  1. The vast majority of us. You see, we have a work ethic over here, and a sense of right and wrong. It's what sets us apart from you lot.
  2. No he isn't. The Pott Shrigley XI were struggling with our demon strike bowler, wispering Bob, who just couldn't find his rhythm. We did not, I repeat, did NOT contact Dennis Lillee to remedy the issue. We found that a combination of threats and beer were far more effective.
  3. I'm going on Sunday, so I hope we haven't skittled the OAC's out by then. I'd like to see us lift the ashes and then put them back in the case in the MCC, where of course they belong, and indeed, never leave. Key toss to win.
  4. Why do the Kangaroo molesters get to have two songs at the rugby? Your national anthem, advance Australia fair, seems OK, if a little ironic given your win at all costs mentality, but then you also get to drone through waltzing matilda. I propose that when Gods own team play the chain rattlers next, we play God Save the Queen, and then we also play "I fought the law", by the clash.
  5. We were going to build Jerusalem here, but Colin and his lot objected to the demolition of tree, so it was built in Israel instead. I do love waltzing matilda as an anthem. It somehow sums up Australia.
  6. If you speak to any board director at Rovers or at any club outside the big 4, they will agree with every word that Alan wrote. Clubs are aware that they are pricing fans out of the market, that there are far too many games on the TV and that the salaries players are commanding are absolutely outrageous. The problem is that they can do nothing about it. You have to match the salaries, or else you don't get the players. So you pay the money and buy the players you need. You can't afford to get relegated because you lose the sky money which pays the players. Sky only pay you the money if you appear on sky and so if you want to keep the sky money, you have to appear to sky. That drives down attendences because there is too much football on sky. It also drives ticket prices up beacuse they need to generate more money to pay the players wages, because the sky money doesn't cover everything. Attendences drop further due to price increases, so you become even more dependent on sky money. It is a vicious circle and nobody can break out of it. As long as there are side like the Scum, Chelski and Arsenal that have more money than the rest, there is nothing you can do to break the cycle. Relegation means you go bust, so you just hang on in there and perpetuate the problem. If anyone knows how to break it, then please feel free to write to Robert Coar, because I'm sure he would like to know.
  7. You do appear to have taken it to another level though don't you? It's not fair, those nasty Englishmen have a substitute fielder on and he is actually good at fielding. We would never do a thing like that. Unless we were at home. With a wealth of talent to choose from. Or one of our batsmen has a bad back. Ponting sounds pathetic, as does McGrath. It is quite sad really as I had a lot of respect for Glen McGrath before this tour, now he just sounds like a whinging moaning rock-breaker trying desperately to explain away the fact that his side are getting beaten by a very good English team that has already beaten all comers and is now going to add the world champions to its list of vanquished foes. It wouldn't actuallly kill them to admit that we are better than they are. Your rugby players managed it, although obviously your prime minister was less than impressed with the fact. Still, with your breeding, what can we expect?
  8. Biggest game of the season? Dream on sunshine. Bolton away isn't anybody's biggest game of the season. Except maybe Bury. We are not your local rivals, you don't really mean anything to us. You don't really mean anything to anyone, and that is why you try to create rivalries whenever you get chance. We'll beat them 2-0. With 10 men.
  9. Name a single reputable university that does HND's. It's typical of the short sighted, narrow minded approach to society that was demonstated by Wez et al on saturday. Nobody really belives they are at fault. It's always somebody elses fault. There is always somebody waiting to tell you that what you did was right and well done to you. A two bob poly is a two bob poly. A half baked course is a half baked course. No amount of re-branding will make the University of central Lancashire a real University. It is Harris college and always will be. Trouble finds trouble. If you were stone island, Burberry or whatever else it is that these half-wits wear, then you are wearing the uniform of a thug/drunk/hooligan/chav and you must expect to be treated as one. You can argue that it is wrong, but that is the reality of the situation. Consider yourself baited, you prole!
  10. Actually, I can afford to spend £17k a year on golf. Not that Wentworth actually costs £17k a year. I spend more than that on petrol. You may earn £5.75 an hour, but please don't assume that the rest of us are that unfortunate.
  11. I'm actually a member at Wentworth, and at the RAC, but that really is besides the point. How's the cancer research coming on?
  12. So if I understand you properly Wez, you are 16, you work 9 hours a day, you follow the Rovers both home and away and you have a golf handicap of 4. Presumably therefore you are able to survive on exactly 2 hours of sleep a week. I could almost believe it, but Burberry don't make golf bags, so I knew it was a lie. I assume that by the time you turn 17 you will have won the British Grand Prix, graduated from Oxford and also cured cancer?
