  1. some bloke on twitter who recently chatted with Mogga at Sunderland v hartlepool
  2. If that's true I'll graciously retire from this discussion 🙂 , but @unsall seems to be labouring under the same misconception as me.
  3. You've just completely ignored the 70% rule (straw man aside about other clubs not adhering to it which is irrelevant) and gone on about BBD being sold. You also ignored that the players I mentioned were predominantly players we own, not loanees.
  4. It's more inverted wingers than wing-backs, we're going to be playing 4 at the back it looks like.
  5. How many did he get under Coyle playing centrally in a shite team with a shite manager?
  6. Why? We've lost our 3 best defenders, our midfielder with the most assists, and we'll probably lose BBD. Add to that the FFP rules have changed so it will be a lot harder for Rovers to attract players over the next few years because we simply can't pay the wages. The financial playing-field has fundamentally changed in a way that I'm not sure people have grasped. Our wage-to-revenue ratio is something like 140% ... in 3 years time it's needs to be 70%.
  7. UEFA's new financial sustainability regulations to replace FFP: All you need to know | Football News | Sky Sports Good article here on the rule changes. As you say, we will only be able to spend 70% of revenue on wages in 3 years time (it's being phased in over 3 years to help clubs adapt) so we need to either slash our wage bill by then or dramatically increase revenue.
  8. What stood out from Mowbray's time at the club was how little we'd get to the by-line and score from crosses (or crosses from anywhere for that matter) I hope Brittains assist in the last game is a sign of things to come and that Gally is in the box more to get on the end of crosses. I think in an attack-minded team with the right service Gally is more than capable of 15-20 goals this season.
  9. I think I'd take £15m too, but only if we have someone else lined up. It's not easy to replace 22 goals, but hopefully we play a more attacking game this year and get more goals from the rest of the team.
  10. In fairness, getting the Dog & Duck to mid-table in Div 3 of the Blackburn Combination is a decent effort.
  11. That's very simplistic. Mowbray's wide men played wide, JDT wants them to come central and the FB's to provide the width. Same system, different tactics.
  12. He was linked with Hibs, but his salary demands were apparently too much for them. That's different to 'not good enough'. He was also on the verge of joining a team in the Champions League (FC Zurich??) before Rovers signed him up.
  13. Exclusive: Sevilla offer still short of Blackburn Rovers’ asking price – Football League World
  14. Hope you're right....I don't know much about his time there, apart from his teams apparently scored a lot of goals.
  15. Agreed, that's a decent Championship team. The time to worry will be on 1st Sept if we don't make 3 or 4 additions that are better than what we've got. My worry generally is the defence. Mowbray, to his credit, solved the problem going to 3 CB's. If JDT is a 2 CB's chap and we play a high line then Ayala is going to be exposed and we have no idea how good Wharton will be in a back 4. Then there's Pickering.
  16. 13,000 x £280 = £3.64m (PNE) 7,800 x £399 = £3.11m (Rovers) Quantum of Incompetence. (sounds like the next Bond movie)
  17. Glad we agree that nobody was portrayed as a 'monster'. In your own words, your comment was 'unnecessary'. And I was just stating facts. Mowbray said some 'unnecessary' things in the press about the fans when the pressure was on due to the fact he wasn't very good at winning football matches. And you missed the point anyway, I wasn't talking about Mowbray's demeanour at open day's, I was talking about how JDT sees a connection with the fans as vital to move the club forward. Here are his comments:- “We work hard and we will train an easy session on Monday and try to start that connection. We would like to sign an autograph for every person that is there. We can’t manage that but hopefully we will get them signed throughout the season. Hopefully, we will get that connection because it is important. The first home game we will try and get that connection, the ping pong between the fans and players. They give us power and energy.”
  18. Is that response to my post? If so, where did I portray him as a 'monster'?
  19. That's brilliant! He said some very positive things about the open training day, how him and the team would sign every autograph if they could and how he wants to build a connection with the fans. Makes a change from the thinly-veiled attacks on the fanbase from Waggott and Mowbray.
  20. I think the argument that the 'high pressing' style encumbers Dack's place in the team is slightly over-played. He won't be match fit yet so shouldn't even be considered for the team. When he is fit I'm sure he can cope with closing down the DM of the opposition. It's not like he's an attacking FB spending 90 mins running up and down the flank. Firmino was never quick but he coped OK for years in a team that presses relentlessly. I'm sure there are plenty of other examples. What is in Dack's favour is that he's the best footballer in the team, and the best goal scorer, and probably the best No10 in the division. If JDT can't find a space for a fit Dack into his team then the game's gone!
  21. Parrott's gone on loan to PNE. No point bringing people in on loan who aren't as good as what we've got.
