[Archived] Rovers Uefa Cup Coverage?
doctorryan replied to spencey7's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Just remember this phrase Flops: "PLAUSIBLE DENIABILITY"; one of the most important things you can possess in life. Great free kick by Sav. And in Luke's defense; it looked like he was seeing the ball out with regards to the Red BSer to his left when the scorer came in from behind on the right. He maybe could've done more, but he could've received some help too. -
We're not getting a big crowd for Salzburg at Ewood regardless of the first-leg score.

It's a shame all those links were for a Chinese match. -
People, let's face it. There's only 1 "European stage" that matters & we're not on it. It's the European Champion Clubs' Cup that everybody wants to play for. We'd probably make much more going 0-0-6 in group of the CL than we'd ever make winning the trophy in this 2nd rate competition. That being said; it would be worth advancing if, in group or a later round; we drew from the clubs below: PSG Panathinaikos Parma Chievo Schalke Leverkusen Ajax Legia (for payback) Fenerbahçe Feyenoord Celta Hearts Rangers Sevilla One of the above would at least draw some interest, ticket sales & TV money like Celtic did 4 years ago. To take some of the statements above and turn them around: I'd rather finish 4th & get eliminated right now.

Having seen the tape-delay, I first have to apologize to the skipper. Lucas played pretty well today and the "off the wall" remark looks really stupid when you see Benni giving him the good-luck kiss while he was lining up the kick. However; Benni should still have been the one taking it. We'd be celebrating a 1-0 win if he had. The rest of the team was for the most part average with our wingers having the weakest days. Try to remember the international calendar might have had something to do with that. On the bright side; Brad was/is in top form and we got our first clean sheet with the back 4 in some disarray at the moment. Emo continues to look great at RB and Lucas seems suitable enough at LB, but he'll need time to develop things with MGP. I definitely think we're better off overall back there; especially if The Admiral can get back anytime soon. Andre has the goods; let him figure out the league's pace and his teammates (especially Brad). We know what we've got with Zura and the boxing twins. It all starts there at the back; they don't score - we don't lose. Tugs will start to figure out where Benni, Shaba & Jason want the ball, Reidy will hit his 3 or 4 thunderbolts, MGP will hit a few veins of form (along with more valleys) and as the season progresses our better training standards & fitness will start to show. By the holiday season you'll all be crowing about this and that and talking about star-ball badges on the shoulder next fall, as well as fretting about Lucas and complaining about why the trust and board won't spend funds whose true first purpose in life is to secure a safe, prosperous and sometimes downright cozy future for the beneficiaries of the Jack Walker Trust. Our club is but one of many on that list, and definitely not the most important. Next. -

I swear if I was Benni I would want to throw Lucas off the wall. You never call your scoring stars off of a spot kick. Especially when you score 2 goals a year. 3 points just tossed in the waste bin. And then he's the one who's subbed. And now a penalty for the Blades......Brad again!! Unbelievable. -

For all we know that was the actual piece of information Souey used when he made the decision to go after him. -
It might be fun to see what they're saying on the West Ham boards today.

Those 2 both Lesucked LeChuck. A. the badge is in the wrong place. B. we're not tennis balls. C. we're not the Essendon Bombers. Some form of red & black with the badge on the left is the way to go. If you're against those sorts of things, well, too bad. You're way outnumbered in Roversland on each choice. You do, however; seem to have some "friends" in the offices at Ewood. I apologize if you consider that an insult. -

Uh Aggy; I'm not sure what you're talking about. But if my guess is correct, here's my answer: Blue is darker than white. Black is darker than red. Consequently the colours are on the appropriate sides. -

The Worst England World Cup Performance Ever.

Gee; I thought it was when you guys lost 1-0 to us. -
Much more than a bit. It was definitely designed to amuse those who don't care, not to upset or get a rise out of those who do. Oh boy, where do we begin? First of all; most of my fellow citizens don't "get" football (association) and in order to appreciate any sport (or anything for that matter) you have to "get it" on some level. So therefore I wouldn't waste any time or energy worrying about what most Americans, scribes or otherwise, feel about football. Enough of us do care, so much so, that our TSTs sold out immediately through both FIFA & the USSF and that small bunch of lads we're traveling to follow only happen to be rated top-5 in the world. And Jim, while it is true that many Americans aren't to aware of the world outside the US, certain people have historically kept doing things outside our borders to remind them. Like, oh, say a couple of world conflicts, neither started by us, both avoided by us as long as was possible, but ENDED by us.

This is a public board Tony D. People can come here and read posts even if they're not registered. It's a public record out there for all to see. Which in this case makes it a good thing for you that one can still maintain a certain amount of anonymity. DaveyB, thanks for backing me up. Make myself look daft, huh. The advantage rule(& please correct me if I'm wrong Davey) is found in FIFA's Laws of the Game, Law 5. I'll just paraphrase the good parts: 1) The referee allows play to continue when the team against which an offense has been committed will benefit from such an advantage and penalizes the original offense if the anticipated advantage does not ensue at the time. 2) a referee is not obliged to stop the play to show a card because if he has already clearly shown that he is playing the advantage rule, he can wait for the next stoppage in play to do so. Please Tony, understand the laws.

But Eddie he did stop the goal, which left him with no wiggle room to do anything other than show the red. What he should've done was not blown the whistle, let the goal stand and then send the prat off for a professional foul. Incase the "he" Eddie is referring to is the prat himself instead of the ref; the fact that he didn't stop the goal doesn't figure into it. He took a guy down by cupping his hand or grabbing him at the ankle. Whether that was done on purpose or not; that is a red card if it's seen by an official. This one was.
-
It was a professional foul speeeeeeedie. You don't like that being pointed out, too damn bad. Who would have won if it remained 11 v. 11 is irrelevant. It was 11 v. 10 and that's the way it should have been.
