The great thing about kids playing well is they dont know they're not supposed to be playing well.  The youth in the side is the most promising aspect of the squad.

Yes and that's why you try to help them by trying to play to their strengths and play others around them that can cover for areas of weakness. Playing Travis alongside Wharton or Buckley isn't/hasn't helped either of them and will continue to hamper any progress they could make. Do you think Carter & S.Wharton CB partnership is good enough to start as first choice CB's next season? I don't! For the same reason why any combination of Travis, Buckley, A.Wharton is not acceptable to start in the engine room of midfield regularly next season

Kaminski in goal, Batty at left-back, midfield 3 chosen from Wharton, Garrett, Buckley, JRC. Then splash out on a goal-scorer or two.

We can't go into next season with them options in the middle and be succesful. Wharton is a stand out who's potential is sky-high but to partner him with any of those is going to hurt him. He needs an experienced head who will do the dirty work and protect his weaknesses. The only one that could maybe do some of that but without the experience part would be JRC, but even then I would want the experience alongside Wharton to really let him shine.

Let's see who comes down - e.g. I could see Everton and Leicester going into absolute freefall.

Watford are a basket case club.

We need 3 new attacking players at a minimum, all of whom can score goals.

Everton I agree with it's clear as day boardroom and ownership is an issue there. It will be Leeds, Forest & Southampton for me that drop though and they are all well enough run to get themselves back in top 6 mix.

Watford may be a basket case club but are we any different? the big difference is they have more money to splash and are an astute manager appointment who gets results early on away from being good to go.

We have little to no experience in the squad, no leaders & no goals. We need so much more than just 3 attacking players that score goals, which in itself is a huge ask without multi-millions to throw at it.

Feeling a bit of pride after that.  Excellent way to end the season but really should have been in the bag weeks ago. Poor run since the World Cup, but can’t help be feel undone in part to bad luck. Can easily point to 3 or 4 matches where a point has been stolen from us. We return nearly the entire squad who played meaningful minutes. Need at least 4 in. 2 center forwards, a left winger and a left back. If GN can get the necessary paperwork over the line in the summer we should be top 6 next year.

Really? With the 3 coming down from the Prem and the 2 (Watford & Norwich) from this season that underperformed that are still here is 5 that should be gunning for the top 6 straight away, then we have the 3 that will miss out this time in the play-offs. You think we are 4 signings away from making the Play-offs when we are losing 2 almost ever presents from the team this season? minimum 6 needed and one of them needs to be a top, repeat *TOP* striker. Our transfer record tells me not a chance and another season of mid-table mediocrity is beckoning in what will be a much tougher division next season.

Brereton-Diaz is as soft as they come - he's hidden out wide for 6 months running down his contract. What makes you think he's going to be up for a battle at #9 against two big CBs?

Nothing but I would rather Hedges be through the middle and Diaz off for Dolan. Having one player in thier best position beats Brereton & Dolan being out of position again. Personally would go with Leonard through the middle but nah not JDT.

he gets his head down and turns backwards with the football then obviously gets dispossesed, the best place for him is the wing,at least his pace will cause some problems there

Oh I agree wing is his best position. Thing is upfront he aint given no support from wide so he either turns to try and buy time for some support and gets dispossesed or he runs into a blind alley and gets dispossesed either way he gets pelters from some on here without looking at the circumstances he is being asked to play in

have you seen dolan trying to play centre forward,he gets the ball and turns backwards😉

Not always a bad thing if your wide forwards are Diaz & Hedges who are never offering him an option as they are stuck on the halfway line, so he turns back looking for the always willing Szmodics

Every year we get the excuse : 'how can we compete with teams receiving parachute payments ?'

When Venky's took over we were in the Premier League and Luton were in the Conference! Proof that a well run club can compete.

It's some 'journey' they are taking us on.

We haven't been a well run club since Venkys rocked up so that why we cant compete.

The summer window was one of slight change but gave me a little hope as for the time they had it was a decent start to move us forward, however January happened and back to square one. This summer is make or break as far as this current regime for me it has to be not only a good window it has to be 'special'

I've seen calls to get rid of him, I wouldn't do that,he's an important squad member and can do a good job.

    He needs adding to.

Its an expensive squad player to have. He cant be the one to lead our frontline as he is not prolific enough. We cant use him out wide as his final ball and first touch is poor and he doesn't have raw pace to skin his man! Thus he is a bench player who is one of our highest earners. Move him on if we can get something for him, otherwise we a stuck with a player who is not going to lead a side to the play-offs as a minimum

They made a documentary about that class because it was so abnormal - and they still backed it with millions and millions of pounds.

Yes and we have backed ours with millions of pounds for the league we're in. Not many of our academy players have looked out of place for a play-off chasing team Carter, JRC & Wharton have been some of our most consistant players when called upon. The academy players are not the issue its the consistant use of the likes of Diaz (post world cup), Hedges & Gallagher who are nowhere near the required standard and they are £10m+ in fees alone.

Is there any team in this division who have 2 players in the same team with combined fees of over £10m paid while in the Championship without parachute payments and without a sale of any note?

Yes, Scholes was a Manchester United Academy player. He'd have cost an absolute fortune to buy.

Ok so Man Utd dominating the 90's into 2000's with G.Neville, P.Neville, Butt, Scholes, Butt & Beckham with the best will in the world you can't expect a title push with an Academy propping up the First XI like that... Sounds a little stupid no?

We had 8 Academy players in the squad again today - with the best will in the world you can't expect a promotion push with an Academy propping up the First XI like that.

7, and you cant be counting Travis as academy player he is 25 and has well over 200 career appearences! was Scholes an academy player when he was 35 playing for Man Utd? So really 6 total, not terrible considering one was also a Keeper who was only in due to circumstances and is usually 3rd choice.

Even the TV folk are deceived with a few braids and stepovers......one of the least effective players in the squad....

And you would like him to do what while being played as a false 9 against 3 central defenders while Diaz is standing around on the left halfway line picking his arse and Hedges nowhere to be seen? play him on the left in place of Diaz and he is more than capable

    Thanks for your input

Excuse me if I disregard  someone who thinks Dolan is the “most exciting player in the club” and anyone who says otherwise “doesn’t have a pulse”

I can tell you for certain that Dolan out on the left for a little as he was there this evening was the only one along with Sczmodics  from outside the back 5 that I would not even think about dropping against Millwall. Diaz, Hedges, Travis & Wharton nowhere near what was required today.

I've not turned the telly off thinking wow, that Luton lot are a good team. I'm not saying we played them off the park, but I don't think anybody watching that game could really say Luton impressed them.

That's the thing, 1st half they were poor and 2nd half they were average but the fact they were comfortable throughout and still should have been out of sight is a damning indictment of the way we setup for thae whole game.

Has just lost his drive. Could still turn into a decent signing on a free for someone. But the other thing is he's a confidence player, and he may have lost a lot of that again after being wank for us for a while now. Offering nothing at the moment, should be dropped to the bench.

Doesn't deserve the bench spot honestly
