  1. I can't see how Leeds are going to pay "some of his wages", The Producer, but he's obviously going to have to take a pay-cut to secure a transfer to Rovers - Souness and JW aren't known for their excessive wage offers.. 2 millions per year, for Leeds wasn't it?
  2. Haven't been too positive to this transfer prospect, but I must say that we could do a lot worse! (take that, Titus Bramble!!) At least if we can get him for 750,000 - that was the initial demand from Leeds to the club who wanted to loan him, if I'm not mistaken.. read it somewhere, can't remember where though!... He's not too pacy, he's not Cristiano Ronaldo, but he's tough, he's not SLOW, and he's leftfooted. He's also "just" 30 yrs, which means that he could have 4-5 more good years as a CD!
  3. Andy Todd for something between 500k and 750k - I'm sure someone will pay up. Dwight Yorke, will free 500k in wages alone. (don't know the exact figure, but surely?)
  4. Nah we were just told he was the Norwegien Beckham... It was never explained just which Beckham he was. The ex-goodlooking one, if i recall correctly..
  5. Morton Pederson EVERYONE, looky here !! Who can find the wrong spelling ?? Morten Gamst Pedersen Nils Eric Johansson Martin Andresen James "Jay" McEveley Bred Fridel
  6. Just to make sure no one misread the quotes above, here's the translation of the article: According to English tabloid The Mirror, Blackburn is now ready to launch a 25 million NKR bid for Morten Gamst Pedersen. (about 2 mill pound) But MGP does not want to go to England to sit on the bench. Morten Gamst Pedersen: Of course I don't leave Tromsø for another club to warm the bench. (poor English?) If a pro career outside Norway is going to be a reality for me, I want to be good enough to fight for a place in the first team. The winger knows he could be sold to the British Premier League club in a matter of days. MGP: I've spoken to Martin Andresen, and I've got the impression that Blackburn wants to buy me to play me. So far, Tromsø has declined every bid made for MGP, but the winger does not hold a grudge. MGP: If Tromsø doesn't want to sell me, there's no use in crying and complaining. But of course, if I get the opportunity now, it would be great! Tromsø has so far not heard anything about Blackburn making a 25 million NKR bid for Morten Gamst Pedersen. Tormod Myrvang, chairman Tromsø: We haven't heard anything from Blackburn. We haven't had any direct contact with them since their offer last week. (define direct contact anyone??) Myrvang does not want to comment whether a 25 million NKR bid for Gamst is enough for Tromsø to accept. Now, Tromsø awaits further progress. TM: The ball is in Blackburn's court, we are in no situation where we NEED to sell players.
  7. Don't think this have been mentioned ? MGP - Won't leave Tromsø at any cost ! MGP states today that he does not want to go to a foreign club at any cost, he wants regular first-team football next season. He says that after talking to Martin Andresen, he got the impression that Blackburn would offer him that possibility next season. However, he says that if Tromsø declines all bids for him, he won't complain, but if he gets the chance this year it would be great. He really seems like he's interested in a move! I believe, after reading this, the deal will be done in the next few days. Right now it does seem to be a bit confusion between the two clubs though, since JW claims that Tromsø needs to say "we will sell MGP if the price is right", while Myrvang in Tromsø says that "the ball is in Blackburn's court"... To save your time guys: 1) Tromsø WILL sell if you (JW) make a better offer for them 2) Blackburn ARE interested, if you (Tromsø) just name the price !
  8. Very few moonlandings, but at least we've got Carew flying up there.. mentally anyway..
  9. If the content on the Sky site is correct we have offered only £900k with £600k dependent on appearances etc. then? That's right.. I think both parts knew that Tromsø would reject that one.
  10. Karyaka seems allright, but as a Norwegian I would much rather see Gamst coming because I have seen him and know what he's capable of. Don't want a new Donis Disaster do we? The worlds quickest winger, didn't stay too long did he.. And, we do have quite a lot of time to ###### around, after all the window hasn't even opened yet.
