  1. He'll never playfor England unless he signs for Spurs or some other 'big' club. Or the mainstream press start a campaign to hype him up as the greatest young talent around (e.g. Nugent).
  2. Got round to the Boro Pat yesterday. It's f__king mint as he would say.
  3. It did describe The Axe as a striker on the BBC rumour roundup. Maybe we could get a better fee for him if we keep this up!
  4. I was quite disappointed with Rosenrot though. Still, it could be worse, they could have let My Chemical Toilet do a cover of Du Hast.
  5. There are a lot of samey indie bands around at the mo, such as The Cribs, The View, Pidgeon Detectives and so on. They all merge into one for me. Same for those 'heartfelt' singer-songwriter chaps with acoustic gituars like James Morrison-Blunt, Daniel Powter etc. And I can't stand those frigging Lilly Allen types who all drop all the le'urs in a midduw of words, an' sahnd like 'is. Kate Nash is one example of this. Lilly Allen is bad enough, without crappy copycats. At least I hear Rammstein are back in the studio. And I can listen to Angel Dust at my leisure.
  6. I thought Ray Winstone was really good at that role on TV. Can't see Johnny and Tim pulling it off. Tim Roth or John Malcovich would have been a better bet.
  7. Well I like it, as it shows all the build up and the politics before the action. Wheras Pearl Harbour was plain crap. A typical modern Hollywood film where the CGI and big explosions mask the hollow and rubbish nature of the film. Personally, I'd find Kill Bill more dull, as it is Quentin Tarantino tossing over various movie references and being too self indulgaent, and not simply being an arse kicking action series. I would remmend City of God to anyone though.
  8. Ordered these on DVD last night: Ordered the German film Goodbye Lenin as well. I do love all the old epics as well. Can't wait to get a copy of El Cid.
  9. Especially when you see the crap we had when he first took over. Dominic matteo, Mickey Gray and Nissa Johansson probably all played in his first game. Actually, what was the team in the first game?
  10. SSN said 'former Chelsea and Celtic' striker Chris Sutton retires. Bet you all love that. Just like Shearer, who Newcastle signed from Southampton
  11. Topgun is as gay as an episode of Will and Grace with guest appearences of the Scissor Sisters and Freddie Mercury. It is also one of those awful vacuous 80's films that launched the career of that prat Tom Cruise.
  12. He does look very different with hair. The style reminds me of Simon Cowell. I'd rather have Shearer circa 1992-6 than Henry, solely because he was more effective than Henry for getting goals. If I had both in the same team, I'd be laughing like a nutcase as I left the Champions League trophy.
  13. No wonder why Bellamy and Dyer are/were so quick, they're probably as high as a kite. (only joking lawyers, don't sue). I can imagine the flash players like Dyer, or people like Bowyer trying that sort of stuff at some trendy nightclub. Maybe it fueled all the aggro AESF mentioned. Who knows if any of this speculation is true?
  14. • Top Loader Saw these when I was about 17 or 18 at squires in Bedford. All I can remember from the gig was the singers' comedy hair, breaking up with my then girlfriend (thank God), and the music being utter toilet. • Stereophonics Saw them at Reading 2000, and they were pretty good. The duet with Tom Jones was great. • The Charlatans Seen them at the V festival a couple of times. OK, but a bit boring. Inspiral Carpets were much better. • Mel C (yes, but she was very good all those years ago) Saw her at V 99, and she was OK. Not as sh_t as I had feared.
  15. Eff off Benni. We don't need you. If you go to West Ham it'll prove what a fool you are. Sick of these one season wonders. I don't want Taffy Chav back, and if someone wants this tosser pay the going price-£12m+ No-one is bigger than Blackburn Rovers Football Club, and no-one is irreplacable.
  16. I have, and they were quite good, 7/10 etc. Shed 7 were better.
  17. The ex got the better deal I'm afraid. The Feeling are dire, they are the worst band to emerge this century. Horrible, twee, sentimental rubbish. Even worse than Vanilla who had a minor hit with 'No Way'.
