being his choice, ie a budget saving. Unless he fears he won’t get the desired game time at Ipswich either.

Could be that has has been pushed towards accepting the deal from higher up, but the only direct quote we have from anyone is that JDT has said he asked to leave twice so that will hold more weight for me than what the press "understands" but are unwilling to state where the claims come from.

Not at this moment in time, no.

But there is a bigger picture. I can't see Wharton and Tronstad playing 90 minutes for the rest of the season. So someone else will need to come in. That's the reason Ipswich have signed him. Proven depth. What do we have in reserve?

Travis is likely to be a sub at Ipswich, at least to start with. I assume he is content to do that and try to work his way in.

Agree with first point, but we have to wait and see what happens over next 3 weeks.

As for Trav being Content to work his way in at Ipswich but not here you are missing potential context. Maybe he gave it 5 months here and still wasn't getting what he wanted so no point giving it 5 months more in his mind. At Ipswich he might be in the same position, but if he does break in there he might be able to secure a Premier League move to Ipswich in the Summer if it works out and they go up. Remember it's a Loan not a permanent move.

My point was Travis was given to him and he didn’t use him this season. I never mentioned anyone else other than Kaminski which is the same point.

He can’t moan about experience when he overlooks it or moves it on. He should just say I don’t rate them and want somebody else instead.

    its PR bullshit

He has played 20 times in the Championship this season... how is that not using him?

  7. 31 minutes ago, roverblue said:

He moans after every game that we don’t have ‘experience’ or about the average age of our team do you not listen to his interviews? Travis has 200 rovers appearances so yes I would class him as our most experienced player.

Kaminski was clearly dropped for Pears which you have stated in the same sentence. He got back fit and couldn't get back in? Same thing surely.  “100% the right thing to do” you seriously believe that?

Yes JDT is calling for more experience and as I pointed out he uses that experience when given to him, you claimed he doesn't use it which as I pointed out is not true. Travis can have 200 apps for us but fact is his is less experienced that Tronstad at the game of Football (the player he wants to replace)

I never said Kaminski was dropped at all! I said he got injured and had to be replaced, his replacement was on form and you don't drop a player in form unless he gets injured. Again 100% I agree with player in form should never be dropped, form dips then you have a call to make

He wants experience but won’t play and then sells our captain and most experienced player. Same with Kaminski last season who he dropped for Pears.

Utter guff, he has played Tronstad, Szmodics, Hyam all older experienced heads so that's just a plain wrong statement. Our most experienced player is Tronstad and you think JDT has the power to be able to sell players... Kaminski never got dropped he got injured and Pears was playing well so never got dropped, 100% the right thing to do. Only true statement in all that you have spouted is that Travis was our captain!

Think I have seen enough of this now, before people start leaping to the managers defence, yes we know he hasn't had great backing from the club but to persist with these tactics no matter the situation or opposition is bad management. End of story. A good manager would make us compact, hard to beat and not having us playing tippy tappy football in out own box with lads who cannot do it and a keeper who is is beyond shaky behind them. Unbelievable.

That's his remit, he was employed to play football in the identity the DoF wants us to play. The fact we don't have the backing from the shysters in India to be able to do it is not the DoF or Managers fault.

It's a big Substantial legitimate thing to scrutinise though isn't it!!!!  (and what does decrying even mean)

every single football fan on the planet scrutinises the match squad before kick off

No, most logical fans discuss the merits of one player over another, the formation ect. However here we have a all be it minority (although very vocal) that love to go way over the top without adding anything to a discussion. Guess I will just use the ignore feature...

It’s a forum revolving on opinions. Otherwise just shut the thread completely.

Some people think the line up is odd. Some don’t.  But if you don’t say what we think when it’s announced what’s the point of this board?

Im all for discussion, however posts like "Is JDT trying to get Sacked" is not a post looking to add to a discussion. Discuss the line up and ask questions about it. Decrying without context is not a post loooking to join a discussion, it's pointless hyperbole

Nope (I'm also in US). I'm giving up actively following Rovers. I can't reliably watch the games which isn't great when newly converted friends come over to watch them. Now put Premier league games on, which costs less per month than watching Rovers.

Tried to buy some shirts but that also doesn't work... amateurs. Easier and cheaper for neutrals to follow other teams.

Of all the things that can turn a person against actively following Rovers these have to be the most rediculous excuses I could ever possibly hear 🙄 I have seen some guff posted on here over the years but my god this is lowest of the low 😆

I'm not bothered about the past record. signing either one of those would improve our strikers options and wouldn't cost too much in terms of transfer fee for Nisbet or wages for both.

Signing Chris Brown would improve our current Striker option, it doesn't mean we should be doing it though. We need a proper striker that is on paper guaranteed 20 Championship goals a season or its as we were in mid table.
