The Summer Transfer Window (Press Submit)

It seems that Fadz may be showing signs of mental decline “You can’t not want to get promoted. For me, we want to get promoted." He makes Chaddy seem like a pessimist 😉 -

Seems that the plan is to get a lot more youngsters out on loan than we have seen previously Stuart Jones' role changed over the summer and he is now also overseeing loan moves for our players ages 17-21 https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2024/july/09/rovers-announce-academy-restructure/ Can only be a good thing if they are getting tested in genuine competitive games, it seems at least some of our various "head of," are useful, Jones certainly is -

Marine are 6th tier now (promoted last season), National League North, Atcheson is still 17 years old, decent loan move for him, half a season to learn men's football -
Now now, don't pick on the poor hard done to billionaires

Should Rover be down the bottom end of the table? Absolutely not! But given the funding, current squad etc, lower middle table is realistically the best we can hope for, barring Dolan becoming the next Szmodics/BBD/Armstrong/Dack and an unbelievably kind run of injuries on top of that

Especially when we consider that a guaranteed £9M does not necessarily even mean £9M up front. It will probably be £3M per year. Which is mental for a Prem team to be quibbling about -
would take that

Especially when many of us (myself included) think that the club accepted a low ball offer for Adam Wharton and could have held out for more, rather than just roll over and accept (one of) the first offers that comes in -

Or Rovers could haggle for an extra day, get an extra £100K or so closer on each deal, and be able to use the money "saved" to afford an extra/slightly better loanee. Either way at this stage, the new keeper is unlikely to be in place before registration cut off for Fridays game -

I am awaiting the day when Rovers end up with a points deduction for fielding an ineligible player because they did this and it turns out that they didn't complete the players registration 😉 -
I don't rate him, but that being said, the playing staff already there and cash at their disposal will ensure they go up . Thankfully the following season in the Prem could prove to be even more entertaining than last season when they had Kompany in charge

Yes, but he has had massive budgets in comparison to his rivals (which he will have again this season) Remember in Mowbray's last season when we were pretty much level with Bournemouth in the winter transfer window? Bournemouth spent a huge amount on the likes of Cantwell, Nat Phillips, Siriki Demeble, Keffer Moore, Freedie Woodman, Robbie Brady, James Hill, & Ethan Laird for a total of €8.04m, as well as bidding to unsettle Rothwell (and would have come under FFP scrutiny if they hadn't gone up), and sailed to 2nd place, where Mowbray brought in Zeefuik, Giles, Hedges, Markanday & James Brown (apparently for a net fee of €780k) At Fulham, he had enough money to keep hold of Mitrovic as well as signing a team full of players for a combined €37.00m in the Championship and still only managed to finish 4th, going up in the play offs. He is a classic chequebook manager

Yep, plays in the same position, but offers nothing of what Szmodcis does and seems to think he is Champions League quality -

I agree with you, If Rovers can afford to offer what Dolan wants (obviously within reason and wage scales etc) then I would hope that they would do so. I just foresee another Brereton-Diaz situation. Club wont offer what Dolan wants because he at the moment they either cannot afford (or do not think Dolan is worth) the wage that he wants. But as we saw with BBD, things can change very quickly, and a fast start to the season for him and there is no way Rovers will be able to offer a wage that would keep him here. I hope I am wrong -

Will it be split over 97 years so that we can afford it 😉 -

Dolan apparently has not ruled out signing a new contract, and wants to be Rovers talisman this season https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/24495732.ty-dolan-replacing-szmodics-blackburn-love-future/ Personally would be very surprised if he is still here next season (25/26). If he has a similar output as previous seasons, then I cant see Rovers offering him a contract on a decent enough wage to keep him, and if he has a fantastic start to the season, then Rovers wont be able to offer a good enough contract to keep him amid competition at the end of his contract. So for me, there is a very narrow "sweet spot" which will see Dolan still be here in a years time. -

I saw a few suggest/mention Dozzell over the weekend. Apparently has impressed for Sheff Utd on trial and is likely to sign for them https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-united/sheffield-united-set-to-make-andre-dozzell-decision-after-former-qpr-trialist-impresses-in-pre-season-4722823 Glad of that to be honest -

Maybe its the Championship version of the FFP workaround that Villa, Newcastle and Everton have done in recent weeks Each club values their player at £10M, means the incoming money all goes on this season, and the outgoing is spit over the lengths of the contracts Just a thought, seems a little too clever for Waggott though -
