There's no guarantee that the keeper would sign either. That's a terrible, terrible non argument. In fact already being here makes it more likely for him to stay. As usual you have been caught out with the double standards. Being at the club and maybe not signing an extension is just as uncertain as the keeper not signing. In fact it's less so as there's the bonus of familiarity and benefit of not moving. You might as well say it's a good move because we play in blue and white, or because I had pizza for dinner. It has just as much credibility.

Spot on and well summed up.

I mean I wouldn't keep Bell in this division much less the other one. Although given TMs spotted transfer record and not being able to spend money on defenders (and not having any next season) I can see why they did. Still think we should be aiming for better though.

At the risk of supporting Chaddy and his moronic mutterings, I understood the club had to extend Bells contract as the player himself triggered the clause in his contract. I stand to be corrected and I hope I am, as I hate the fact that I'm defending someone who changes his point of view more than Piers Morgan.

If it was a choice between picking up Maddison on a free and giving him a go on the right wing, or go into another season of Gallagher playing there, which would you choose?

I could have sworn in past windows, Chaddy was raving about Maddison when we were linked. I stand to be corrected and I can't be arsed trailing through to find evidence. Anyway, yes I'd take him in a heartbeat to get Gallagher off the wing.

How do you determine which teams are promoted and relegated?

I believe the points per game system is what uefa are recommending or sporting merit as they call it. Your average points per game so far is awarded for your remaining games, and thus all promotion and relegation decided by this. At least I think that's how it works. I'm not saying it's right, I personally think the season should be null and void. And reset when we can safely get back up an running(this also means resetting Bolton on minus 12 points)

If it means next season is more likely to happen then I’m leaning towards agreeing with scrapping this season, the bonus of Liverpool not winning the title also helps.

I think especially because it’s Liverpool though all stops will be pulled out to ensure they have officially won it

Spot on. Best case scenario for anti scouse fans of which I am one, is they are awarded it on points per game. At least we can claim they were handed it despite the season never being completed.

Due to a lack of respect on here- as above post- , I’m not for giving names anymore however my record speaks for itself, beat the media to a whole list of names, who would then publish it as breaking the next day.
you will need to get your names off davie whoever that was previously

some folk spoil it for everyone

Figured it was an imposter given the sudden inability to spell anything correctly

He was clearly joking. Maybe K-Hod and I have similar senses of humour - I thought it was funny and feel you need to lighten up a touch regarding this post and keep the toys in the pram - so to speak.

From my point of view, Mods don't need to be soulless, opinionless entities (not your view, I know) who donate all of their life without showing a bit of personality, but certainly - leave moderation to them because they do a superb job on here and are extremely fair.  The thread over the years isn't solely about people like Chaddy (no offence) hankering for vague info from genuine or non-genuine sources, Twitter rumours, or just back-slapping and blowing smoke up behinds.  And to be honest, I've not read anything on here lately that wasn't already on Newsnow or something.  Anyway, when there's something with real meat on the bones, I am sure it'll generate interest and that'll be all we'll focus on for a while - but do get used to debates on the edge of acceptability when things are stagnant.

Clearly joking?? Really!!  He may have been joking but I'd hardly say it was clear and it was certainly not funny. Anyway I did enjoy the backtracking when one of the more credible sources of info regarding transfers pulled the shutters down.

So why not just promote them when they moved Johnson?

Can't answer that. The powers that be aren't known for acting quickly let's be honest. They drag everything out. Do we know who the other candidates were? Maybe they wanted to see who else would apply but then decided the best options already worked here

Fair play to him for applying but who was the competition he was up against? On the face of it this is more evidence of Mowbray sticking with what/who he knows and rewarding loyalty.

Lowest cost, narrowest search, and least imagination.

I can't lie I was hoping Matty Jansen might be on his way back. However can't really argue with these appointments. They've done well enough already so let them continue, they've earnt their promotions.

    Some clarity on Mulgrew:

Mulgrew and Mowbray had a blazing argument in the middle of the training ground in front of loads on people, this happened Thursday morning. Everything was a rush from there.

A few offers came in and Mulgrew wanted to go to Rangers, but they were only offering 50% of his wages whereas Wigan (surprisingly) offering 80% of his £20,000 per week.

Mulgrew did not want to go to Wigan, he wanted to stay and fight for his place and continue to be a role model, captain etc. Mowbray did not cover himself in glory.

Heard first hand from a source present at the training ground.

    Shambles.

But he still wanted to go though. As much as I feel TM has lost the plot somewhat I'll back him on this. Charlie had become a liability, we don't need a liability who doesn't want to be here. Potential to be Shane Duffy all over again.
