January Transfer Window.

Wouldn't be the first time players have been converted to a different position. Didn't Sam play Phil Jones in a defensive midfield role. Going back even further Fred Pickering started life as a defender before becoming one of the countries best strikers. It can happen , nothing wrong with being versatile. -

Of all the rumours so far, I can see this as being a possible. Chile international left back, can also play left midfield and centre mid.(according to transfer market) More important, his contract was up at the beginning of this month so free agent. Only 25 and played for Colo Colo in Chile 1st division. Wonder it f bbd had a word with somebody Edit Forget that, think he's gone to Besiktas ! -

Possibly, but he can't have pulled up any trees at Stoke or else he would still be there. I can just imagine the reaction on here if we signed him and turned out like Hirst. We can't afford that risk with him -

Haven't we just been through something similar with Hirst and now you want to repeat it ? -

Be surprised if the true figure is anything like that. Wouldn't be the first time fees have been over exaggerated -

Certainly Garrett seems to have taken over that enforcer role from him. Just hope it's a blip , similar to Buckley who has looked good since coming back, albeit a couple of mistakes -

If Steve Clarke believes Hanley is better than Hyam then I give up. Don't know what he needs to do to get a call up -

Would have been nice but cb is the one area we are strongest ATM. We all know there are other positions that need strengthening before that -

He made a big impression at Derby last season which led to his move to Palace. Whenever I watched him on the box last season he impressed me -

See 36 year old Matt Derbyshire has signed for Sparky at Bradford. Been a bit of a nomad has Matty, played all over -

Everybody would like JPVH back but he does seem to be in and around the squad at Brighton ATM. Would love us to try again in the summer, especially as Ayala is out of contract ( I think). Khadra done nothing at Sheffield United since being there. Flattered to deceive for me -

Checked with Rich Sharpe this morning, both Hirst and Mola signed for the season and can't be returned. As far as playing time is concerned, can't believe there is an obligation to give either game time -

Sorry, can't agree. The major signings ( ie the permanents) have been an improvement on the ones that left overall. Nobody gets every signing spot on, luckily those that have been poor we can send back. -

Let's take a look at the recruitment in the summer. So the main criteria was to replace the 3 contract rebels I assume everyone agrees. Is Hyam better than Lenihan ? Imo YES. Is Brittain better than Nyambe ? Imo YES. Is Szmodics better than Rothwell ? This one is tougher. Rothwell is no doubt the better technical player and has that ability to travel with the ball well. Szmodics isn't a good a player but seems to be more of a goal threat in a disrupted season for him .( 3 goals in 14 compared to 3 in 41 last season for Rothwell). So, out 6 incomers we have 2 we ho have been great, 2 average in Morton and Sami and 2 poor in Hirst an Mola. Luckily the poor signings can be sent back so no real harm done there. All in all I would say for a first window it's been pretty good. 7 out of 10 I would say
