  1. That is why he should be in the team over Dickov. Brilliantly taken goal by Stead who has played well the entire time hes been on.
  2. What the hell's happened to Friedel?! He came out, closed down Bent and mae a great save.
  3. I'm confused - the rovers-store website has both the home and away strips marked as £25... I would definately buy another shirt if it was only £13. If somebody could clear this up that would be great.
  4. Oh come on now, Duff doesn't give a crap about this club. If he did he wouldn't have celebrated with such enthusiasm after Chelsea beat us.
  5. Watched the Chelsea - Barcelonda match and I feel really aggrieved; argueably the only English team with a chance of winning the competition were robbed of what looked to be a win by the worst refereeing displays I have ever seen in my life. EVERY decision of the first half went against Chelsea; Deco should have been sent off for the amount of dives he did and Drogba definately did not warrant his yellow. Second half and the same thing continued when Drogba was given a second yellow for simply going for a ball close to the keeper. It was at this point the advantage switched from a pretty dull, but effective, Chelsea team to the flair of Barcelona who could now exploit the space and force Chelsea to play deep. They scored twice and could have had more. Chelsea's hopes have been pretty much dashed by a ref. clearly intimidated by the 85,000 Barca fans after he was hit with a missile in the earlier stages of the competition. To Barca's credit, they played very wel after the sending off, but that incident certainly switched the balance of the teams on the pitch. What's so aggrivating is that he will get away without any kind of dicsipline or anybody really noticing or remembering. Sickening; if it were mere mistakes it would be ok, but this was clear intimidation in a big game atmosphere.
  6. OH SO WHEN MY NAME IS HIGHLIGHTED I SHOULD SIT AND BE QUIET? I WILL HAVE CRACK WITH ANYONE ASK CC IF IVE EVER GIVEN HER ###### ,STICK YES CRACK YES . AS FOR THAT PRICK IZZISNOT,ENOUGH SAID,HE PREACHED BULL FROM START UNTIL HE FINISHED........... ITS A ROVERS BOARD AND I WILL STICK UP FOR ROVERS ON HERE. AND AS FOR CALLING ME NEAOWHATEVER ,YOU DONT EVEN KNOW ME. Come on now Abbey, is this really necessary? And a PM as well? I'm not having a "pop," at you as you claim in your PM, it's pretty immature to assume that I am and I didn't call you a neanderthal, just that you were talking like one. Me get a life? Perhaps you should learn to not be so easily offeded when you are so utterly intolerant of those that visit our site; you were insulting izzitnot as soon as he came on the board, before we realised he was a bit of a waste of space. Everyone appreciates a friendly banter but not all of us enjoy reading a site filled with foul language and out right abuse.
  7. Give it a rest Longsider, you're becoming pathetic. Why are you showing us this pointless thread on a crap forum full of idiots. What is fact is that the improved, and excellent, stewarding at Ewood has resulted in far less violent and controversial incidents in recent years, as GAV has previously stated, something which doesn't seem to be achieved at Burnley judging by the three incursions onto the pitch on Sunday. History will always remember the actions of Burnley supporters and one guy throwing a poxy coin pales in comparison. Both clubs have idiots in their fan base, lets accept that and move on. What one Rovers fan on a pants forum like that one proves is beyond me. I know, I'll search the internet for any Burnley fans that don't like Rovers and post every one of them on this thread to show Burnley fans responses.
  8. For gods sake Abbey, can you not be more articulate and enjoy a friendly banter instead sounding like such a neandathol? You're just giving these guys that visit the site, Birmingham, Burnley supporters and others, ammunition. It's not just Burnley fans, you're utterly intolerant of any fans on the board that support other clubs.
  9. Cheers for everything Den and I echo the thoughts of many others when I say how good I think it would be to have a worst ever 11 or a greatest ever player. We've had the serious voting, how about a bit of extra fun now?
  10. Have to add that I thought the ref today was superb, every decision he made was right. Who was he again?
  11. Rovers Sheffield Wednesday West Ham Sporting Lisbon Inter Milan
  12. Sorry Modes I hate people being patronising, and I'm not trying to be here, but I really think you need to look twice at his performance today. Watch the first 5 minutes of the game and it says it all - I lost count of the amount of times he ran head down into defenders, wasting possession and a decent chance to attack. He must have done this two or three times in the first 5mins. Throughout the game he did this and when he swapped with Pedersen, we lost any attacking edge we had. He never got wide enough, wasted a golden move in the second half and was just poor. Now I think he started the season much better and was all for him being in the team, but he is being out-shone by Pedersen now and is going back to his performances of last season. Thompson or even Reid would be a better alternative on todays showing.
  13. Personally I thought he did more backing in than holding up and missed a blinding opportunity that a better player would have won the match with. In terms of work effort and graft he is a good player, but without any kind of class, or even a remote amount of skill in Dickov or any of his partners we're going nowhere fast.