  13. The large elongated key at the bottom of the keyboard is called a space bar. If you press it occasionally, it may make your missives more legible. Of course, it may not. So now you are 16 and getting drunk at football matches? Your mother must be very proud. At least you are not a Chav though.
  14. This is quite the most enjoyable thread I have read in weeks. I echo Jim's sentiments entirely, and indeed those of Rev. Anthropologically it is fascinating. Whilst I also wear Aquascutum, (A rain coat and a three piece, rather than a cap) I can add my four penneth and say that it is definately part of the Chav culture. I was planning on standing for election on a "Kill the Chav's" platform. Immediate culling of anyone wearing a burberry cap, tucking their trousers into their socks (What is that all about?) or having a large exhaust on their car. Unless, of course, it is a large car. I have experienced people "having a bit of banter" at football games, and for the most part they know where the line is. I'm bound to say that recently though that line has become a mot more blurred, much like the vision of your average grubby oik. I wonder if the great unwashed know that Aquascutum was the brand worn by the great glorious St Margaret? That's right you Chav scum, you are dressing in the same brand as Lady Thatcher. I for one appreciate the irony. Although irony is only taught at proper universities, and on the third year of what we call a "degree" course, so you probably won't get it. Long may this thread continue! Edit to add - £5.75 a decent wage! Oh how I laughed.
  15. Just call me psychic. I think there may well be another. Jones is all over them.
  16. Ex-cons look set for a follow on. Three wickets gone by close, I should imagine.
  17. I sometimes wonder if I watch the same games as some of the rest of you. Tugay and MGP were both excellent last night. Emerton also had a good game, and overall the work rate of the team was first class. Every ball from Spurs was under pressure, and that meant we got a lot of possession back, and cheaply. Kuqi lead the line well. Worked incredibly hard and ran his blood to water. That said, he has a touch like a fish and all the finesses of Ashley Ward. With Bellamy or Dickov playing last night, we may well have nicked a goal. There was some great passing, particularly down the right. Tugay, Emerton and Neill have really started to develop an understanding and their link up play is excellent. Largely untroubled at the back. Nelson and Todd look a good pairing, but Nelson had a complete nightmare in posession. He looked nervous, tetchy and thoroughly uncomposed. He was great putting challenges in and winning the ball in the air, but on the ground, his passing and clearing was appalling. Reid gave Todd three good kicks before they started rubbing their heads together. No clear head butt by Todd, but massive drama from Reid. Todd was substituted due to an injury that he opicked up whilst Reid was kicking him. No excuse for Lucas. Terrible challenge and cost us any chance of winning the game. It looked bad at the time and looks even worse on the replays. Could easily have been straight redded for it. On the whole a good performance, which just further highlighted our lack of quality in front of goal. We need Bellamy or Dickov to be fit because Kuqi isn't going to be the answer.
  18. "Who are you" by the Who should be played when the oppo comes out. As for our heroes, well whatever it is it has to be a timeless tune that won't sound stupid in a few years time. How about a bit of Frank Sinatra? I have been a Rover, I have walked alone, walked a hundred highways, never found a home... Of the contemporary tunes, Clubfoot would get my vote.
  19. Well I'm going to the game and I will be in the company of the Spurs directors as I have a spot of business on with them at the moment. On that basis, we will lose 2-0 and I will not enjoy the game one bit. Without Nelson we look ropey at the back and without Bellamy and Dickov, I have little faith in Kuqi doing anything. For the record, this is the first game ever that I have not predicted a Rovers victory.
  20. We'll stuff them. Easy win for Rovers, who will head the table by 4.50pm. 4-0. Our traditional great start to the season. West Ham wont know what hit them.
  21. I've not seen any of teh pre-season games, but from the reports it seems that Jansen is getting a lot of game time. He's been on the score sheet a time or two, so is he back to his old self? I know he got a knock against Espanyol, but assuming that he has no ill effects, can we expect him to start a few games this year?
  22. What ever happened to David Dunn? Has he ever actually played for Birminum or is he just adding to Super Atko's pie industry profits?
  23. Cole under Hughes (a fellow ex-scummer who he has nothing but respect for) will be a different beast to Cole under Souness, who was a surly sweaty tosser. I would be glad to see Cole back.
  24. I used to do some acquisitions work for the electronics industry. Sony Vaio and Dell Lattitude CPxi's are teh way forward. Dell get grief by eggheads, but they are built to last, are incredibly robust and are usually the lightest and smallest around. I have a Dell and Toshiba, and the Dell knoock teh spots off the Toshiba in every way. The Dell Warranty is also worth having as theya do actually repair you machine if it goes wrong.
