We are a week away from the start of the season and I would say one injury away(Graham)from being in a relegation battle.

Could accept loan signings if our "competitive" budget had to go on a striker which left us short on funds.

What I can't understand is if we are only bringing in 1 perm, then why are we spending what little funds we have on an area in centre half where we are well stocked.

If Mowbray didn't think Downing was good enough to step in why was he signed on a permanent deal in the first place?

Exactly my thoughts in respect of Downing. He probably isn't good enough for the championship so why sign him, unless it really was a cheap deal.

Did Rothwell play on the left, and is he particularly quick?

Davenport has seemed a bit hit and miss, he looked well out of his depth against Liverpool, well I suppose he was anyway v Keita and Fabinho but some of his passes were awful under no pressure.

Rothwell was central, at least that's where he kept receiving the ball. I like the look of him, got something about him. Davenport i expected to be better than Rothwell, but nowhere near at the moment. Caddis played left wing second half, now that was horrid to watch. Fisher also looks a lot better of a keeper than the Canadian lad. Travis was right back and looked way out of position, hes defo not a right back.

Not good. What did Rothwell do to impress, and what was so disappointing about Davenport?

Rothwell for me at least got on the ball and tried to make things happen and can take a player on, went past about 4 in one go, but no support for him. Davenport his first touch was awful all game.

  4. Well i really hope none of that squad is playing for us next season, bar rothwell. Absolutely awful from all of them. Special mentions for nuttall who really is a atrocious football player and Whittingham who was embarrasing. Davenport was very poor also. I've also seen a lot of people wanting tomlinson to be given a chance, but please dont, he was an absolute shithouse, poor player.

Im personally very hopeful that we stick to the 4-2-3-1 formation that has seen us well throughout last season. Our attempts at playing 3 at the back with the current personnel have been unsuccessful and I would hope that Mowbray sticks with the system that has proven itself to suit our current team.

You may be disappointed then mate Mowbray signed bell for a reason and has played bennett at full back for a reason. I can see a back three of williams, mulgrew and lenihan, with bell and either nyambe or bennett as wing backs in some games.

    He was absolutely phenomenal.

A good team performance and yeah it’s a friendly, but Dacky...

    Christ he’s special.

    Hes just getting warmed up.

Last season 11 behind the ball every single game, imagine how good he will be this season, with teams open against us every game.

Just had to Google who he is, what I will say is that his last 2 loan spells were in reasonable championship teams. Was in the hudds team that went up.

    Another midfielder though??!!

Hes a more can play anywhere type of player attacking wise, game changer, Just what we need, excellent signing that.

Apart from his goals Antonnson contributed very little.

I thought he had a really good spell around November and December time when he scored a number of goals, and was a real outlet for Raya, especially in away games, Raya would release the ball quickly (throwing, which worked well because his kicking is atrocious) and antonson would sprint away with the ball on the break, we scored a number of goals from that, at the time when we were scoring for fun i.e. 4 at Oxford and 4 at Blackpool.

More likely to be the player imo.

Its not its rovers, the boro chairman said so himself. Said the buyer knows the price and that its a steal at 2.5mil (could be a steal to be fair to him). Said he had to put that clause in becuase maddison wouldn't renew his contract otherwise, when it only had a year left on it. So for him it was either lose him for newt or at least get 2.5mil. The buyer (which i assume is us) wants to pay over 3 or 4 years and that there's not a chance hes accepting that, maybe over 2 years he said.

There’s nothing ‘Urban myth’ about the last 287 pages. Read them in context bearing in mind we are in the best place since Venkys arrived. It’s fair to say that the general rhetoric is negative.

I won’t post past the transfer windows but I will read. This is because if you try to be positive on here you’re labelled a ‘happy clapper’ and driven away, no matter how informed or sensible you are.

Work this out - Most of the negative posters in here don’t even take on the likes of Neophox because even though he has a track record of being right...the TRUTH doesn’t fit their negative rhetoric either! Crazy.

To be pedantic, when venkys arrived we were a mid-table premiership outfit. Therefore no, we are not in the best place since venkys arrived. Arguably we also had a season under Gary Bowyer when then playing side of things became very stable and we very nearly go into the play offs with a very good squad. So no, things are worse now than they were in those two instances. If it wasn't for Mowbray the club is still basically the same shambles it has been for 8 years pal. Maybe that's your point, in that we have Mowbray so things are better than they have been for while, I can sort of take that onboard, but really, things are the same, minimal money being spent, ticket prices rising, no real initiative to get fans back into the ground, no communication from owners, same old stuff being repeated in telegraph every day from either the manager or the CEO (because we aren't getting anywhere because the clubs still a shambles) and a squad at the moment that will probably struggle.

There is always going to be a good feeling when you win something or achieve promotion, but once that's done, people go back to knowing the club is still a mess. Look at Coventry, nobody turns up at the Ricoh, but when they got to wembley they took what, 35,000 and they enjoyed it. But there fans know they are still a shambles and their season ticket sales prove that.

2 games moved for TV. Bolton away and Villa home both 5:30pm kick offs.

Rovers were very clear that when allocating the entire Darwen End to away fans that the police insist on a noon kick off so that must mean Villa will be limited in their allocation.

Interesting that the police are happy for Rovers to go to Bolton for a 5:30pm kick off yet we have to play PNE at 12 noon.

    Different police forces probably why.
