  1. Went to Dagenham and Redbridge v Lincoln on Saturday. Away fans only had terracing so had to stand. Will now be a militant AGAINST standing because:

    It allows scummy blokes to gather round you and make lewd comments. And follow you when move to get away from them;

    It's REALLY uncomfortable;

    So what you are really doing Jan, is support the SUSD campaign to allow people the CHOICE or whether to stand or sit?

    thus allowing those who want to sit to sit without people blocking their view by standing, and those who want to stand be able to do so in peace.

  2. There do seem to be fewer drummers thereby making it easier to keep in time and respond to the crowd rather than drowning them out - this may work! Marked improvement in atmosphere this season so far - whether this is down to one (better) drummer, the quality of football, us in the BBE, a good away following or the positive results, I don't know but long may it continue.

    I posted exactly the same on the offish forum yesterday Drummer Boy.

  3. Then we didn't see the same game. Perhaps you had one pint to many.

    Perhaps you have no idea what you are talking about. I was sat at home watching the game on telly, having not drunk a single alcohol beverage for days. And then I drove a few miles to collect our babysitter - not that my private life has any relevance to this discussion, but whatever floats your boat.

    Perhaps you are just blinkered towards him and cannot admit when he isnt great, he was better yesterday than for the last few games, but not entirely up to how he is able to play. But he has always been inconsistent, hence not being good enough for a "top 4" team.

  4. Can someone reassure me that Zurab is currently injured and therefore I should not assume that Hughes prefers Aaron Mokoena as the defensive utility player on the bench. Mokoena has played his part, I accept that, but surely Zurab is the superior CB/RB and having played CM before in his career, should be on the bench ahead of the Axe.

    I suspect it is due to the fact that Hughes see's Mokoena as a utility player, he has never been keen on an out and out centre half as a defender.

  5. And you will find that I am semi supportive of having A SINGLE DRUMMER there.

    The problem tends to be with Billy's hangers on who feel the need to bang out of TIME (not TUNE FFS!) with the chanting of the crowd. They struggle to keep in time with each other, never mind with a couple of thousand people....

    Anyway I've done this to death, Ive spoken to them about it, will it change? Time will tell.

  6. The drums have never been a problem for me personally, i've always thought they were good for the atmosphere HOWEVER those plastic bloody horns...god no! I had 2 kids behind me with one EACH for a game last season and they sound bloody awful... they are a cheap replacement for the good old fashioned air horn, which in moderation I don't mind!

    Do you ever start chants? To get a few thousand involved? For some one to then start banging a drum to drown our the support for the team and stop it dead in it#s tracks? I do, frequently.

  7. For the first time in a long, long, time the waiting lists for old trafford have dropped significantly.

    Thanks not quite right daren. This "waiting list" didnt appear to exist when they emailed everyone asking them if they wanted to buy a season ticket - I got one as I bought a ticket in the home end once, several years ago.

  8. Nevermind the fact that there is a clause for next season in Benni's contract, I think that I'm also correct in saying that at that point (contract becomes 'unprotected') he's entitled to buy out the remainder of his own contract and in essence leave for 'free'. Looks like the very best that we can hope for is £5m or whatever Benni's wages are over two years. (Probably around £4m at a very rough guess).

    I am thought that wass only after the 3rd year of a contract.

  9. Good grief - vicar is still being paid by the church after being jailed for sex offences

    The Church of England says: "We have to follow the law" - in that case surely the law needs to be changed so that money doesn't continue to be paid once a man is jailed for these type of offences.

    This really winds me up.

    Its a piece of cake to sack someone, from virtually any position, as long as you follow statutory procedures. Which should take a maximum of 14 days, followed by an appeal, so a further 7 days.

    I hate it further when employers blame red tape for their own incompetence. If only they hadnt changed the rules so that vicars couldnt seek recompense for "unfair dismissal" et al as they were employed by God, who couldnt arrange representation!

  10. Without replying, as I know all the facts in the case, just a point as I am aware of a forum who received a lovely letter for statements about him being imprisoned for drink driving, he was not convicted of that. Sadly.

    But well done for the rest of the cut and paste job. For the record I agree with your sentiments on him. He is an odious little man.

  11. Well thats Sheff United away out of the window. I dont think one of these 'my mate works for the FA and they say we are playing x first' has ever come true!! Truth is unless you are extremely high up in the FA you will not know who we play first....and even the chief exec probably wont know until a couple of days before.

    Unless you are part of the team, yes there is a fixtures team, at the FA.

    For example the FA Cup draws have already been made for the early rounds and are released on a "for eyes only" basis to enable leagues to plan fixtures.

  12. I'm sorry but I have to laugh at the lot that are on here slagging him off for "going public". It so laughable that you think that every new report is a new interview where he says he wants to leave.

    Seriously. He gave one interview and they cherry picked the quotes to run their story. Now every other rag cherry picks the cherry picked quotes to run their story looking for some other over the top way to present it. Thus Benni has to fight off questions like crazy, and other will go to Chelsea (the obvious link) and find someone with the slightest link to the club and get them to say something in order to make a story.

    Benni is under contract, and supposedly there is no clause, therefore he's not leaving for 6 million, unless Hughes thinks its good business for the club (which he'd be daft to think, and he's clearly not daft.)

    When Benni is still here at the end of next season, and has netted another 20 or so goals, will all you slagging him off for his lack of love for Rovers still be hating him?

    Absolutely laughable.

    He gave two interviews.
