Who was it who said our transfer policy was in chaos. That man deserves a medal for being spot on

It’s not about individuals it’s about philosophy. We are looking at players like downing and Adams while Brentford yes Brentford sign our goalkeeper and it appears one of the best centre half’s in the league.
Fortunately we don’t need defenders we need ageing midfielders.
According to our leader Venkies are desperate to spend. I can only assume that the Leeds guy doesn’t meet our managers requirements and we have irons in the fire.
To be honest I’m sick off old pros rolling up getting a pay day and wandering off. If venkies have money get it spent.
McGinn, can’t pay the wages others can’t pay the fee clubs are greedy. Our youngsters can’t be rushed and you have to be loyal to your senior pros. Nobodies driven out here( gladwin, smallwood Evans).
I hope this comes back to bite me because I’m not sure where this recruitment, retainment and promotion methodology is going. It is to use one word bizarre.

So ya seemingly Brentford are the club in for Jansonn. That is surprising to me. Good for Raya anyway.
5.5 million the fee. I can only ask, why the f*** aren't we in for him?
Sorry great mind and all that

Rather tall athletic bloke seen hovering around Stanley house last night/this morning. Sat and had his breakfast with 2 older men in suits. Last seen half a hour ago heading off in the passenger seat of a dark car.
Source - my sister. She said he had dark hair and looked about 30.
Did he have a big head?

Boroblue? Sounds like what, Tony would call himself, so come on, Tony are you telling us we are going to spend £7mil on a sub again?
Yes or no. I can guarantee it’s one of those two

You know as soon as that happens we will make a signing... can’t decide whether you should do it or not.
Then if it does and it’s a big signing for the superstitious there will be demands for regular shut down. While the non superstitious argue with them about it being coincidental

He only played 14 games last season, was that due to injury?
I went on wiki and it said 36?

I’ll try a complete guess. No evidence. Adam Clayton based on pick an idea and find facts to justify it.
1)defensive midfielder age 30 has experience.
2) has beard
3)is northern and from Manchester.
4) plays for Middlesbrough
5) boro are trying to reduce the age of their squad.

Can only be one winner at a game of this size and that’s football and you can quote me on that

Opening day mouthwatering prospect. Battle of the inflated ego.
brentford( we think we’re brazil but actually one nothing) v Birmingham( the big club). El Classico. The players on show there’s him and him and is mate. Household names. Sell out guaranteed. I’d send the Top commentary team Murphy, neville( either or both) with Owen just to do it justice.

The problem is I've said for 4 previous transfer windows we need a new centre half. I've waited every windows and it hasn't been adressed. For 3 of those windows it is well known we have been sniffing around Bauer.
I didn't know a lot about him other than Charlton fans rated him, and missed him when he was injured. As he was obviously Mowbrays number 1 target, I hoped he would be coming in at some point so am disappointed that we've now lost him to Preston.
Theres a lot of people on here decided that he is suddenly shit, who I expect would be saying good move by Mowbray if he had signed. If the strategy is going to be sign cheaper from below, rather than pay more money for proven players from above, it may be one that has slipped through the net.
This is just the juxtaposition and I agree with your sentiments completely. But I can’t for a second believe we have been out manoeuvred by PNE.
There is nothing that you would has a footballer think PNE over rovers. I may be biased and missing something but at this point I can’t think what that i.

Because we don't have a under 23 team or academy that costs over 3 million & we don't waste over 6 million on over rated player s. We matched the Armstrong bid & wages but he chosen Rovers because he was on loan with you. Some of you lot need to smell the coffee. PNE are a well run club with realistic expectations & don't expect to buy players we can't afford we are not Aston v or Leeds & we no that but the trouble is most Rovers fans have been brought up with silver spoons in there mouth.
And that is why you don’t ever win anything ever really. Nothing and your proud of that

Now you see what you’ve done. They’ve signed a freebie and their here to tell us how great Preston are

Correct but their manager knows what he has to work with, can make an offer and get stuff done because he has a proper Chairman with power behind him and an owner that can be contacted when needed.
I agree JH but they are a small time outfit. We are owned by a billion pound organisation that don’t see us at the top of their agenda. Unfortunately that creates administrative problems on one side but a seemingly dismissive approach to money loss. By the end of the window has in every previous season we will out spend PNE. I’m not saying it’s right just fact
-
I’ll say this on the mighty PNE. We are in disarray and they finished one point above us. There is nothing at Deepdale that is better than us. Ground, facilities, training complex, salary structure and history.
The only thing they had that we didn’t was the gentleman that was sir Tom Finney but we had Douglas. So for whatever reason Bauer went there it’s isnt because they are or ever will be at our level. That is fact

It raised his profile and I am sure it gave him more options and a few extra pounds in his contract.
Nah big dog he’s gone to pne for Christ sake. I see the logic in your argument but pne.

Bauer is a league one defender who has chosen to sign for the best they’ll ever be club on a free. He’s not great and they haven’t paid millions to secure him. Just a freebie. His career record doesn’t say star but journey man and by 26 your record should say more. Hanley twice the player. Let’s see who appears. Although to undermine my argument completely there does appear to be a similar approach.
A defensive brereton long term project type. God forbid

I’d be more concerned and annoyed if we got the German and Hanley went to Preston.

Loved don mackay and his teams . Always ended up has the brides made and not the bride.
I always thought the beginning of the end for mackay was when old smug arse linekar refused to come to rovers and laughed at us and walker for trying. Toss pot then and now

45k at Newcastle not Norwich. The article clearly says he had to take a big pay cut to join Norwich. However, that wasn't what @JHRover point, he said he wouldn't have got a big pay rise going from Rovers to Newcastle, and then made some bogus comparison with Armstrong.
Always best to read the articles.
I will take that advice and thank you for your guidance

To qualify that I have nothing against defensive lumps. (In case someone accuses me of being lumpist). In fact I believe that is just what we need.
Hanley the perfect lump
-
there is no way that Hanley is on £45000 at Norwich. Their wage structure is similar if not worse than ours. Remember their odds at the start of the season suggested more relegation than promotion. You could probably half that and that would break their wage structure.
He probably got a big pay off from Newcastle granted but Norwich wouldn’t be splashing out the same. £45000 for a defensive lump let’s be sensible.
