  1. Dack has the ability to play in the PL, I have no doubt about that but I have question marks over his application, desire and attitude. Also, comparisons between Grealish and Dack don't really wash. Different types of player. Grealish is a playmaker, better technique and can open teams up. Dack is more a second striker who has good ability on the ball, strong finishing skills and is an expert at making those perfectly timed runs.
  2. Didnt he get a hat-trick in some youth international tournament for Holland and ended up as the leading scorer in the tournament? Talk about judging a player on a few good games.
  3. Been blighted by injuries for most of his career since leaving Ajax too. Last season in the MLS was his most active for quite a few years. Injury and stiff competition at PSG meant he was mostly used as a sub for four years and then injuries pretty much ruined his time at Cagliari and Fenerbache.
  4. There are some positives to take if TM is looking at players like this. At least it identifies that he is looking for a few more leaders in the team. This is something that we lack. I personally wouldn't be aiming for my leaders to be 35+ exactly but we do need some.
  5. He was playing in the same team as Usain Bolt last season - says it all for me.
  6. 147mph according to this https://www.foxnews.com/auto/jose-antono-reyes-blowout-crash
  7. So I would summise that they do not want him - don't think i saw a single poster who thought he would be a good signing and that's for League 1. Even a few Boro fans were ont heir saying he has not been anywhere near as good since he came back, poor return in goals and assists.
  8. I would be expecting top 10 as a bare minimum as progress but we really should be doing all we can to make that push into the top 6. if its true we have a similar transfer budget as last season, this is not an unrealistic aim considering many teams would love to have been able to spend 20 million in the last couple of seasons. I dont think Dack will be sold this season despite the efforts of his agent simply because (and this is a rare plus for the Venkies), they always hold out for top money for our biggest stars. Valuation of Dack seems to be around the 18 million mark and I just cannot see many teams willing to splash that amount on him right now. Next season possibly once he proves for the second year running that he is a player at this level.
  9. Really gutted we missed out on McGinn, Villas best player which says a lot considering they are packed full of former PL stars. They got him at a snip too, half what we paid for BB.
  10. Burnely's slow build model is nothing ore than making their ownership of Pl money while doing the minimum possible not to get relegated. Its worked so far but next season they are down - any takers on a wager?
  11. The difference is Mcginn and Mceough, sums it up for me. Both looked good in the same team but one is more than up for it and is probably premiership level and the other is meh, couldnt cut it in L1. Thats what you get with the Scottish leagues and I really hope our scouting goes much further than that.
  12. Anyone suggesting anyone would rather see a player fail (so they can be right) is being a little silly. No true fan would wish ill on the club just so that they could say 'i told you so'. If BB fired us to promotion next season, i think most that had a bad initial view of Bb as a player and the transfer as a whole would be quick to hold their hands up and be ecstatic at the same time.
  13. Ticks all the right boxes in our scouting department too: Seriously though, this will cost quite a bit wouldn't it? Transfermarkt does say he is out of contract at the end of June however, which would then not make me feel confident as he would have a whole heap of admirers.
  14. Poorly worded. I meant, if we start him and then go on to lose the games. Not suggested he would be solely at fault just that you need your best guys playing at the start of a season to hopefully minimise those defeats from happening in the first place.
  15. Points are important early doors - I would not be risking them by starting BB ahead of DG at this point. Start BB, lose the first three games and we're bottom already. Need DG in there until BB can show that he has what it takes up front - but even then, TM seems to see him as one of the three behind.
  16. BB could come good, my god I hope he does. My issue isnt with the lad himself so much but think the funds should have been used elsewhere on players ready to be involved in the starting eleven straight away. For that sum of money in this division you would surely expect that as a minimum? He started to look a little better near the end of the season so hopefully he will be given more opportunities - but he needs to get a move on with his development/potential as DG is getting on now. This coming season he really needs to show that he is capable of filling his boots. If not we buy another striker and he could find himself further down the pecking order.
  17. So where have you come from? Only just started supporting Rovers or only just found the forums? As Chaddy was a mainstay of this board for many years until just recently banned.
  18. I am just highlighting the large dose of hypocrisy here. When we signed him, i think most were actually quite excited to see we have spent big on a young striker and were wondering what we were about to get. It wasnt until he barely got any action, didnt look all that when he did that the criticism (of the transfer, not the player) started.
  19. Well, in your own words, I think ill trust the opinion of a manager that surely knows more than some random forum poster about whether BB is good enough to replace DG at this current time.
  20. So this is all a bit hypocritical. You're telling us to believe the opinion of the management, team, england setup and our scouting team in initially buying him but you them seemingly do not trust TMs opinion that he is not ready to start yet - even going as far to say as he is being treated unfairly. So which is it? Are we to put our faith into all of them or just simply have our own opinions?
  21. So are we, the management team that didn't give BB many minutes are obviously of the same belief that DG is currently the better option by some distance. Even when played he is shunted wide, a few times with Dack being put up front instead of him.
  22. Did we? TM said he signed him because he had a good game against us the last time we were in the Championship. I dont think any scouting actually occurred, he was offered to us via an agent Forest hired to get the player sold. This was a project signing for a large sum of money in the hope that one good season will see his value double.
