Still only 5 points of the playoffs, if he can sort of the defence we have a chance, but he needs to get a lick on.
Could have been worse, we could spent £150 and travelled!
Anyone seen Boris Johnson?
Only 4 points above the bottom 3. Lose the next 2 (quite likely with this patched up team) and the more likely outcome is relegation.

Has Tony wer going up gone yet. Completely lost the plot for me. I just want a manager that will play people in their natural positions...Corry Evan's left side of midfield. Dont make me laugh..
Evans should left.. in the team bus.

If I'd a £5 for every I've seen Lenihan come out of the back line to get involved and then fail to deal with the situation I'd be a good bit wealthier than I am now. Paul Jones is the same, he's never smartened up either and that's in spite of all the top coaches they've had at Old Trafford. You just can't tell some people, they have an inflated opinion of their abilities that's hard to remove. Being drawn to the ball is a falling in most positions but at centre half it's normally a serious issue.
I dont remember a Paul Jones playing for Rovers.

Trybull and Evans in the same midfield is like a double helping of potatoes. Trybull is at least visible unlike the ever-hiding Evams.

Not fair really. We’ve had some real bad ones over the years and I wouldn’t count Evans among them. Did you ever see Paul McKinnon?
Yes there have worse players but none of them have stuck around for 7years on top wages. Mckinnon was gone in little more than 7 weeks. Evans is like a bad smell that just won't go away. No doubt Tony has him lined up for another contract extension.

Pears looked like a rabbit in the headlights. His distribution in the first half was dreadful - slow telegraphed throwouts putting the recipients in immediate trouble. Does not command the area or anything really. Still Tony has done his old mate a favour....
JRC can't defend and has no pace to recover. Nyambe must be thoroughly pissed off watching that.
Douglas is no better than Bell.
Lenihan looks broken. Rubbish at both defending and distribution.
Evans must be the worst player I've seen in a blue and white shirt in 55 years. He offers absolutely nothing.
Gallagher couldn't trap bag of cement.
Apart form that all good.

I know the game is faster these days but back then the pitches were heavy going for at least half the season, the balls weighed a ton when they got wet, and the game was much, much more physical. When you consider that Matt's record was exceptional but I don't recall later centre halves - England, Hunter, Faz, Killer, Graham Hawkins, MacNammee, Kevin Moran, Hendrey etc missing many games.
McNamee missed alot of games and often played almost on one leg with hamstring problems. Players often started matches completely unfit (sometimes visibly limping) in those days when squads were much smaller. Moran too had many hamstring absences.

Trybull did more in 15 mins than Evans in his previous 150m. With Evans its like playing with 10men.

And I must be the only person who can't see anything at all in JRC.
No, there's two of us. He was no threat at all on the right flank and is persistently hesitant in possession.

Bell is utter crap. Defends like a girl and offers nothing going forward. Never takes responsibility in any situation.

Mulgrew lives in a make-believe land that thinks he can still play at international level. He has a history of leaving Aberdeen and Celtic in a bad odour. Just repeating it here.

Simon Garner must be on any legends list. Honourable mentions too for Tony Field and Derek Fazackerley.

Carter needs to go on loan. Massively below Championship standard at present.

Buckley technically looks a good player and looks comfortable on the ball. But he is to lightweight too often he has looked like a boy in a man's game. Physically he has a lot to do if he is going to play regular Championship football.
The same was often said about Scott Sellars but he didn't turn out too bad and at a time when pro football was much more physical than it is now.

If Sheff Utd wanted him why didn't they get him. Suspect that was agents and journos waffle. Anyway they can aim higher now.

Wouldn't be surprising to see Prem interest in any or all three of Lenihan, AA and Travis this summer. I'd imagine Mowbray is banking on a big sale if he wants any money to spend.
Sharpe saying Tosin and Samuel have likely played their last games for the club.
Lenihan isn't good enough for the Prem. Travis isn't ready. Armstrong is the one who will leave.

With their points deduction in mind Wigan winning on Wednesday would give them a max of 49 points (if the deduction is applied). They also need one of Luton or Charlton to lose or draw - they are ahead of both on GD by a significant margin. Charlton are away to Leeds and Luton, of course, play us.
We'll send Wigan down by losing at Luton.

I’d give Hilton a run out.
Mowbray won't want to expose himself to criticism if Hilton has a stinker in a vital relegation decider even though Walton will probably do so anyway. He went down like a sack of spuds for 2 of the goals today. Its almost a surprise when he makes a save.

There is a lot of deadwood to sort out.
I’d be shot of everyone below if possible:
Walton, Williams, Mulgrew, Bennett, Johnson, Smallwood, Rothwell, Chapman, Samuel, Gallagher.More likely to see more names above on new contracts with us next year than playing elsewhere though. That’s the reality with Mowbray
Leutwiler and Brereton can be added to that list as well as a host of U23 players who are well below Championship standard and always will be - Magloire, Platt, Grayson, White, Lyons fall in this category. More deadwood in this squad than the average timber yard.

Bennett was utterly pants at LB. Walton responsible for giving away another soft goal.

It's not money related. It's not because he's on 99 appearances, it's because him and Mowbray disagree. That's about the size of it.
Presumably Mowbray wants to make sure Mulgrew leaves as quickly as possible in the summer and at no further cost.

I think Brereton actually has a bit about him. He has good feet. Just feel he needs to be braver

Utterly nonsensical comments from Mowbray in then post-match interview. He bemoaned a lack of available defensive midfield players, naming Travis and Johnson, to enable the other midfielders to get forward. So what exactly are Evans and Trybull if not defensive midfielders??
