  1. Not every game can be that of a wonderful performance. I don't care how we gain points, as long as they are gained within the laws of the game.
  2. We need improvements yes. But your assessment of last season? ??
  3. Video showing his attributes whilst at Manchester United 2 years ago
  4. Armstrong is a striker. Rothwell is a box-to-box central midfielder.
  5. Cracking signing who was being watched by several Championship clubs.
  6. Didn't say he was. Certainly wasn't my intention anyway. Had we not signed Smallwood, I reckon Whittingham would have been found out and someone else (Travis?) would have had a far prominent role last season.
  7. Yet he isn't going and has already rejected Ipswich. At least with added contract length we can a) decide whether we want to let him go b) Actually get compensation for him if he does go and c) Actually have a decent quality manager, rather than desperately looking to replace after stability.
  8. Having stable management is essential in the Championship. Not to mention a dressing-room having the respect of the manager. I would also argue Mowbray's attitude has been key in starting to win back fan confidence. Taking the contract situation with him so casually could come back to bite us in the behind if we have a solid season this season coming. We could find him going off to another club with his management team, taking players with him. This would leave us back in square one having to do a Blackpool when you consider the contract lengths many of our better players have at the moment. We should offer him a new two year contract with a year option on top of it, ASAP! How much did Gladwin, Caddis and Whittingham cost? Most Rovers fans were astonished when we picked up Whittingham and expected him to play a major role in our season last term. Alas Smallwood strode in and made himself a consistent hero. When Caddis was signed, did any of us expect him to come in as anymore than a backup? Gladwin came in as a risk, but with good pedigree, and at a good age. If Rovers have any sense, they will send him out on loan and bring in a summer center-midfielder on loan with a view.
  9. Some interesting info out of the Supporters Consultation Evening with Tony Mowbray and Steve Waggott. There are plans to offer Tony Mowbray a new contract Mowbray has held six meetings with six players who we have the potential to sign, players he considers exciting Mowbray expects to sign two to four players in the coming weeks There should be contract news also in the coming weeks Mowbray really rates Travis Harry Chapman is eager to return to Rovers huw Mowbray spoke to last week. Armstrong is also eager to return to Rovers, however it would seem from Mowbray's tone that that is less likely 5-6 signings are expected this window David Dunn is leaving his position as assistant manager for the under 23s Mowbray is positive and excited about the signings we might make this summer, as well as the continued positivity in the dressing room. Blackburn Rovers Supporters Consultation Meeting
  10. Rich Sharpe posting an image from our game against Ipswich 6 years ago. I have added our team which would likely be fielded if we didn't make any signings this summer. Interesting to compare between our team now and the team back then.
  11. Iranian midfielder Mehdi Torabi (23) looks class against Spain. Fast and quick feet. Excellent crossing. Plays for Saipa in Iran.
  12. So Brighton & Hove Albion have apparently offered Sunderland (and unsurprisingly had the offer accepted) £1.5 million for Jason Steele. His record last season in all competitions was 19 games played, 31 goals conceded. (26 goals conceded in 15 games in the Championship) This is a player I think we sold for £200,000? Not even sure we have a sell-on fee. Somebody should show Chris Houghton this clanger! Jason_Steele.mp4
  13. Charlton put £2 million price tag on Bauer, with 12 months of his contract remaining.
  14. Brighton looking for a 2nd/3rd choice keeper with Aussie Ryan being their main man inbetween the sticks.
  15. Some interesting and potentially viable players released by Premier League clubs this summer. Just wondering what people think of the following? Tim Krul, available on a free after being released by Brighton and Hove Albion. Better than Fielding surely? Lee Chung-yong, available on a free after being released by Crystal Palace. South Korea International and different to what we have. Joel Ward, also available on a free after being released by Crystal Palace. Defender and defensive midfielder. Good age and played 185 games over the last 6 seasons.
  16. My problem is, if he isn't playing and scoring in more than 3 consecutive games. He seemingly sulks. His goalscoring record isn't good enough for the Championship and if he can't cut it on the wing is he really worth keeping when we also have Nuttall?
  17. The Lancashire Telegraph have picked up the Patrick Bauer story. Maybe it does have some legs after all. Rovers eye move for Charlton defender Patrick Bauer
  18. Wouldn't be a terrible signing. He would be a brilliant backup to Charlie Mulgrew and would also give us the option to push Mulgrew forward to centre midfield if score requires it. Let's remember Mulgrew does come with an injury record, and without a tall player to come in for him, it could leave us struggling should he pick up an injury next season (touch wood it doesn't happen!) Bauer is just under 6ft 4 inches and has a pretty good goal-scoring record for a centre back. His signing would allow us to use Travis more freely in CM and would also allow us to get Wharton out on loan hopefully to a top half League One team to develop him as a player. Bauer is playing below his standard as a player. Granted this story could be nonsense.
  19. Question: Should Samuel be encouraged to change his playing position to play on the wing. He has the pace for it, is rather good at cutting in from the wing but the question is his crossing ability. Personally don't think he will be good enough upfront in the Championship. But would he be a capable option out on the wing?
  20. Agree with pretty much your whole post although Guthrie had a pretty good final season with us 2016-17. What let him down was his injury record. I think that Travis could evolve into a better player than Evans, but to be fair. I'm not entirely sold on Evans and wouldn't be devastated if we sold him if we brought in a replacement. As for Gallagher, I can see the logic in having a tall forward. But his goals to games ratio has never been better than a goal every 4 games. Hands up. I might be completely wrong. But that is just how I see it.
  21. Isn't he 19? Indeed. Steven Bergwijn would also be a brilliant signing.
  22. I think people are potentially jumping the gun a little with Mowbray's comments today. Who walks into a car show-room wanting to get a good deal and shouts "right chaps, I need a car, I shall be buying it from here and I have money to spend." We already know that Mowbray has been rebuffed in a couple of attempts to sign players with unrealistic price-tags. So what he is doing is making the football market know (agents) that he isn't willing to spend over his means, and if we have to wait a little to bring in the right players at a more doable price then so be it. I have absolutely no problem with his approach and as long as we bring in 4 long-term signings and a couple or maybe more loans, then that is pretty much what we were expecting anyway wasn't it? At a push (would be a struggle), we only need to add to our flanks and frontline, although of course we would hope for more. Let's not try to douse the confidence going into the new season, because we all know that kind of attitude spreads like wildfire and bleeds into the players. In Mowbray I trust and I really doubt he'd have hung around if the owners had taken the p*ss when he flew out to India.
  23. Worth remembering that our first major signing last summer was Bradley Dack on June 27th. Both the Football League Championship and League One season's start at the same time. Although Mowbray has said he wants to make the bulk of our signings before we fly off to Austria, I wouldn't be terribly concerned if we don't bring in anyone in the next week or two. Rather we got it right and signed the Dack's and Smallwood's as opposed to the Hart's and Caddis's...
  24. Could be a very good signing. Would be fairly low cost, good age, tall, good goals to games ratio for a CB and looks to be ready for the step up.
