We are going down (the pessimism thread)

This made me think of the stick that the N01 gave him about his wife in the reverse fixture. He ain't gonna let up is he. -

You’re all correct yes thank you for clearing that up. In my head I had it at 45 points being the highest total for a championship side in Peterborough but as it turns out I got the numbers the wrong way around and it was 54 haha. Also that assessment of the situation was helpful to me too. It really is very unlikely we go down but it wouldn’t be Rovers if we didn’t make things more difficult than they needed to be. -

A lot of the teams down there play each other in these last few fixtures so not all of them can win all their games. Saying that, there is a still a formula for Rovers to get relegated. Avoid defeat against Wednesday keeps us up I'd like to say. That opinion comes with us having at least 50 points on the board which will smash the highest points total for a relegated team and Birmingham City and Huddersfield Town playing each other in the penultimate game. Not sure what result I prefer in the Plymouth Argyle vs Stoke City game yet. A draw is possibly the best outcome for us? -

For me personally, the 1 point we earned against Southampton and the 3 points we earned against Leeds make up for the 4 dropped against Rotherham and Millwall at home. Both were must wins and we drew them both. They are bonus points They made up for the points we shouldn't have dropped in my opinion. -

I saw a decent analysis of the Championship relegation scenario recently. Ill post the link for anyone interested and that particular persons opinion was one in our favor. -

All this talk about attendances has reminded me a vid I watched recently. Putting all the championship teams in a league for attendance loyalty. I’ll link below for anyone interested. -

Maybe we should reside ourselves to starting a Phoenix club now. At least when the owners do run the club into the ground we could be a few tiers above the bottom of the English football pyramid... -
Sunderland sack Mowbray
Cuppliance replied to Tugayisgod's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I agree with that. MW had a mountain of a task to keep us in the league. He nearly did but yeah a month earlier and he may well have achieved it, Only losing 3 games out of the 15 shows how much he needed to turn it around. -

Yeah that pretty much sums it up. Although I didn't word it too well initially. -

Yeah that statement was a bit too broad. I didn't word it well and didn't proof read as I was quickly typing up a message before returning to work. But I do appreciate what Gallagher did over the whole season. He will have earned more points than the two he dropped that day but whenever I think about the relegation, I think of that game. If that didn't happen, Mowbray could well have kept us up. I think he did a good job to get us into a position where we nearly stayed up after the Owen Coyle disaster. The naive mistake that Gallagher did that day shouldn't lie on Mowbray getting us relegated. Hope that comes across better? -

Cuppliance replied to Tugayisgod's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Personally I've tended to blame Gallagher for us going down. Against Preston, he put a cross into a penalty box with no Rovers players in, instead of holding the ball in the corner and potentially winning a corner, throw in or even giving a throw in away to allow our players to reorganize a bit. Instead Preston put together an attack and scored in the dying seconds of the game. The whole season doesn't rest upon that moment but it was 2 points dropped which could have been very much avoided had he kept his head a bit and made a smart decision. Also it would of kept the momentum and confidence at the time. -

Not at the game as I’m under the weather today. What formation are we running following the red card? Same as before minus Dolan and Britain in Pickering’s position? -
I didn't sing it myself as I don't agree with that type of football banter but the Dingles were wondering why the Rovers fans were singing "Rocky in a box" to them at Turf Morgue. What do you expect after two decades of celebrating our owner's death...

Got to admit, I agree with you. My housemate is a City fan (Former Rovers ST holder. Another Story...) and we were saying that Burnley were playing well and look like they have enough about them to stay up. It all depends on if the rot sets in. A few losses and confidence is lost or the novelty of playing in the premier league is over and it feels like more of a struggle than an opportunity. Seen it happy many times. Although very rarely after a good performance like they the Dingles put out (despite the score of course).

23/24 kit; is a new sponsor needed?
Cuppliance replied to alex l's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Ranking every Championship home kit of the 2023-24 season (msn.com) Just seen this article ranking every championship team's kit. They seem to priorities the sponsor over anything else when ranking. What do people think of Blackburn's placing on the list? -
My dad is a Leeds fan. He's never let me forget about that. He told me the Rovers fans around him were saying they wanted Harte to take their free kick for them when Rovers got one outside the box.

Rovers fixtures 23/24

I've forgotten what a home match at 3pm Saturday feels like. Two in a row is very welcome. Don't let sky notice that though. They will find a way of changing it. -
23/24 kit; is a new sponsor needed?
Cuppliance replied to alex l's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The first halved kit was navy blue and white but yeah, majority of the kits after that were light blue. I personally like it. There was the kit used for 2019-2020 that I remember being lighter than normal but no one seemed to care too much. I guess it was because it was darker than the sky blue of the previous season. I do love that sky blue and white halves with the white shorts and navy socks though. -

Cuppliance replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Exactly. The only time sky use premier league winner tag with Rovers is when they want to rub it in at how far we've fallen. "Blackburn Rovers are now the first team to have won the premier league and then play in League One". They hadn't mentioned Rovers being former PL champs for years before that. -

We are getting a new sponsor by the looks of things. Richard Sharpe has posted about it on twitter although it's not confirmed to be a new sponsor. -

What I found frustrating following the Armstrong sale was that we started to play counter football compared to the possession football when we had him. Imagine how useful Armstrong would have been in the season after he left. The lad could run! -
Happy St George's day
Cuppliance replied to roverandout's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I felt like Sunday was more of a 'Phone alarm test day' than 'Saint George's Day'. Sad really. They decided to do that alarm test on the 23rd April as though it was just any given Sunday.
