Financial Unfair Play (Fup)
Vinjay replied to VinjayV4's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Benitez claims he's "ignoring" takeover speculation though I can't see why players can't train/play and talk about it at the same time. When they go home and watch Tv can't they talk about anything other than what they do on the pitch? He does however note that FUP may be an issue thanks to UEFA, clubs like Man United and a hypocritical old sod who apparently broke his leg once. Actually he only mentions UEFA I'm referencing the latter 2. http://www.itv.com/news/update/2017-11-24/newcastle-boss-benitez-ignoring-takeover-speculation/ -
I notice Blackburn Arena is hosting a Pro Wrestling event in 2018 which will also be live on Freesports. Not WWE but certainly featuring people who have been associated with them plus notable UK names. Its not the first time a wrestling event has been held there. WWE (then WWF of course) did a show there in 1994 and apparently featured a match between Razor Ramon and Shawn Michaels. Speaking of Michaels he's been said to be a Rovers fan and infact there is a video on Youtube of an interview at West Ham v Rovers in 1995. I'm not sure he actually is a huge fan as I've never seen him mention the club otherwise. He had family in England (lived in Reading as a kid for a while) so it looks like he had relatives here at some point. I'm guessing he may have been on a promotional UK tour at the time. Wonder why more events don't seem to be held at the Arena besides the obvious? KGH has held wrestling events (though mostly those with people dressed up as WWE wrestlers and are about as simplistic as you can present wrestling) not to mention the other events hosted there. There's only been one concert (Status Quo over 20 years ago) apparently in the entire time its been open. I remember vaguely going there when I was very young. Knowing what I know now it was probably immediately after it opened. Also went a few times in the late 90's. Never did learn to skate either.

Michael Gray saying Short should spend 15-20 million in January . Yeah that's gonna happen. I don't think he ever told the Walker family influenced trust to spend during his time here but I guess even he wasn't that unrealistic.
-
An exceptionally long shot but what if he's bluffing and just trying to get the attention of Venkys? As if that would work . In all due respect to Blackpool I can't ever see them becoming "everything we have dreamed of".
-
Without wishing to be pedantic (understandable oversight) that was Ian Jones though I'm sure you're fully aware of that.
-
Maybe I was harsh to call the result a disgrace at the weekend. I wasn't happy with some remarks Stuart Jones made a while back and it was more about him than the players.
-
Cheston was apparently there last night as someone on twitter said he completely ignored fans at a service station. I doubt he was just passing through there by coincidence at the same time. That does not essentially mean he was there at the weekend though seems strange if he would travel to Oxford but not somewhere much closer.
-
He should probably try and be a bit more civil with the Oystons rather than outright criticising them. While he obviously is attracted by Blackpool and is a fan of football in general it wouldn't "stick in the craw" so much to avoid criticising the Oystons as it would with Venkys. I don't want anyone who may negotiate with Venkys to treat them with anything less than the minimum decorum (certainly if its lifelong fans) but obviously its not an ideal world.

There's a more recent thread on this but I prefer my headline so bringing this back up. Looks like Milan the latest to possibly get a screwing. http://www.marca.com/en/football/international-football/2017/11/21/5a140194268e3e74058b4647.html -
Don't think Coleman was being malicious at worst he's probably just a poor judge of character. Maybe that's why people like Agnew were kept around for so long. BFS is the one I believe who stated he apologised.

Maybe Mourinho will give him a job

Venkys 7 years on...

Just saw someone refer to Mugabe's regime as a "dynasty of incompetence". Difference is he probably knew what he was doing. -
It was a disgrace. Why? Because I say so. If that's an arrogant, unshakeable belief then so be it.
-
Disgraceful scoreline.
-
Guarantee she hasn't though she certainly knows my opinion of them. Bit of a stupid time to have a home Academy game with first team playing on same day. Unless they just do it when first team playing at Ewood or somewhere fairly local.
-
Almost HT with scum leading 1-0. Can't comment on what's happened as streams are too aggravating especially with my Mum being here droning on about sofas.

Forgot to mention in advance but Rovers playing Man United at Brockhall this morning. Its on some channel I won't mention but sure you can find alternative ways.

Well at least he kept a clean sheet. -

Might be less chance of him being mysteriously "injured" now just as the World Cup is coming up... -
Maybe you're right but what they are supposed to do kiss their ass in meantime?

Its obviously Belokon who's primarily responsible for this. Imagine that the evil foreigner overcoming those great British owners? Not saying the fans shouldn't have protested. Protests if nothing else are a way of releasing pent up anger. In this instance the Oystons were so brazen about causing offence they seemed to actually enjoy the protests. I can only imagine this decision to put the club up for sale is because its an asset that's considered as easier to offload than others. Presumably much of their fortune is tied up in assets as 31 million is obviously a hit for them. I thought they had a fortune that was considerably greater than that but there's a difference between being "cash rich" and "asset rich". Protests sometimes work but it depends who you're dealing with. Venkys are stubborn though they haven't been as brazen as the Oystons when it comes to insulting fans. If Venkys choose to sell it will almost certainly be their own decision unless we uncover something so underhand it forces a sale. That's the harsh reality as much as we want to see them pay for what they have done.

He failed at Wigan so we know that probably would have happened here as well. Yeah I do believe Coyle coming cheaper was a big part of it. Nixon outright said he offered to do it for less than others and it was a big factor.
-
Even if some connection helped Coyle get the job (and I don't believe that was Anderson) that was the only help he got. He didn't exactly have a ton of support and you can argue that Magoo has had more. It didn't stop Coyle from being fired either. I've heard about Sheron certainly but as with most other things there's conflicting stories. One I've heard being that he left SEM because of Anderson some years beforehand and Coyle only ever met Anderson once at Bolton or someplace for 2 minutes years ago. I still don't know why Coyle said he didn't know SEM and find it hard to believe he didn't know which agency Sheron previously worked with. I think it was a small lie at most but there wasn't really much to read into it to begin with.
-
Yeah well my view is he was better than Redfearn or Slade. I felt the same way about Magoo that there could have been worse but his record was poor aside from one promotion. Just like Coyle. I don't know why Coyle denied knowing SEM or whatever. Maybe he just lied about whatever tenuous link he previously had not anything major that still existed. There was a lawsuit. It wasn't played out in a very public fashion but it happened. Anderson was one of the people they felt provided bad advice. Rishi Sikka who made that Venkys doc and has spoken to Pasha before even said why would they like JA? Awful lot of effort also for a smokescreen and I just don't buy that theory. Bad advice as I said. Because Venkys are plain incompetent.
