Whiteman update, met Tony last Wednesday....they want him but not before they've bought a goalie and a left back.  Midfield is the 3rd priority. If there is 2m left over we will put a bid in.  We have a pot of money.  Derby are very interested too.  The player wants the championship,  not necessarily Rovers. 2m gets the player.

So basically we won't get him as someone else will step in who doesnt mess around and gets deals done.

You were the one dragging Henry's private matters into it because of your notion that he was overrated which is ridiculous. You were also the one who decided to compare him to Berg when they were different types of players you'd never get Berg playing as a striker for a start.

Big Col also got the treble in his top level swansong at Rangers which isn't bad. Just comes across as sour grapes from you towards him for some reason and a bit more than just a player opinion.

So yeah leave it there now the records straight... EH !!!

OK sweet cheeks? oh and by the way the records far from straight. I'm choosing to leave as its all opinion and its in the wrong thread anyway.

His alleged misdemeanours have jack shit to do with his ratings as a player, sounds like you've an axe to grind. Does he owe you money ?

I never said they did. I never rated him before his misdemeanours. Berg was simply a better player. He has far more medals in his collection than Hendry. And by the way what has berg suing the club got to do with his achievements as a player. We clearly aren't going to agree, we are all entitled to our own opinions. And as someone has pointed out already this isn't the nostalgia thread so let's leave it there eh!!

He sued the club which means his 2.5 million pay off is part of our overall debt. Guy I liked as a player but in the same catergory as Samba for me

The state of our club at the time and the way he was treated you can hardly blame him. I'd be more concerned about the love in for Hendry with his alleged misdemeanours.

That's your opinion. But I think it's way off the mark. Lol berg was good. Took him a while to settle if I remember correctly, but he always had a mistake in him. Personally I'd have Nelson and samba before berg

Hendry had far more mistakes in him, in my opinion. Nelsen was excellent I'll give you that and Samba very good. Berg is the only player to have won both the Premier league and league Cup with us. I know people say his managerial spell has tarnished his reputation. My response would be he wasn't given a transfer window to mould his own team. He was only able to bring in a loan player, Josh King, by all accounts many on here rated him highly. If he had been given the opportunity to bring in players of a similar calibre who knows what he could have done. Alas, he was caught in a war between directors/advisors who appeared to dislike each others choice of manager and pulled the trigger at a moments notice.

I go back further than you guys, so got me thinking who my legendary team would include?

    came up with this:

    Goal - Friedel, Jones,

Defence - Newton, Hendry, England, Nelson, Le Saux, Clayton

mid - Tugay, Douglas, Ripley, Duff, Wilcox, Sherwood, Vernon

forward - Shearer, Sutton, Pickering, McEvoy

Nb.  I know Ripley and Wilcox will not be many people’s choice but I thought they where superb as they supplied the outlet.

probably some obvious ones I have missed.

I'll be hated for this but I think hendry was massively overrated. Sure he stuck his head in where it hurts but only to rectify his own mistakes a lot of the time. Now Berg, he was a legend!!!

If we could only sign 3 players what positions would other fans like?

Personally I think GK and central defender is a must. Last one would be an out and out winger or LB like greg Cunningham who would come straight into first team.

Dont think we will see many signings due to financial restrictions. Whoever we sign must be good enough to go straight into first team, none of this needs to get used to our teams style of play etc as mowbray has previously indicated.

If we can only sign 3 we are in trouble. Need keeper x 2, cb x2 and lb as a minimum.

That's your opinion. You need to understand the way your bosses work and adapt to their way.

You think Mourinho walk in to Levy demanding his budget, Cos I bet you he doesn't mess with Levy.

I bet you he wouldn't give a f*** to be honest. The man has no fear of the sack. And he doesn't care who he upsets in order to deflect attention from his own failings.

    Laugh? No.

    Care? No.

Ever since the football community turned its back on us when we were pleading for help against our horrendous owners and their stooge manager, my attitude towards other football clubs has been 'get to fuck'.

No you are right I don't care either. But I'd rather not laugh(publicly) for fear it will bite us on the arse at a later stage

  10. I think first of all we need a new manager. I like Mowbray and the steady job he's done. But he's not done anything more than Bowyer, who was binned off by this stage in his tenure. Even Mowbray has talked about 3year cycles in management, which means he should be done according to his own theory. If we have any aspirations for the Premier league, it's time for a parting of the ways.

Wow, Rovers behaving like every other business in the world! Bravo Chaddy for your insight!

Well said Mattyblue. That said, reading it, it makes me wonder whether Jon Mclaughlin was a serious target or just one of a number of options. I'd like to think our new keeper would come with a significant amount of championship experience as a minimum. Which mclaughlin did not have.
