  1. Goalkeepers: Robinson / James / Green Defenders: Neville / Ferdinand / Terry / Campbell / Carragher / Bridge / Cole Midfielders: Beckham / Lennon / Lampard / Gerrard / Parker / Carrick / J. Cole / Downing Attackers: Owen / Crouch / Bent / Johnson
  2. I think we'll lose, but as 'Boro rested much of their starting 11 against United, I expect Bolton to have a tough game.
  3. He hasn't set the world alight in his first season in the premiership, but Emre is a superb creative player who can control a game. However, he has had long periods out with injury and, let's face it, has been playing under Souness! It might take alarge fee to take him to Blackburn, but if we make Europe, that's better than he's going to get with Newcastle.
  4. Now that Birmingham are down, I think Hughesy should make Pennant his number one transfer target. Other than Pennat though, I can't see any other players good enough for a European run. Pennant and two top class strikers and we will go a long way next season!
  5. Oh, another thing, Pongolle looks a really good player, I like him a lot. I think we should keep Bellamy and Pongolle at the club, get rid of Dickov, Kuqi and Gallagher and look to bring in two top quality, tall and powerful players. Pongolle and Bellamy looked very good together today, but there is no physical presence.
  6. Haven't read the papers recently, but I am told there are stories about McClaren shagging his secretary? Well, back when we played 'Boro in the cup, the guy sitting next to me, who had a friend working at The Riverside, said that apparently the reason Boateng wasn't signing a contract was because he and McClaren were both shagging teh same secretary... Well it looks as if he was right about one thing at least! Sometimes "my friends brother's mate Jeff" stories can be true...
  7. That was a superb performance and Reid has improved immensely over the course of the season. Tugay was influential as ever and we deserved to win by more than we did. Also, Rob Styles must think he has the power of god the way he was handing out bookings. The only yellow card we deserved was when Pedersen dived.
  8. Dammit, I said I thought Scholari might turn the job down, but I never put a bet on McClaren.
  9. If Bobby Robson wasn't quite so old, he would be my first choice. I didn't know quite how impeccable Scolari's cv was. When you put his achievements next to Steve McClaren's, there really is no comparison. I'm starting to come around to not having an English manager, but it's difficult after having a foreigner like Sven in charge.
  10. Does anybody know of an online bookies where I can bet on next England manager? It seems most have suspended betting now that Scolari looks very likely to become manager, but I have a feeling he might turn the offer down. In any case, I was hoping I might get some very good odds betting on McClaren.
  11. And in the context of how the match was going, it was a very memorable goal. Thompson brought the score to 2-2 after being 2-0 down in a cup game. It was a great goal by one of my favourite players to play for Rovers.
  12. But like most matches these days, it's been ruined by a another poor refereeing decision. Shevchenko scored a perfectly legitimate goal, but it was disallowed by the ref because a defnder tripped over himself.
  13. Barcelona vs AC Milan has been a far better match so far. Neither team is resorting to all out defense and neither team is resorting to throwing themselves five feet in the air or kicking the crap out of the opposition. The football is of great quality and it's end to end stuff. I couldn't predeict a result as both teams have so much quality. People in England rave about Fabregas, myself included at times, but I wonder if he'd get into either of these teams...
  14. Henry desperately needed a man to play alongside him last night. Often he was dropping in to midfileld to get the ball or on to the wings and when Arsenal broke, they didn't actually have a single striker up front. If Adebayor or Van Persie had have been playing, then I think Arsenal would have won last night's game.
  15. Wow, couldn't believe it when my ticket arrived this morning. I only bought it yesterday!
  16. I'm really happy another English club will be in the final again next season. I too have a soft spot for Liverpool, but am reasonably neutral when it comes to Arsenal. Villareal were disgusting with their cheating tonight and the ref was abysmally biased towards the home team. Every corner Arsenal got, the yellow submarines would just wrestle them to the floor or pull them all over the area. That is a penalty. How it cannot be given I do not know. As if that wasn't bad enough, Villareal would cynically foul Arsenal players and, in the case of a foul on Ljundberg, stop him when he was through on goal. Yet, I don't think a single Villareal player was carded. If I were Wenger, I'd have been fuming. No mtter how poorly Arsenal played, they deserved to win for these reasons.
  17. That's exactly the same for me. I try to tell my friends that he is extremely inconsistent and that he often goes missing in games, but they think I'm not a "real" fan or something.
  18. Good post AESF. Just two hours ago in the pub my friends and I were discussing how respectable Shearer was and that he only left Blackburn for his childhood team. I guess I was rather misinformed. I feel somewhat differently about the man now.
  19. Unless the defender's name was Amoruso, then I don't think Emerton would scare anyone ****less with his pace.
  20. I cannot believe that Thompson's goal against Charlton in the league cup has not received more votes. Even more unbelievable is the fact that Thompson's goal is not even available to vote for on the official site. It was an absolutely fantastic strike in one of the best games I've ever watched. However, it was extremely dificult to chose between this, Tugay's against Fulham and MGP's against Fulham. After a lot of thought, I decided to vote for the latter as the build up was just exquisite.
  21. Grrrr last season's premiership game and this season's cup game at The Valley I was able to buy student tickets. This season, however, they don't seem to be available.
  22. It's nothing to do with the standard of keeping when it doesn't even beat the first man, which is the case with about 8/10 MGP corners.
  23. Eddie, buy the tickets on the phone or on the net, and wait until friday to see if they come. If they don't, then phone up the Ewood ticket office and explain the situtation. They'll be able to get some tickets printed off at Charlton's end and, upon arrival at the ground, you'll be able to collect them, so long as you have some I.D. I was in a similar situation once, but I phoned the ticket office on the saturday of an away game. They were very helpful and I was able to pick the tickets up. In any case, just phone the ticket office and see what they say.
  24. So in the space of two days, you have gone from predicting a 4-1 defeat to a 2-2 draw?
  25. I've got to say I'd probably prefer playing Peter next season over accepting a part deal involving Reid. If we fail to qualify for Europe, I think that selling MGP could be a good move in that it would give us anice bit of cash to put towards new players.
