The BBC will also have live coverage of England's first knockout clash - possibly against hosts Germany or Poland - if they qualify with ITV taking picks two and three. The remaining games will be split between the two broadcasters on a one-by-one basis.

First choice of quarter-final also goes to the BBC, which would again be England if they make the last eight. BBC will take first and fourth pick of quarter final games, with ITV taking picks two and three

And any England semi-final or final appearance would also be on the BBC as well as ITV...

  2. I still think, it would depend on any offers that may (or may not) come in after the World Cup. If he plays a blinder over in that then that could decide things (as I guess it would if any offers come in for Neill too), especially as I agree, it may be that case that he's been benched too many times and too often for it be a "gee up" ploy.

Still, for the price we paid for him, I'm sure we'd make a tidy profit on his sale.

  3. Dare I say that we needed this result. After the high of beating Man U and a good decent run of league results, this game was a kick in the nads and will serve as a warning that we shouldn't get complacent and get too confident.

I fully expect Hughes to get it right and back on form against Everton. Especially if Everton play above their station against Chelski in the midweek replay and suffer a comedown at the weekend against us.

  4. Just shows that Souey hasn't got the ability to manage at the "Big Clubs".

Didn't do too well at Liverpool (lowest Liverpool finished in years when he was there, even despite an FA Cup win), and now Newcastle. Rangers don't really count tongue.gif considering the standard of league opposition (no disrespect, like) and the amount of money he had available. Not sure how well he did at Galatasaray (or whichever Turkish team he coached) though.

Did not too bad at Southampton if I remember, but I think he only left due to spat with chairman.

And his early years with us, getting us back into the Premier and into Europe, and winning the League Cup, eternally thankful for, notso for the latter part of his reign with the usual bust up with players, getting rid of them (even though they were decent) splashing the cash needlessly and the poor run of results.

If he does get back into management, would be better off starting low (Fizzy pop league?)

  5. What gets me, is that we banged in 4 goals, and none of them from any of our strikers. Ok so Bentley was a make-shift striker (and has done well), and the other goal was a penalty, but not bad considering our "depleted" strikeforce.

So maybe for the West Brom game, or at least until Bellamy gets back, Bentley & Pongolle up front?

Oh, and message to RFW: No-one likes a sore loser rover.gif

  6. Hughes comes up with the quote of the season, to Gary Neville “You’ve always got a lot to say for yourself haven’t you? What don’t you f*** off?” Too true. Concise and to the point.

Good article that Bob. Incidentally, when did Sparky say that ?

In the tunnel after the Ferdinand/Savage argy bargy in the 2nd Leg I think it was

  7. Last time we reached the final against Spurs they actually stated that the game was not interesting enough and if two bigger clubs such as Liverpool, Man U were playing they would air it.  Buttheads or what?  First things first though, we have tonight to get through.  It will be even more lopsided refereeing tonightcos the FA simply MUST have at least one big market team in the final.  You'll see.

Did they not watch the snorefest that was last year's FA Cup final then? "Big" teams in a final do not always equal a good game. Although last year's League Cup Final between Liverpool & Chelsea wasn't too bad.

Here's hoping we upset the media and get to the final rover.gif

  8. Why does the national media want an English manager, is it so they (the national media) can pick the team for him, or so they can manipulate him, or is it so they can easily track him down and dig the dirt on him.

Surely the next England manager needs to have an up to date knowledge of world football and not be limited to just managing in England. Mark Hughes certainly comes into his own on that score having managed theWelsh.

But out of the list of English managers surely Peter Taylor has the widest knowledge of the game with his involvement of previously managing England and the under 21's.

Is the FA run by the national media ?

Makes no difference. Didn't the media "pick" Venables and Keegan? And look what happened there.