  14. What struck me the most from a fairly disapointing game was just how appauling Emerton was - from the off he ran himself into corners, players, the touchline, but never into a decent player. Bad control, bad runs, bad balls - bad everything today and I hope to god Thompson is brought on in his place. However, we also have a central defense to envy, a partnership that reminds me of that of Berg and Short when we finished in 6th. Nelsen has been an amazing signing and Todd is an inspired captain. Johansson and Neill also had good games today I felt. Tugay was also pretty anonymous in a game he should have run although Savage was very good once more minus a stupid yellow card at the end. Pedersen was again very good, although his corners seem to have been exhausted. Upfront we were dire, Dickov did very little and Gallagher nothing. Johnson does not have the presense to make an impact as sub and we have no cutting edge or skill - its all graft. Very disapointed with Hughes defensive approach; he knows what this game means to the fans but he only made defensive changes in a game we desperately wanted to win.
  15. Watched the football first highlights and thought we rode our luck in the first half and certainly didn't deserve to be 2-0 up. If that were Chelsea and it were Robben or Drogba on goal, we would have been on the other end of that score line. One clear opportunity was created when Mokoena was drawn hopelessly out of defense, leaving acres for the attackers and Norwich missed a tap in when Johansson kept them onside and then proceded to leave his man in the middle of the area. Going forward I thought Emerton was pretty anonymous; every time he got the ball he ran forward 15 metres then passed it straight back from where he came. Pedersen was terrific though and finally we have some kind of a threat from corners. Also, while not setting the world alight, Tugay and Savage complemented each other well and made a decent partnership - Tugay's ball for the first goal was magnificent and Pedersen did very well to work the finish, while Savage wasn't too dis-similar to Ferguson, just with the ability to tackle. Half time and, although we played well, against a better opposition we could well have been behind. Mokoena and Johansson were disapointing and the defense looked shakey and going forward Gallagher wasn't in the game. Second half saw Neill for Mokoena and Nelsen to right back. The result was a solid unit and Nelsen looked far more comfortable in the centre. A very assured performance, Pedersen, in particular, making real progress I still don't think we have a cutting edge to our strike force and, although Dickov scored twice, he wouldn't have done against better opposition considering one was a fumbled long shot and the other a near post header Only real disapointments were Johansson and Mokoena, who gives me the chills every time he has possession of the ball in the back four. Huge plus points - Nelsen and Pedersen, the former who was solid in the centre and steady on the right, the latter beginning to show what he can do.
  16. From my observations, Lucas Neill has been little better than abysmal this season, with a couple of average performances recently. I haven't watched the football first highlights from this match, but I find it astounding that you cannot recognize his appauling positioning, inability to hold the offside line, his poor passing and his all too often loss of possession in attacking positions.
  17. The only way in which this vote is flawed, despite Den's admirable efforts, is closed minded youngsters who vote their favourite recent player without even considering the rest of the field, just like when Cantona was voted as clear winner for MAN UTD's best ever player. 18 voted for Jansen? Come on! And before anybody says anything, I'm not one of the "old giffers," - I'm 19.
  18. As the title says... I'll listen to any offers people might have. I cannot make out all of the signatures but I am pretty sure it is signed by the first 16. This wasn't an official match ball
  19. I thought Todd and Nelsen were very good for us tonight and the back four, as a unit, worked well together. However, Matteo has to be the worst long range passer I have ever seen and Neill was very much to blame for the goal as was Freidel who let it right under his arms. I have changed my mind on Thompson - he is not a central midfielder; he vanished for long periods tonight, wasted possession several times and did not have the defensive discipline to play the role. Otherwise, I thought Savage was good and Mokoena really helped us keep prolonged periods of possession but offered very little creativity. It really showed again that we missed Ferguson. Pedersen and Emerton didn't have particularly bad perfomances tonight but Emerton, in particular, did not run the line nearly enough and we didn't use the width available. I was very surprised tonight that the long balls played upfront actually caused Chelsea a bit of pressure, but Dickov on his own just does not work. He is not a goal scorer, constantly gives away fouls from backing in and does not have the presense to trouble defenses. I was also pretty annoyed that Hughes did not seek to change the team, even though we never looked like scoring in the first half. Pedersen was within his right to go for the ball as it was in only one hand and therefore Makele should have been sent off and a penalty awarded, but I do not blame the ref for not giving it. All in all I thought this was a boring, gritty match and we did very well in containing Chelsea and keeping possession but there was no edge, no creativity and no final product. We will not survive if we cannot get the ball in the net and playing 4-5-1 gives us nowhere near enough bodies in the box for crosses, which were infrequent tonight.
  20. I think the money we got for Ferguson was very reasonable - it's not that which irritates me; I voted no because to let argueably our best player go at this stage of the season, without a replacement or an additional signing, on the closing day of the window is suicide and it has left us in a dangerous position. If he knew he had another 4 months at the club then he would sure as hell have to try his best becasue, for all he knew, Rangers would not be able to come back in the summer with the same bid. Poor, poor decision by the board and a horrible way to end the transfer window.
  21. Yet we have six strikers and none of them are good enough. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally ###### at Ferguson leaving, especially an hour before the close of the window, but it's the failure to sign a striker that has really hit me hard. Our failure to get Bellamy hurt more than Ferguson leaving. Like you say, we cannot throw bodies at a position, but atleast we have some kind of cover in Thompson who has yet to prove himself in the position. However, upfront we have nobody that can score a goal - I'd get rid of four of our strikers if it meant getting one in of great quality.
