Yes we need defenders. We simply won't last the season with what we have. However, in the games up to now the problem has been our midfield. Absolutely anonymous. AWOL. In hiding. Awful. Bullied every game. No control of the football. No link up play between defence and attack. Now I haven't quite put my finger on exactly why. I think its how they are being asked to play, combined with missing some proper experience in there. If it doesn't change we are in for a long season down the bottom.

Hedges and Warton played well when they came on. Changed the game. Ayala excellent as always. Otherwise it was shite.

At home we have had 2 shots on target. Really poor. Much better second half but didn't create any chances to score.

Stats now say we had 4 shots. Must have missed those. Unless they are counting some of the wayward passes as shots. Awful. We have no midfield at all. Ayala the only one with any credibility.

I thought Szmodics was playing.

So another 30 pages in the past 24 hours yet absolutely nothing has happened. 700 pages is a certainty now. Maybe something will happen on Tuesday after they return from the bank holiday.

We will be after free out of contract players a month after the window closes.

They will be taking their long bank holiday weekend. So in my mind there are only 3 days left and a game in there to distract. BBD goes on the last day with "no time to replace". We sign literally nobody then Ayala and Philips pick up injuries next weekend. This is easily the most likely scenario.

Just read the JDT interview. Alarm bells ringing (or he wouldn't say it). Comparison to the good job done by the DOF at Malmo.... compared to DOF Gregg. Clearly a big tension here. Basically managing our expectations... the towel has already been thrown in on this transition season. Vindication to those not buying STs. Nothing to see here. Might aswell fast forward to this time next year to save 4000 pages, lots of pain, frustration, money and arguments. If he walks I wouldn't be at all surprised. We all know the problem is the owners.

Yes he was but I'm pretty certain it was about getting better midfielders in front of him. Travis and Buckley is way to lightweight against any kind of physicality.

Think he said the game didn't need it i.e. we had already lost so a needless risk.

As Broughton said. His job is "to deliver the vision of the owners." This is not to deliver the vision of the fans. JDT said the same words. Waggott hasn't said it out loud but his continued employment says he is doing a fantastic job for the owners.

The problem is this has nothing to do with the defence. The midfield are completely awful / none existent. And I have to say it seems to be they are being told to play this way.
