[Archived] Hooligans Yet Again
Billy Castell replied to soueyisgod's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I agree. That weasly little ___ will ensure that all that'll happen is a £50,000 fine or something like that. And yes, that has blown our chances of hosting the world cup, as FIFA, UEFA etc. will all jump on the 'only the English are hooligans' bandwaggon yet again. I would like the teams to be banned from all cup games for 3 years, fined at least £500,000 and forced to spend the rest of the season playing behind closed doors. I'd even give them a points deduction too, but I don't think the FA has that power since it was a cup game. The reason I'd be that harsh is because it was all premeditated and planned, and that there were several incidents, and not one. I'd all put on a indefinate travel ban on any individual convicted so they can't have a passport and cause trouble abroad. P.S. For once I agree with AESF's headline too. -

Mathew Kelly appeared as a serial killer on one of those ITV crime shows that appears on 9pm. I forget which one as there are many of these. -
[Archived] Big Ron Forced To Resign
Billy Castell replied to jim mk2's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
The Chris Rock definition of the word is appropriate in my view, and it desacribes a certain kind of person. And I do feel a bit sorry for Big Ron that one moment of madness. He may be slightly condescending towards or look down on black people, but quite a few his age are. No doubt Mr. Rent-a-knob Ian Wright will 'tell it like it is' in The Sun or wherever. -

The whole Old Firm, bigotry, Belfast Lite nonsense that the fans indulge in over at Weegieland. -

I wonder if wee Barry has arranged for his local chippy to make deep fried mars bars so he doesn't get homesick? Or for the porno boys to sign songs about the UVF? I hope he gets stitched up like a kipper every week. -
[Archived] Drugs
Billy Castell replied to philipl's topic in I Can't Believe It's Not Football Archive
As far as I can make out, the USA has very hard laws against drugs, or at least there was a move in that direction during the 1990's with Newt Gingrich leading the way. Some federal propsals included life inprisonment (or maybe even the death penalty) for people who deal weed, as well as the harder stuff but I don't think that came about. Add to that Plan Colombia which was hijacked by the DEA to concentrate on using vast amounts of pesticides and military hardware to destroy cocaine crops and you can say that the USA have been pretty hard. We're not talking Arab levels of droconian laws, but very far from the Amsterdam attitude. By the way Plan Colombia is/was an environmental disaster that has achieved nowt. -

Listened to my copy of SFA's Hey Venus! at last. I was OK, but nowhere near their best. -

He was a very good player when he left. No idea whether he is still a good player. I seriously doubt he's worth £35,000 p/w let alone £65,000 p/w -

I liked their 80's purvy stuff, and the early 90's stuff like I Feel You, but what little of their latest stuff doesn't do it for me. There are some good remixes on the 81-04 remix album. Get the 3 CD set from internet shops, as there are 1 and 2 CD sets too. Eminem is boring and dated. He was witty and biting when he first came out, but now he's old hat. He has done a load of crap after his first album or two, and now he's struggling to recapture that early swagger. I'm not really a fan of rap though. -

"The sky is falling, the sky is falling" Drunk man shows pants-hardly the Jamie Bulger murder is it? I bet ASEF sits there all night waiting all night for the next story of a misbehaving football player, and then jizzes all over his keyboard as he types words such as 'outrage' and 'disgraceful'. I bet he had a semi whilst pasting the pictures. I bet I get a warning for this. -
[Archived] Citeh To Sack Barton?
Billy Castell replied to LeChuck's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Rooney is a foul mouthed, potato faced goon who at times looks like he wants a red card, but he doesn't go as far as Barton. He doesn't stub cigars in people's eyes or beat the crap out of 15 year olds. Not as far as I know anyway. -
[Archived] Citeh To Sack Barton?
Billy Castell replied to LeChuck's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
It will stay the same. Barton is a reasonably good player, but a contempable so-and-so as a person. How many chances has he had? How many times has he gone to 'anger management' classes? As a victim of an assault that thankfully was much less than Barton has previously done, I haveno time for violent crapbags like him. He'd be inside for something if he wasn't a football player. -

The biggest turd in the pie is Barton's psychotic temper. We have had to work so hard to counter that 'dirty Blackburn' tag, and this would destroy that work. He's a pretty good player, if injury prone over recent times, but as a man he is a complete ____. His presence in a dressing room may be far too disruptive to risk. He is lucky he is not still in prison. My respect for Sam would decrease considerably if he came. I could just about tolerate Diouf, but Barton would be a step too far. -
[Archived] Champions League
Billy Castell replied to Oklahoma's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
The Uefa cup is too long winded to appeal to most, and is further cheapened by all the Champions League rejects that get let in. There should be 3 knockout tournaments played on a 2 legged basis. 1. European Cup-Winners of every European League 2. UEFA Cup-Domestic FA cup winners and the runners up of domestic leagues (e.g. those placed 2-4 in the Premiership) 3. UEFA Bowl-Those placed 5-7 in the Premiership, Fairplay award winners and League cup winners. The UEFA Bowl will not be glamourous but at least it will offer some European trips for clubs and fans. We need a return to the old fashioned ties if European football is to be relevent and interesting to fans of 99.9% of football clubs. We need another Goteborg or Nottingham Forest or else we may as well not bother. -
[Archived] *Poll* Barry Ferguson
Billy Castell replied to den's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Ferguson and McGregor both go on some all-night bender with other players inbetween internationals, get punished and then sit on the bench giving v-signs to the cameras. That is what happened isn't it? Personally, I'd be more annoyed by the drinking that's just me I guess. What happened to the other players who were also having a session? -

Brilliant news. My 20 year old friend will be able to see why I like them so much. Much better than the pathetic Motley Crue Abs loves so much. Mind you, without the big haired nancy boys we would not have heard of Metallica, Sepultura etc. As for Jacko, someone I work with really wants to go, and is tempted to fork out £700 for the remaining ticket. The only ones left are the top of the range tickets. Mind you this woman thinks Katie Melua was better live than Muse, so she officially has no taste. And she likes Dido. -
Didn't even know about the second. There are plans to remake Hellraiser apparently. Pretty old news, but worth restating. Mark Kermode's film review was in front of a live audience in Leeds and was quite amusing. It's on BBC Iplayer at the moment. It's worth hearing it for every time Marley and Me is mentioned.

It is amazing what steroids can do nowadays. Is Gran Torino a Dirty Harry film, or is Clint a totally different character?

Holy Crap. that is great. Sure sticks one up Panic at the disco! announcing a new album or whatever. -
Benny Button seems a bit too Forrest Gump for my taste. It does amaze me that Slumdog Millionaire almost went straight to DVD, and now look at it. I want to see Frost/Nixon.
-
OK, but I agree with Mark Kermode about the 'Bayification' of US cinema, and so many films have no plot but loads of explosions and CGI.
-
Didn't Bay direct Pearl Harbour? Nah, I don't go for his crash bang style, it can be all shallow.
