Good game for a neutral and yes, I would have been cheesed off if that penalty had been denied Celtic. Celtic have the second worst penalty conversion rate in the Scottish Premiership, so hardly predictable that they went on to win it that way. I was dreading it.

I hadn’t realised Hoillet was at Aberdeen and I’m glad he only came on as a sub. Celtic’s right back, Johnston is a very decent player but Hoillet caused him problems. Didn’t help that Johnston twice allowed him to cut inside onto his stronger right foot and from those crosses, two almost identical goals were scored.

Celtic just about shaded it, I thought, but it was still a poor performance from them.

Mark, for 25/30 minutes second half Aberdeen were absolutely pegged back in their defensive third and blowing out of their arses. On another day that would have been a routine 3-0 or 4-0 win. Forrest’s introduction made such a difference. Then Celtic’s centre half  Scales had a nightmare spell where he missed an absolute sitter of a header and then lost his man twice to allow goals from similar positions to the one he missed.

    Great game though!

just watched the scottish cup semi final epic game that finished 3-3,aberdeen denied a penalty in the worst decision in the history of football, predictably celtic go on to win on penalties, incidentally the best player on the pitch was junior hoilett who gave the celtic full back an absolute horro afternoon

Aberdeen did very well to take it to pens in all fairness. Hoilett made a big difference when he came on. As did Forrest for Celtic.

All 3 Aberdeen goals set up by ex Rovers players with Clarkson playing a slide rule pass for the first one.

Apparently the rules can only be changed with the approval of the Professional Game Board.

Have the EFL appointees on this board agreed to these changes without consulting their member clubs?

I heard that Rick Parry and another EFL bigwig signed it off?

The Rovers Trust will be approaching the club to try and elicit a joint statement and we have also asked for this to be raised in Parliament by a couple of MPs.

We have a Wednesday season ticket holder in the family and many of our close friends group are fans. I’m just trying to decide what I post in our WhatsApp group to get them going 😃

The 7-2 win or Semi final win in our league cup winning season 🤔

Throw in the 5-0 at their place a couple of years back for good measure Gav

The club have essentially trapped themselves on ticketing due to their high season ticket prices.

Gradually increasing season ticket pricing to a point where we have one of the highest starting adult prices, despite the greatest number of spare seats, one of the least affluent and most competitive areas in the country, before we get on to the other nonsense that goes on here under these owners.

this is only going to get even more problematic with increased Sky coverage, dodgy sticks, red button, less 3pm Saturday games.

Not only does this all put many people off buying a season ticket in the first place, but also it prevents the club, or seriously restricts it, in offering 'cheap' matchday tickets on a regular basis, as to do so would effectively undercut or wipe out the price benefit of being a season ticket holder.

This effectively means that we've got little alternative but to keep prices high to ensure season ticket holders still get 'value' for their money.

Ultimately it means we will be stuck in a rut as you aren't going to get massive numbers of people paying £25+ to watch Championship basement battles, especially not on Sunday lunchtime, Tuesday night etc.

There is a solution. Radically rethink the season ticket offering particularly on pricing and go down the route of Bolton and Preston. This doesn't mean just cut prices and sit back and wait for people to come. It means coming up with a marketing plan. It  means getting them on sale early. It means pushing them in areas, communities, clubs, schools, way above and beyond the current 'efforts' of BwDBC only.

Get the prices down, emulate Bolton

The ground is immediately more full, and then the added bonus is you can start offering matchday tickets at £20 a head knowing that even if you did it every week a season ticket holder would still be saving £100+ over the season.

    Excellent post, take a bow.

Sheffield is a two club city but it's massive compared to places like Blackburn and iv'e never known them come close to filling the DE before.

Oh I don't know. They brought some pretty big followings in the 80s (which bucked the trend back then). I distinctly remember their fans being on all 4 sides of the ground one night (a la Man City and Bolton) when they were possibly going for promotion? I think that might have been from the third division as well?

It’s a good point, under JDT )and Eustace at Sunderland) we’ve put in some cracking away performances and results - but at home, when did we last give a team a hiding?

The most recent ones in the league that spring to mind are wins at Swansea (3-0), QPR (4-1) and of course the 5-0 at Hillsborough against this lot but that was a while ago now.

    What top was that?

Were you rocking a nice pair of Bruno Maglis?

It was the same style top that John Lennon wore in the ‘Help’ video.

I had my trusty Adidas Japan trainers on mate, Bruno Maglis too good for gigs 😉

  9. The one he wrote with Noel Gallagher (called Jumble Queen) is an absolute banger!

Not sure about Soul Wanderings but the other slow new one, Nothing, sounds lovely.

I have also heard three others from ‘66’ played acoustically at a charity show in December. There’s one called Ship of Fools, a co-write with Suggs, that sounds amazing.

Im glad he dropped Town Called Malice from the set last night.

Highlight for me was a song called Rockets from the On Sunset album. Nailed it! Also, as a mod I was delighted when his bass player came up to me before the gig in the Drummers Arms and asked me about the top I was wearing 😎😉✊🏻🍻