  11. Why do you think he wants to play against Man U ? Tromsø did a correct decision to reject the bid now. He will be sold later, to another club or to a higher bid. This is a great day for us Tromsø supporters. The management has gotten our respect with this decision. it tells us that they have ambitions with this team and that they are willing to listen to us and all the others that have had some views about this issue. - TROMSØ - until I die Why he wants to play against Man Utd? Because at this time, he hasn't got a chance in hell to play FOR them, and playing Arsenal, United, Chelsea and other quality teams every week beats playing Viking, Lillestrøm and Odd Grenland. "Everyone" is supporting some major club, and I'm sure Gamst is levelheaded enough to see that he hasn't got the ability to play for them yet. He needs to take one step at the time, and that one step is to move for a Premiership club, or alternatively Rosenborg - who hasn't got the money to buy him. I'd hold on to those cheers a bit btw, don't expect us to give up that easily. As someone else mentioned here, I also think we tried a cheeky low bid, and that the "we have been snubbed" reports to the media is part of the game.
  12. I understand why you have this nagging thing, Den, 'cause we have seen these things go wrong before - but I think that Baggio got a contract more because he had a name, and Souey thought: "Well, he'll probably show his qualities some time between now and the end of the season". MGP hasn't made a name for himself yet, therefore I think it will be safer - he'll be bought for his potential and his ability, not for his 60 caps. I still think and hope we will get MGP for about 2 million pounds in July, even considering Tromsø's economy and current position. Gamst being a United-supporter won't change things I think, and certainly not in a negative direction - how long does he have to wait to play against them in Tromsø ??
  13. Well, den, Souey has been watching MGP quite closely, and he knows his qualities and what he needs to work on. He needs to get stronger and obviously get used to the tempo in the Premiership, but he also has got some qualities that the Rovers team absolutely lacks, like a GREAT left-foot and the fact that he's a natural winger. He could also become a good goalscorer IMO. He's not to unsimilar to Solskjaer in playing style really, although he's more of a winger than Solskjaer.
  14. Doesn't say how much Rovers wanted to pay, let's hope we started low, since they didn't want to negotiate at all.
  15. Remember that these numbers are taken out of nothing really, just assumptions (spelling anyone? ) from the journalist. 30 millions = 2,4 million pounds btw..
  16. Well done, Rainmaker, well done. Glad you did it, was NOT ready to start writing that whole article.
  17. red scouse did not turn down duff, rather they could not come up with the princely sum of £17m to trigger the clasue in the contract. i read somewhere that they had made a bid of £8m...which was totally laughable. as they say, regarding pedresen...is that sometime you gotta throw them in and see how good theyare. there is no way of telling how good someone can be unless you give them that chance..... i think he referred to some years ago, when Duffer signed up for us as a youth, he could have chosen Liverpool but they didn't want him. ...and Newcastle didn't want Shearer either!
  18. Sorry, buy you're just heading a bit out of your depth here.. What Andresen said was that Gamst had good chances to go straight into Blackburns first XI, because we haven't got any leftfooted midfielders. Sure he would make Blackburn a better TEAM, but it remains to be seen whether he can make our first XI better, Douglas has performed OK in that role... And the only difference between staying in Norway and leaving for Premiership and Blackburn is NOT money. In England, he would get to train and play against top-quality players every day. He would basically be forced to be a better player, to boost his own tempo, because if he uses the same amount of touches against Arsenal or Chelsea as he's been using against FC Lyn Oslo and Molde the ball will be long gone after a crunching tackle. That's just how it is, the tempo is a lot higher and the players are basically quicker and better. BUT; I don't think Gamst will stop his development by staying another year in Tromsø, he's not that good yet. He might be a bit light for the Premiership right now, but what I hope is that Blackburn sign him and that he'll get a major boost and develops into a quality player quickly - a bit like Solskjaer did when he signed for Manure.. (even though he was more proven at the time) Either way - no Norwegian club will get £3 million pounds for any player this season, if they do it'll probably be Brann's Olofinjana - and doubt that anyone will pay up that much for him either. And certainly Blackburn with Souey and Williams hasn't got the reputation for being pushovers in transfer deals, more the other way around. (Emerton, Ferguson...)
  19. No official bid from Rovers as of yet, according to Tromsø chairman. <<<< Click me >>>>
  20. "Hei, Pedersen, hva vil du gjøre? Bli her eller gå å spille i Premier League for Blackburn Rovers? Kom igjen kompis, det er ikke en altfor vanskelig beslutning er det vel?" Enjoy
  21. Oh please, why is it difficult to understand that players like Smith wants to stay at top level? The guy has yet to reach his prime, he's fighting for a place in the England squad and he's wanted by some top teams. He's said all along that he wants to play top division football, and when Leeds can't give him that then he has to leave. The board had told him he wouldn't have gotten a new contract anyway, even if the club had steered clear of relegation.