  18. Do you have any pictures to show us all Abbey? Wonder when Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster are going to release a new album?
  19. I don't mind a bit of cheesy rock, but Motley Crue are just too much. The whole hair metal scene became a abomination, as the bands became increasingly concerned about drugs and hairspray and less about the actual music. Poison, Motley Crue and all the rest were just a bunch of girly hairdressers really. AC/DC are the right side of the line though. I quite like them. And if you want pyrotechnics, watch Rammstein. I mentioned Nirvana as they were a band that spearheaded the grunge scene that was a reaction against the dodgy music that pretended to be rock or metal at that time.
  20. Motley Crue are embarrassing. Sorry Abbey but they're really naff big hair ponces. And Papa Smurf are one of the worst bands of the last 20 years with their fake whiny depression. They're as bad as Nickelback. I'm not into many new bands either, they all sound the same to me. They're either serious, slightly arty indie (e.g. Editors), or the kind of rougher indie that Oasis started off as (e.g. Little Man Tate, that band from Dundee). And if its a solo singer, they're one of those 'heartfelt' singer-songwriters who write boring love songs whilst strumming an acoustic gituar (e.g. James Blunt, James Morrisson). We need a new Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana or Metallica to get things pumping again.
  21. Just skimmed that analysis philipl, and it seems that Man Utd are doing enough to stop the administrators coming in, but are not really cutting down the debt burden at all, and with the interest increasing the debts, there could be a big pile of poo and industrial sized fans waiting for them in the medium or long term. Would that be an accurate summary? What a shame if it is. I bet we'd all be gutted.
  22. Oh by the way, I was only trying to look at it from a different angle. I personally think drink-drivers are prats who should be banned from driving for at least 5 years regardless of there being any accidents, and they should be treated harshly if there is. there is no excuse for it when its common knowledge that alcohol affects judgement.
  23. I hope he doesn't play for England. Who'd want to play for a dead country full of socially inept drunks who have the intellectual capacity of a wheelie bin? F_ck England, Rovers is all I care about, and if Bentley blazes through next season, and McClown pick J-Anus and Dire ahead of him, he'll lose his job after another failed tournament. Then we can all laugh..............especially when McClown is replaced by Alan Pardew or Stan Ternant. Bentley is too good for England, the media and the mass of drooling twerps who support the two of them.
  24. So he should remain unemployed for the rest of his life? Whilst I agree that his early release is not a good thing, I believe that people should be allowed to have a second chance and make up for past mistakes and crimes. What Hughes did was immensly stupid, and led to someone dying, but you don't know whether he's feeling overwhelmingly guilty about what he did, or whether he doesn't give a crap. Hughes should be given a chance for atoning for previous sins. It is easy to act like those bearded women who wanted to stone that bloke for saying Jehovah in The Life of Brian without knowing Lee Hughes or whoever it may be, or being in a similar situation. And it is not like Oldham are offering £115,000 p/w or anything. EDIT: I have just remembered that it was a hit-and-run incident. I don't what what would happen if I'd been in the position of being a drunk driver, and I hit someone. I'm guessing that Hughes fled because he wasn't thinking straight, and the shock of the incident may have triggered some sort of survival instinct as in "sh_t must leave this bad situation". I don't know, but that sense of panic may have been the reason why he fled, as much as a calculating move to try and get away with it. The only way to really know what was going through his head is to ask him. The only thing I do know is that the police station my sister works in was flooded with 'relatives' (i.e. journalists) asking whether he was being held in her station (he wasn't).
  25. To be honest I don't give a sh_t about England, let alone the U-21s, so I'm happy Bentley pulled out. If David is right about telling the England heirarchy about not playing a while ago, then Pearce should be angry with his employers for not passing the message on. As for those saying 'how can he be tired, try working down t'pit for 29 hours a day?' all I can say is different people have different levels of stamina, and running 8,000-10,000m twice a week can probably take it out of you. It's just a shame it has become another stick to beat Rovers and Hughes with. Bentley shouldn't be in the U-21s anyway, what would he gain from it? And the end of the tournament is near the Intertoto game dates.
