  1. Repeating myself here, but he does seem to have an uncanny knack of getting on the end of chances. You can't teach or learn that imo, you've either got it or you haven't.

Not only "chances". But strangely enough virtual shoe ins. Far too soon to write him off.

now Rev, interesting, having watched Matt at various points throughout his career, both at Great Harwood and Ewood he has always been able to that, he lacks, as I have said repeatedly real pace and shooting ability.

You can teach someone to shoot, and they dont necessarily need real pace to be a success.

  2. Hee gave me the impresssion he is very unhappy with the Board telling lies in the press about new deals being offered and he says it has resulted in him being booed.

The constant statements by Mr Peter Harrison are the reason he has been booed. Nowt to do with Rovers statements on the matter.

  3. I find it a bit odd that there's been nothing from the club about it, but this really is a devastating blow (for the player as well as the team of course). It looked like our recent good form was set to get a timely boost with the return of some key reinforcements. Hopefully there's nothing in this or the injury isn't as serious as first feared.

If it happened yesterday the club would presumably want to have a 'proper' report - ie after tests before they make any kind of public statement.

  4. An Everton fan was slagging our support this morning on talk sport. He said we were offered 6000 tickets and only took 600 fans.

Of course he didn't mention the open spaces in the home ares.

We probably were offered 6000 tickets - 15% under FA cup rules.

To be fair to the bitters, it speaks volumes when they can only slag off the support - if I were them I'd be looking closer to home after a thrashing by a second string!

  5. "A real goal"

IF Matty can continue with his good progress he COULD be just what we need, and in fact have lacked for ages - a proper box striker.

How many times has the ball gone into the box and we havnt had anyone following in?

    Plenty and if's and but's.

Still hoping I'll be proved wrong on this one.

  6. It would do if it were based on fact. Evidence that Charlton rake in an extra 7 quid per seat than us??? And aren't they the club that put on free transport from deepest Kent?

Usual 'estimated' nonsense dressed up as gospel that we've come to expect from our Maltese accountant

Charlton match tickets are more expensive than ours, especially for "concessions" and they havnt run free transport for years, its £5 per seat from anywhere on route, and it makes a profit.

It would be interesting if we could somehow conceptually validate the 13 quid number.

You think John Williams is telling lies? Personally I bvelieve the figures add up, as previously demonstrated. ven my two adults and a kid averages £15 per head, per match.

  7. Incidentally, I have seen the Rovers' accounts and I can immediately see why there would be no money for transfers this January. The Walker Trust's £6m is plugging the gap between Charlton's gate money and our's.

What about the £3.5m+ for the difference in league placings Phil, if only it was as simplistic as people make out.

  8. Is that not what I just said Stu? Certainly £15 is fantastic value but even the £30 is sod all for 3 European matches.

    No.

You said "very little...... but so have non season ticket holders in effect"

I was simply adding, that your "very little" is half of anyone else's "very little"

Or at least that's what was written in the Ryanair toilet cubicle. :P

  9. Your point , Stu ,was that it was "impossible" to have lower prices at FA cup matches . It is not .

Neither is it as simplistic to claim that high prices equals maximum dollar . Would £50 a game achieve maximum revenue for example ?

Thanks for telling me what I was saying Phil. Next time Ill put it in enough detail for you. :)

  10. Yeah really sounds like your trying to correct me, not at all sound like your trying to get one over on somebody?:lol:

I believe that was after you suggested certain things..... which has now been removed.

Bottom line, you used figures which were wrong. I provided the correct figures. As you say, they didnt actually change the material point (hence the  smiley )

Now, must we continue this? Its incredibly dull and pointless.

  11. Wiki was wrong Rovers.co.uk was right, not my fault if a website is wrong and the figures doesnt really effect the point i was trying to make. Think its more a matter of you trying to get one over on someone which is pretty sad. Oh well...

Oh and speaking of people getting reds on there debut, didnt Gary Flitcroft get red carded after like 3 mins on his debut for us?

Or, I was pointing out that something was incorrect. Remove the chip from your shoulder, and perhaps you wouldnt get such a hard time.

    And yes, he did.
