  1. This really is a vital game. I think that Spurs will finish above us despite the result, but wouldn't it be great to get 3 points from one of our toughest remaining fixtures? With MGP doubtful, this could be Peter's chance to shine. I'd play an unchanged team. No reason to change a winning formula. As for the result, I'm going 2-0 Spurs in a very tight game.
  2. What's excellent is that we have more than one option on the left wing. Compare that to under Souness. He is a different option and a good late substitute as he can get the ball in the box and run at the defenders. I think the reason we are getting excited about Peter is that he is a flair player, who beats his man with confidence and is a conventional winger, which are quite hard to come by.
  3. This whole "weight" issue isn't even an isue! I know we like to playfully label him a bit of a pie man, but he's hardly overweight.
  4. Hell yes, we should bring Dunn back to Ewood Park. He is a quality player recapturing his past form, with injuries behind him. He's a local lad, a former crowd favourite and a creative enigma. I'd take him back in a flash - even if we had to bid a similar amount as we did with Savage. It's a real shame that Brum are looking firm favourites to avoid the drop - I'd take Pennant, Heskey and Sutton in a flash too! EDIT: Phil, even if the Baggies get a win at Brum, I'd still put Brum as firm favourites to avoid the drop. West Brom's next 5 games look very difficult indeed.
  5. Bellamy single handedly set up our goal yesterday by drifting out on to the wing and beating Senderos all ends up with pace and skill. I have no probelsm with the style in which he plays.
  6. I'll echo the thoughts of some; excellent result today, but let's not get too excited. Personally, I think anywhere in the top 10 will be a good result this season. Sixth place would be simply outstanding but I'm not counting on us getting it. I'm not sure who to cheer for tomorrow - Wigan or UTD. If Wigan lose, the Uefa cup spot will go to 7th and we have a very decent chance of getting that.
  7. Never machine wash football shirts. That's something I've learnt. As for the kits, I'm well chuffed. I'm not too keen on the little segments under the arms, but other wise it looks good. The away kit looks great!
  8. Attacking? Hahaha! His form of attack is to go a goal down and bring on a defensive midfielder. If England score an early goal, he defends for the rest of the game... and usually brings on a defensive midfielder.
  9. You've got to be mad. Chelsea can boast a starting line up inclusive of Cech, Terry, Duff, Robben, Lampard, Crespo. United have Ferdinand, Ronaldo, Rooney, Van Nistelrooy - all world class players. Arsenal have Campbell, Cole, Henry, Pires. Argueably the reason Arsenal are doing as poorly as they are is that they have found it impossible to replace a world class player in Viera. It is these kind of players that make the difference between mid table and champions league. The nearest thing we have to that quality is Bellamy. To compete with these teams we'd be looking at having to replace most of the team. A new winger and a striker away from challanging for the title? Don't make me laugh!
  10. Didn't think this was worthy of its own thread and remembered Philipl's high expectations of Liverpool this season. Well, I haven't really seen Liverpool play much at all this season, but today against United they have been top class. In midfield they have to be the strongest side in the premiership, in terms of depth, strength and physical attributes. In defence they are completely solid and Riise and Finnan get themselves forward at every opportunity. They play big strikers with aerial ability and play to their strengths, putting as many throws, free kicks, corners and crosses in to the box as possible. They are one world class striker and two world class wingers away from challanging regularly for first and second place.
  11. I'm surprised to hear people criticising Tugay. I wasn't at the match, but the Sky Sports player ratings give him a 9/10 and comment that he "ran the show" ?... In any case, his inconsistency is really hampering our form as, on his day, he is such a key player for us.
  12. hahaha. I'm four seasons in and have finished 8th, 6th, 5th, 4th and now should be challanging for the league. Despite finishing fourth last season I lost every game to the rest of the top five, some as stupid as 5-1. The only game I won was 6-4 against Chelsea. I replayed the same game against Man U once and out of six matches I lost every one and in each conceeded within 8 minutes. My biggest criticism of the game is the amount of goals scored in the opening minutes, or even seconds.
  13. Hleb? You're mad. But I agree that Ambrose might be a good shout.
  14. I loved that kit when i was younger. Back in the days of impressionable youth, I would wear any teams kit that I thought looked good. That was the only kit that I had the shorts and socks to as well!
  15. God the mock up kit looks awful. The badge in the middle is bad enough, but those extra mpieces of blue and white under the sleeves - as is modelled by MGP - look so crap it's untrue. Atleast have the extra white below the blue and the blue below the white... if you get what I mean?... Funnily enough, I don't think the sponsor looks bad at all.
  16. Hahaha, well done Souey. He was in a win win situation. Do well and save your reputation, do badly and make 3-5million. He might not be a good manager but he's pretty smart.
  17. ARGH! Why is it that you ALWAYS lose to Man UTD, Chelsea and Arsenal about 4-0?! I went 3-0 down to Man UTD after 26 minutes. It just doesn't happen, yet in my game it happens every shittin time i play them. And I've had enough of conceding after all of 30 seconds. It happens so often it's untrue.
  18. Crap missed MOTD. Can anyone tell me when it will next be repeated?
  19. Not sure if that was a joke, but that it generaly what football is about... I'm going 2-0 United.
  20. Only just got home, I'm tired and miserable so I'll keep it short. We were undone by pure class. I think the players should be really happy with themselves. But, for Kuqi, they have Saha, for Bentley - Van Nistelrooy. It doesn't matter how good the team plays or how good the manager is, we were undone by moments of pure class. Money controls this game and until we get investment on the scale of United or Chelsea, we won't be winning anything soon. It's just so annoying that a team that wins everything has to prevent a dream final in Cardiff. Gutted.
  21. The second one for the home kit and the red one for the away . I'll make sure I cast my vote.
  22. How did Sergio Peter play when he came on today? Watching MOTD, Reid seems to have a lot more confidence going forward these days and always manages to pick out the wide men. It looks like something that's been practiced in training and it succeeds in getting a lot of balls into the box.
  23. I'm not picking on you, I'm just taking it as an example. Perhaps I've misinterpreted what you've said, but, I'll never understand this desire to drink before a game. Sure, have a drink while chatting in a pub, but if there's no pub available, then so be it. But "having" to drink cans on a train? I just don't understand... Going up to Blackburn from Preston on the train, there were a load of guys drinking cans and bottles on the train. They were loud, obnoxious, tipsy, if not drunk and were quite threatening to be around. Likewise, a lot of youngsters were also drunk and threatening. Now while not all people who drink before a game get drunk or become abusive, this drinking that is rightly associated with football is, in my opinion, what puts so many people off the sport. I know a lot of people who view football fans as drunk hooligans and I think it is a major problem for the game. I'm also against drinking on the train because of all the rubbish that gets left over.
  24. Well I, for one, can say that I have had no such problems about Harchester United being in the game.
