  1. Carrick? Eer, no thanks. under-performing over-rated player... if ever there was a player born to play for Spurs. And if the MGP bids turned down again, I think there are lot worse things that could happen than to go for a gronkjaer loan. Inconsistent, blah blah blah, he'd still be a good loan move it it meant we could gather the extra coppers to finance a permanent MGP deal.
  2. Wonder if Duffers fancies a loan move Still, I wouldnt say no to Babyraro, Melchiot, or Huth... although Huth is a bit of a dirty bugger.
  3. From what people have been saying, he sounds good, but I wouldnt judge that on a GS price tag... Ciccio and Yorke, anyone?
  4. While I doubt I'll be singing his praises any time soon, if he's a Yorke replacement, then fine. If Stead carries on like last year, then he's a first teamer for sure, ditto Andy Cole. That leaves Dickov, Gally and Jansen. Gally probably should go onloan somewhere to getr some first team experience (he isnt Premiership quality yet), and that leaves Jansen and Dickov as back-ups. One ageing but good quality player in Dickov, and one potentially lethal player who hasnt found consistency... seems like a pretty balanced setup to me. So, Dickov, good buy. Yorke, goodbye.
  5. Didnt Chelski add Myrhe or however you sepll it, to their ridiculous amount of 'keepers?
  6. At least we know why you are called parasyte now! Perhaps add very ignorant and brainless to that one. Mandarin is the most spoken language in the world followed by Spanish, then English. So we should all go and learn Mandarin and Spanish. Why should we 'expect' everyone to speak English, learning a bit of the local lingo goes a long way to being accepted by the locals. It didn't do Del Boy any harm knowing a bit of French Mandarin may be spoken by more, as is Spanish, but neither are international languages, which was my point if you read the opening line. When your in foreign airports, sea ports, and official buildings, its a requirement to speak English, as its THE international language.
  7. On topic: Does anyone have any reasonable reasons why GS isnt making a firm bid for Pedersen yet? T^he worst that can happen is that it'll be turned down and the bid will have to go up/withdrawn? Off topic: Seeing as English is reconised as an international language, and is widely spoken on 5 continents, it makes the whole argument a bit pointless. If English were forced to learn French, etc, to the extent the French know English, what happens if you went to the Ukraine? You'd speak English... its possible for multiple countries to learn a second language, its nigh on impossible for one nation to learn god knows how many languages. Thats why learning one is pointless... only one (or two) countries is where it will be usefull.
  8. Languages have now been pulled at GCSE level. Get to year 9, and then years 10 and 11 you can drop it for another subject. Isnt complete arrogance great...
  9. Quoting £7.5 million as an acceptable sale price is completely irrelevant to the current situation with Cole. When you buy players of a certain age you have to accept that the price, like a car, depreciates over time. If you purchased a brand new car from a showroom, after three years you would sell it on for less than you paid and accept that the difference in the two purchase prices is the cost to you for three years motoring in a new car. The same factor goes for player purchase. When selling a player clubs offset how much they pay for a player against how much 'value' they have obtained from the purchase. In Cole's case such matters to take into account would include him making a valuable contribution to saving us from relegation two years ago and a cup in the trophy cabinet. I accept that you know that we wouldn't get £7.5 million IF we sold Cole, but you may as well say that you hope we can sell him for £30 million and use the money to buy back Duff and put the rest towards a new hotel for the Riverside - it's not going to happen. I assume your last line about lemon zesters was supposed to be funny. It wasn't. Perhaps subtle sarcasm isnt quite your thing, but I am happily aware we would be lucky to get anything for Cole, and I must apologise that my sense of humour is obviusly at a lower state of maturity than your own good self... tithead.
  10. I hope to high hell that Cole stays, unless we get the 7.5 million or so we paid for him back, which is highly unlikly. On the Fowler front, if a swap is in line, I wouldnt mind a Jansen/Fowler swap... sad as though I'd be to see Matty leave. If Cole goes though, I will personally rip out his knee caps with a lemon zester.
  11. If Cole leaves, Rover's can start chatting the ugly bint at the bar that is relegation. His goals are invaluable. Despite Steads emergance, Cole is still a top striker, managing to get 12(?) goals for a club that scored bugger all. If he goes, however, I think a price tag of at least 2 million would need to be paid for SOuey to agree to let him go. While it seems a lot for a 32 year old, he's a32 year old whos stil lscoring, and one of the most important assests to the club, aswell as being one of (the?) biggest buys in the clubs history.
  12. Rumour has it he kicked the ###### out of Phil Brown at a club function when Brown informed him that he was only getting a game for Bolton because his dad was the manager. I now for the life of me cant remember who his dad was? One of those 'know it, but cant remember it' situations.
  13. I feel for Smith as a fan of Leeds, but the club as a whole, including Smith, just havent been good enough. Man City have avoided relegation largely due to Anelka's 16 or so goals, something Smith is capable of, but just never did. He tried 110%, which is great, but he never chanelled it into what he shoudve been.
  14. I know this thread was only ever meant to stir discussion rather than anything else, but its been drained dry now, and is just heading for more handbags.
  15. If he brings in Hendry as a coach to: a.) Sort out defensive frailties and b.) Help with motivation then Souey will have a lot more confidence from me. I think he's a good manager - one of the best british ones around - but a space of a year has seen to many spats with players. If that gets smoothed over in close season and things get back on track, I'd stick with, if not, I'm afraid I'd say show him the door.

    An Idea

If someone has the ability to abuse office appliances, then why not shoot off a few, and just hand em out for free before going into the game?
  17. To the tune of Wake Me Up by Wham Stead-inho, he gets us goal-gaols With his head, his feet and his toes* Steadinho, he gets us goals goals, And we're walking off with 3 points tonight. *Line needs work
  18. Souness... the failure that took a mid table Div 1 side two two consecutive European ventures. I know how you feel, I had my heart on winning the title last year.
