  1. Of the '95 title side's regular players, only Henning Berg was non-British.
  2. You should read the Todd thread.
  3. A tad shortsighted, Neill ain't good enough, regardless of comittment, Todd may be a loose cannon but we're well short of cannons right now.
  4. Paul... ...moving the deckchairs on the Titanic methinks - Rovers were well beaten. The defence is dire - I shudder to think what Ray Harford would have made of it!
  5. He might want a full refund if things get any worse.
  6. I can see it now.... ......Theno in his bathchair in the newly re-branded Riverside Executive Stand, prawn butty in one hand, plastic cup of bucks fizz in the other. Then, as the newly signed Burmese international skipper comes on, the heavens open with Theno screaming at the nearest steward that he hasn't paid £15,000 for a 10 year debenture to wait ten minutes to be moved higher up where it's dry. On the Blackburn End Lower South Central (52 tickets sold every game - with free flags and drums) all the talk is of the forthcoming annual Umbro Intertoto Gran Canaria Tourney trip against Madeira Celtic. Meanwhile 15 oiks are still paying £3.75 at Stanley (incl. potato pie and 10 Park Drive) to hurl abuse against the visitors, this week it's the diehard four from Shepshed Charterhouse. Elsewhere, bingo halls across East Lancs are pulling in full houses (no pun intended), however storm clouds are gathering as Sky TV have announced a bid for global rights to show bingo nightly, fronted by Bob Fleming and Granada TV weathergirl Jo Blyth - a local landlord said it was the best thing ever to happen to his tandoori wine bar. Now where's me bingo card....
  7. Phil is absolutely correct here, anyone at Ewood Towers listening?? We seem to be on a marketing strategy akin to the superstores: 2 for 1 to drag 'em in. A longer term approach is needed simply because footie fans, like everyone else, are habit forming and get hooked on regular games at 3pm, at regular prices. Moving kick off times (granted beyond league control) and varying ticket prices just makes the habit harder to form (or easier to shake off) - not difficult is it?
  8. Gally is a good finisher, good coming off the bench and good at taking half-chances (any one remember Mr S Garner). Let him off the lead and lets see what he can do.
  9. Bring 'em on.
  10. Andy Crawford! Last seen on Filey Beach?
  11. How are we to measure the success of the Academy since its formation amidst all this talk of poor results and lack of talent? It used to be touted as the best in Europe but I rarely hear of it now.
  12. Quality.... .......and it brought back lots of memories. It is a comparison of two different games. Thank Christ I experienced 40 games a season of the first, Selhurst, Barnsley, Shrewsbury, Sunderland, Carlisle, Oxford, Wrexham, Preston, Bury and the rest..... .....and thank Christ I realised the second wasn't value for money, COMS, OT, Spurs, Newcastle and the rest. The Prime Minister in the 80's played a big part in the loss of this century of working class heritage. For those on this board too young to have experienced the 'first' type of game, its indescribable, that's all.
  13. I would be wary about committing to donations until the thing is successful.
  14. Seem to remember a screamer going over the bar at Tranmere in the draw which ended our losing run.
  15. Barbara and Co used to sell more prized, collectable stuff from the ticket office in the Nuttall Street Stand!
  16. Could have been Prenton Park 1992.
  17. Oz Hollands last time I went - no mother-in-law flavour on sale though. ps Tried a couple of liveners in Corbieres last week. Still the best jukebox in the northern hemisphere.
  18. That's maybe how the singing came about in the first place. And now the more they throw into the mix, the less the incentive to sing.
  19. I think that the Rovers officials are trying too hard. Everything they throw at the matchday 'experience' detracts from the crowd atnd the atmosphere they can and used to generate. Attending has become more passive and less active.
  20. Well said IHB. Compare Gerald Jackson's sanitised Ewood matchday 'experience' with an Accy Stanley home game. Much less expensive ticket (it is "div 4"). No crappy music opn the PA. You can stand up. Stewarding reasonable. The pitch is so close so you can hear the players & the tackles. No big screen. NO DRUMMER. No Gerald Jackson. Decent pies. No childrens section in the home end - Hallelujah! No Rovervision. Half-time devoted to refreshments & scores. A crackin' experience.
  21. Blackpool away. Long time since we played at Bloomfield Road in a competitive game. Bring it on.
