  1. Ended 5-1 to Rovers. Burnley converted a penalty in the 83rd minute.
  2. Smallwood refused to sign a new contract with Rotherham. That's why he left. To suggest he was "discarded" by Rotherham is a complete misleading of history. Don't like how we talk up players and then discard them the next. Downing was being raved about last season, and now he doesn't even warrant a place on the bench in some peoples eyes. How many games did we win with him in the starting XI? Until recently Smallwood was being spoken of as the "King of Ewood". Now we have been linked to the player north of the border who is talented, people are talking about Smallwood like he should be released on a free! I'm absolutely baffled how anyone can talk down Smallwood, whilst we still have Peter Whittingham and Ben Gladwin! Seeing as people seem to be guessing who we will sign before the window closes. I'm going to guess Gallagher on loan, I think we will miss out on McGinn (who will go to Celtic at the eleventh hour!) and sign a box to box midfielder on loan at a later stage, we will probably get Bauer as well as a backup keeper with experience in his latter thirties.
  3. Not good news for Rovers. It would seem they are getting him on a free, which completely trashes the sell-on fee that the Football League put in his transfer terms under Tribunal. Means we don't stand to make any profit from future sale.
  4. Raya, Williams, Mulgrew, Lenihan, Nyambe, Smallwood, Evans, Samuel, Dack Bennett and Graham. Whilst we have the phone line open to Newcastle United, wonder if Mowbray is tempted to make a cheeky bid for Rolando Aarons and Ivan Toney?
  5. Cracking signing! Over the moon with this one!
  6. I'm not so much concerned with Ipswich's equalizer. It was a fluke. What concerns me more is the 1st goal we conceded. I still think Mulgrew's goals last season covered for some defensive lapses. In particular, he seems to struggle tracking, covering and heading in the box when under pressure. As I have said elsewhere. I do wonder sometimes if Mulgrew would be better in CM and a new, tall commanding CB take his place at the back.
  7. More likely that if we signed Gallagher it will be on loan (with fee paid) with a view to sign him permanently at the end of the season.
  8. I think Rovers will try and get Peter Whittingham, Ben Gladwin, Joe Nuttall, Willem Tomlinson, Sam Hart and Andy Fisher out on loan if they secure all the positions they want to. A box-to-box midfielder, striker, secondary striker, backup keeper and CB seem to be primary targets at the moment but can't help but feel we are still light a pacey winger. The next 4 days are going to be very busy and interesting! It will be further interesting to see which players/positions Mowbray decides to get in on loan and whether those players will have a fee agreed to make the move permanent should we succeed at the end of the season.
  9. If Armstrong went to PNE for £2 million people would be furious. It looks likely he's coming to us, so people are upset at the price we are paying? Under £2 million for a striker with a proven ability to score a wide range of goals capped at all England International levels bar the senior squad. If that isn't a bargain in footballing terms I don't know what is. We have gotten to used to being miserable. Guess what. Armo is coming home! Cheer the Hell up! We are finally making positive additions to our squad!
  10. Wonder if we might be interested in Sheyi Ojo who has just been made available for loan by Liverpool? Young, winger, talented and fast...
  11. The only way the above could possibly happen would be for both Samuel and Nuttall to go out on loan first. Even then I doubt we could afford both their wages.
  12. They would both want to be upfront. Which would be willing to sit on the bench with Graham?
  13. I'd rather take a forward who had a goals to games ratio of 1 in every 2 League One games (Armstrong) than 1 in every 6 last season and 1 in every 4 the season before in the Championship (Gallagher).
  14. New rear shirt sponsor on back of shirt. Looks ugly. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2018/july/rovers-announce-new-back-of-shirt-sponsor/
  15. Palmer signed on a SEASON LONG loan! https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2018/july/palmer-is-a-rover/
  16. I'm very nervous. This would be a brilliant signing. But this has come out the wrong side of the weekend if it is going to be finalized on Monday. 3 clear days where we could miss out unless Chelsea have given us first refusal.
  17. Okay. Maybe not November alone, but his performances over his time at Rovers did gain us promotion. If you break them down. He got the sole winning goal against Scunthorpe United (3 points), he got a goal and an assist against Oxford United (3 points), the winning third goal against Peterborough United (3 points) and an additional assist (1 point) for us against Scunthorpe United. Without those 10 points, we would have finished behind Shrewsbury United and had to rely on the play offs. People are happy to slag off Marcus for his time at Rovers, but we should remember that he contributed to the cause.
  18. Apart from gaining PFA Player of the Month award in November with a string of solid performances and goals which essentially guaranteed our promotion.
  19. Correct me if I am wrong. But a couple of weeks ago it was 4 signings. 2 loan, and 2 permanent. This week it is 3 signings. Most likely now two on loan and one permanent. The club are blatantly toning down expectations.
  20. Hell. I think most people on here would accept John Marquis + Jack Marriott as our striker signings and Marcus Maddison + Graham Carey as our midfield/winger signings. All four of them have very little if any Championship experience. The argument of ruling people out because they haven't played much in the Championship is apparently a luxury we cannot afford.
  21. How many players out of our starting XI have successfully? Neither Marcus Maddison or Jack Marriott have played in the Championship. Would you turn them away? Simple fact of the matter is Venky's have turned Blackburn Rovers into beggars and we certainly cannot be choosers as long as they continue. Any chance we have of success comes through risk. I'd rather have talented League One players who could surprise us all than be lacking in numbers. Something I fear we could be in the not to distant future.
  22. Really?! Jordan Roberts is a decent option, and would obviously offer more than Gladwin. Gwion Edwards is a talented winger, something we definitely need and at worst would be a decent option to complement Conway. Ellis Harrison is a very talented forward who would sit ahead of Samuel for me. Would have been a decent second striker out of the two strikers we need to sign.
  23. Don't remember anyone saying that. After Rothwell and Davenport it was always a "couple of loans and a couple of permanent signings."
  24. Armstrong has apparently been transfer listed by Newcastle United. They are listening to offers.
