  1. the modern football would`nt displace your hat let alone damage your brain?i love a good set piece move, remember cambridge under john beck, they all used to stand on the goalline and get the taker to launch it right under the crossbar, lethally effective
  2. im`e pretty certain we don`t practice them in training, you can see the lads have no pre planned instructions on them
  3. did big ben comes on and score all four goals?
  4. in comparison to years gone by ,sticking gallagher out wide is akin to saxton putting jimmy quinn on the wing or kenny sticking sutton there while ripley was played elsewhere, makes no sense and drives me mad, every time i see sam warming up i think ffs, ignore tony`s strange mindset and get yourself in the middle. a good manager would turn gally into a feared target man, take away his niceness and make him nasty to opposing centre backs,he`s big enough to cause real problems from set pieces and crosses, mowbray is`nt the type though, considering he was a dirty old fashioned centre half his teams are exactly the opposite of how he played, rovers don`t say boo to a goose when the games get a bit tardy
  5. never liked joe royle(a smug git),their ground(a freezing ****hole) or their fans,(duffle coat wearing w*****s),most of all it was the time they were succesful while we were struggling to just get in the play offs, hard to see a club comparable to stockport getting promoted, getting to wembley and nearly getting to the fa cup final, while the media fawned over them, that ****** plastic pitch was the key to their success,it was even worse than the the one at qpr
  6. never understood their maniacle hatred for us,it`s as if they need a new rival,i certainly don`t have the dislike of pne that i do for bolton, burnley and oldham, dad used to take us to sheepdale on occasions when rovers were away
  7. travelled to oxford by mini bus on a trip from the local pub,as we arrived early at midday we ended up in a dinghy pub just outside the city centre, landlord was delighted to see 15 lads land on his dilapidated and empty hostelry,we spent a few hours boosting his takings,no wonder he was so jolly, i think we were his only customers of the week, the manor ground was a complete dump,on a par with bloomfield road and a we witnessed garners last goal for rovers,a typical measured finish
  8. i hope we stand up to that big centre forward they have,he terrorised us last season at kenilworth road, the young lad carter got a harsh lesson in the reality of 1st team football
  9. happy times,we were playing some great stuff, keep em coming, fantastic?
  10. i remember this one with fondness, went on the train with 4 mates,we spent the majority of the game taking the **** out of a newcastle fan and his monstrously large girlfriend who were stood on the other side of the segregation fence, she looked like giant haystacks(the wrestler) in a white mini dress, they both took some fearful stick, from everyone around us,not just from us,even the police were grinning ,bearing in mind she was about 20 stone,in a mini dress in the middle of a north east winter
  11. was never more than a bog standard stopper, got middlesborough relegated and spent a lot of chairman gibsons money, resurfaced as england u21 manager and got knocked out of 2015 european championships in the group stages, bizarely was appointed england manager when big sams dodgy escapades got him the boot, fortunate to get an easy group in the world cup to progress, nice fellow no doubt but will always come up short against good sides, though in fairness you could say the same about a lot of england managers, only one in my lifetime who looked likely to push on and win anything was glen hoddle, victim of the fa self righteous brigade,if hoddle had kept the job and not been forced to resign after his somewhat silly comments,we`de have won the world cup in 2002,that side was the best national team since 1966 and 1970 no doubt
  12. besides shilton and clemence, england had some fantastic keepers in the 70`s and 80`s,corrigan,cooper,godden,ogrizovic,bradshaw,phil parkes, coton, bailey to name but a few,now who have we got??
  13. southgate is perfect for the f.a,he`s never going to say or do anything controversial and will tow the party line, the fa has always been like this,it`s why brian clough, jack charlton or lawrie mcmenemy never got the england job,all outspoken types, they suits would`nt have been able to control them, southgate is the safe option, despite being a mediocre player and mediocre manager
  14. wilcox was going through a bad spell at this time and was the recipiant of a lot of abuse,i remember clearly everyone screaming at him to pass to speedie and everyone getting ready to launch some hardcore vitriol, fortunately the shot went in,he`d have been absolutely pillored if he`d missed
  15. andy crawford with the winner, got a perfect view sat on my dads shoulders!!!!!!!!
  16. check out coventry`s away kit from the early 80`s,it was a mix of cream and brown, truly horrible
  17. rugby world cup final day if i recall correctly,at least the rovers did`nt get cheated by spennymoors b*****d son this time round, though the england rugby team got robbed by a bunch of aussies
  18. they should have let the millwall lot finish the demolition job in 1985?
  19. never been myself, however my mate insists you have to go through someones back garden to get to the entrance to the away end??!!is this true?
  20. so did i,there was fighting everywhere, police got well fed up and just started whacking everybody and anybody?
  21. everyone of us will agree that is a strong squad which should be challenging for the top six,imo the only handicap we now have is the manager,i don`t dislike him,i think he`s a top bloke,it`s just his management i don`t rate, deep down i know we`ll most likely win the next three games then fall away again by losing or drawing the following six
  22. 2-3 to chorley, the magnificent magpies march on
  23. 2-2 final score, hopefully chorleys legs will hold out, shame there is no replay, victory park would have been rocking
