I would agree if rothwell was an isolated incident but he’s not. Raya is a prime example. Armstrong until dacks injury was useless. I would even place holtby in this category regardless of experience . I’m not for a second suggesting that rothwell is the second coming but there is a pattern particularly with younger players. I agree initially he was everything you describe. Mowbray refused to play him regularly because those exact same attributes you describe he said where a liability. Mowbray has beaten the ability out of him play my way or not at all. So he has becomr one dimensional and only passes sideways or back. Never mind though at least it fits the system and now he gets games.

What about us being radical and playing are multimillion pound strike force has strikers.They may not be the greatest strikers in the league ( although we’ll never know because Mowbray doesn’t play them there) the fact is under the current system they get one or maybe two chances per game. It’s funny that the players who look good under this system are those allowed to play their natural game. Dack, armstrong graham lenihan tocsin and the shite ones are those who are forced to be part of mowbrays dream system. He needs to put down what ever autobiography of great managers he’s reading and work within his and the teams limitations. Finally if he reads this stop giving away money to players we don’t use. We can’t afford it. You control the dressing room by respect not by looking after the lads.

Rothwell is a shadow of the player he was. Travis is good defensively but used to make surging runs. Gallagher and Brereton are either strikers or we should have bought wingers. Bennett while I respect the man should definitely not be at left back or in the team. It took the injury to dack to allow Mowbray to free Armstrong. Johnson is past it and davenport should be either playing in his position or at left back. Finally no intention of returning season ticket money yet Mowbray hands out extended contracts to players who haven’t played for us for twelve months. To justify this he included one in the squad( Smallwood) and plays the other( mulgrew). Easy money. Technically inept, can’t spend money, can’t organise a team and to keep the players onside hands out my non refundable season ticket money. All disfunctional but with no real oversight not surprising.
