  1. I completely agree but they are clubs making money from the loan system while buying the finished article for their first team. We on the other hand invest in the academy to produce players for our team. I feel we are not in a position to see players like Buckley, butterworth and Costello trundle around league one to satisfy a development formula. In the end posters on here have suggested they have the apptitude to be championship players. Only exposure to championship football will show if they have the attitude ( Travis as an example). Some will pass the test and some will fail but for me this is about Blackburn rovers football club not about nurturing. These are young men and football is there chosen profession. They need to be on the pitch for us and I can bet you that if they where asked they would agree. To succeed in any field requires risk. Wolves money, sheff Utd style of play. We have neither of them but we have youth and that is our risk. I feel this season we are at a crossroads. We can purse a policy of safety first or we can give youth a chance. I’m not sure which way we will go. One certainly condemns is to mid table mediocrity the other gives us a chance of greater things Over to you Tony
  2. Before I go back in to work. For tony get em in the team and get em played. If there good enough they’ll step up if not then loan them out. If Palmer Todd Kane and numerous other big club kids are good enough then so are ours. We are a top drawer academy with a second rate first team. Pretend we’re loaning them if that helps
  3. If the best young players from the under 23 are being loaned out what’s the point of moving Johnson up. Also I don’t understand how our under 23 players finish fifth in the same league as premier under 23 players. Yet premier under 23 players are good enough to play in our division but our better under 23 players aren’t and have to move to league one.
  4. Not relevant to our transfer but looks like Middlesbrough are signing our old boy Todd Kane and are happy about it
  5. I don’t have the experience or in depth knowledge of someone who like yourself attends youth football regularly and clearly understands it. This is more a question than an opinion. The promotion of Johnson to the first team set up appears to suggest a recognition on the part of Mowbray on what he may have inherited. I wonder if Johnson is the bridge to bring a large group of these lads into the first team set up and more importantly use them. Johnson is not only their manager but to an extent their mentor and his presence and availability gives stability and from that confidence. If that is the case it’s a smart bit of man management from Mowbray and will allow him to get the best from young lads via Johnson someone who knows them not only as footballers but has people.
  6. I was lip reading him as well and he said: I fear change
  7. I would love Fraser foster and I mean that in a none homoerotic way
  8. Does it matter it’s better to have something transfer related to discuss than nothing or going round in circles discussing the pros and cons of Mowbray. All information by virtue of the requirements of interpretation has a speculative element. Also information is not static and changes due to the large range of variables that impact upon it. The end result is that when he/ she says this may happen it is only reasonable and sensible for him/ her to add the caveat unless other factors change. The demand that only concrete facts are submitted with supporting evidence and names would lead to a situation where it would be impossible to inform anyone of a potential signing until it was completed and by that point we would know anyway. i think for the enjoyment we all get from speculation unsupported information should be allowed. And on that note Ive heard we have a bid in for messi on a flexi
  9. Yeah I always think that when teams get relegated but it rarely seems to work out the way it should do on paper. Our division is littered with prime examples of failed transfer strategy. Fulham where useless in the premiership and while I accept that the championship is a completely different animal there appears something about relegation from the premiership that drains confidence or conversely breeds over confidence. Whatever the reason relegated teams struggle to achieve immediate bounce back. Sorry for the of topic ramble
  10. Maybe mowbray just wants big name players. Big long names ability may be secondary to how big a name they’ve got. Hart Carson Cahill Hanley to short. Maybe we’re coming at our new transfer strategy from the wrong direction size may be important. Guy above big long name and 8 foot 3 by all accounts
  11. From my experience I wouldn’t bet on them either
  12. However I’d still sign him if the chance is there
  13. It really does disappointing and slightly immature but I suppose he’s only 24 and has a lot to learn.
  14. He said that in public. He really does have a lot to learn then
  15. Tough she'll have to get over it. My missus doesn’t like anywhere if I was a footballer and listened to her I’d only be able to play if the game was in my back garden
  16. That would be a top signing. Mowbray always seems to run down the players he wants to sign. Chapman and Armstrong got both barrels from him then he signed them. I wonder if Reed is another of the cant play but we’ll sign them brigade
  17. He changes the speed of play. Head up straight away. Moves the ball foward. I have no idea of general market value but he is our best midfielder by far:
