I can't say I'm 'panicked' personally, just as long as we get most of the players we need by the close of the window. However, in response to your points, I'd agree it can't be easy making signings, but with two caveats:- 1) This summer has been a shitshow of incompetence, even by our standards. 2) Nearly every other club in our division seems to be making signings ok.

It's fair to say we're always pretty shite when it comes to operating efficiently in transfer windows. This summer we've had the added disruption of the old manager being slowly released back into the wilds of North Yorkshire without any kind of plan to get a new one in. Waggott et al were that useless they had to get a new DoF in first to get them out of the shit and find JDT, even though the plan was to get the manager first and then the DoF (which was illogical anyway). We also lost the head of recruitment. I'm not sure the new one has even started yet. And this is during a transfer window! So we finally make some moves in the window, only to decide to pursue a few players whose wages we can't afford and who can get much better elsewhere. We now appear to have gone back to the old head of recruitments list of targets (Brittain etc), even though it was hinted by Sharpe and others that the delay was because we had drawn up a new list. It reeks of incompetence, but it's nothing new under the current regime. Hopefully they now pull their collective fingers out and bring in 4 or 5 quality 1st team players before 1st Sept. Tick tock...

Based on premise you need 2 players competing for each position and the bids that have gone in:- GK - ok RB - ok CB - need at least one. LB - ok (probs not a priority but an upgrade needed at some point unless Pickering/Edun improve dramatically under JDT) CM - need at least one (Morton?) AMR - ok AML - need at least one if BBD goes (Berget?). AMC - need one to compete with Dack (Szmodics?) Striker - Are Vale and SG enough if BBD leaves?

Quite frank(ing)ly, yes it was.

Best guess for who he'll pick, but could swap Markanday for either Dolan or Vale. Be interesting to see who he views as his strongest XI out of the current lot. KaminskI Brittain Ayala Wharton Pickering Travis Buckley Markanday Hedges BBD Gallagher -

You asked what I based it on so I answered. And I said 15-20. Turning 11 goals into 15 isn't a big stretch if playing in a better team. -
Transfer news: Summer transfer window 2022 - Championship ins and outs | Transfer Centre News | Sky Sports All Championship transfers as of yesterday. It may have been mentioned but we've got a bit of catching up to do with most clubs! Interestingly, or not, the guy in the very first post of this thread ended up at Wigan in the end. Another one to Nixon. Aye.

Nope, 4 at the back at Malmo. The only reason he played 3 CB's in early pre-season is that he had a lot of CB's and not many CM's. That was told to Sharpe. Jon Dahl Tomasson at Blackburn Rovers 2022/23 - tactical analysis (totalfootballanalysis.com) "In possession, Tomasson set his Malmö side up primarily in a 4-2-3-1" "Out of possession...When not engaging in a press Tomasson sets his side up in a mid-block. This midblock takes place in a 4-5-1 formation"

Good post. I think the difference under Coyle was we played with proper wingers - I think he scored about 12 that season and 4 or 5 were with his head. Another was that screamer of a volley! He's a better player than he's given credit for. Agree on the 'first touch', he isn't a natural with his back to goal like Graham was for example....Sharpe did make the point though that in pre-season he has dropped a lot deeper than he used to and has been linking up play on the deck a lot more than he did under Mowbray....that touch round the corner for the Vale goal was sublime! Agree on his instinct to get in the box under Mowbray, he was often 5 yards behind where the ball ended up. Hopefully that was just a confidence/coaching thing and that he'll be more proactive under a more attacking coach.
