  1. It was the Bomber Tour 1979 (ironically without the bomber lighting rig. The KGH lift was broken and they couldn't get the rig up the library lift and across the Northgate bridge) and the Ace Up Your Sleeve tour 7 November 1980 (this time with the bomber lighting rig).
  2. At their best at Blackburn in '80 and '82. Phil, Eddie and Lemmy. Was it Bomber tour and Ace Of Spades tour?
  3. Alabama 3 at 53 Degrees, Preston, Friday 13 November.
  4. It's very simple. The club is still on a downward spiral and nobody is willing or able to stop it.
  5. Anyone recommend a takeaway that delivers in the Rishton/Clayton/Great Harwood area?
  6. Hyndburn Bridge, Clayton-le-Moors reopens 30 September.
  7. Went on the train to Colne yesterday for the Great British R&B Festival. Interesting that hardly any of the pubs have shut in Colne. Nearly every pub and had live music on with free entry, except the Municipal Hall. There was also an open air stage in the market square. Managed to catch Jamie Thyer and The Worried Men in the Market Street Tavern at 4pm. They then played at the Duke of Lancaster at 6pm. What an amazing guitarist. Reminded me of Gary Moore.
  8. You could try the White Swan, Harborne Road, Birmingham, B15 3TT. Gladstone Small used to drink there when he played for England.
  9. Clayton Street chippy in Great Harwood takes some beating. You can eat in and they still do rag pudding.
  10. Anyone been to The Auberge, Rishton or Checco's, Great Harwood recently?
  11. Shaping up to be a good Bank Holiday weekend. Fri night Rovers v Bolton. Sat T20 finals day.
  12. Rishton CC, founded in 1865, celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, a full 10 years older than Rovers.
  13. Better than the spam and egg butty at the canal view cafe in Rishton? Surely not? ps The entrance is on the towpath.
  14. Aspinall Arms was very good on Saturday. Charcuterie board followed by rump steak.
  15. The Spread Eagle at Mellor is very good value. It has good views of the Ribble Valley and sunsets over the Fylde and Morecambe Bay.
  16. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club at the Albert Hall, Manchester last week. What a fantastic venue, a former Methodist hall, there's stained glass, moulded plaster and carved woodwork everywhere.
  17. He's got a pacemaker now. Like a teenager again.
  18. I think we can all believe you for once.
  19. Motorhead, Friday night, penultimate band on the Pyramid stage. Highlight of the weekend, indeed highlight of many recent Glastonbury line ups. Glastonbury was originally a Hawkwind lover's festival. Lemmy was thrown out of Hawkwind for taking the wrong kind of drugs. What could be more Glastonbury than that!
