v Harrogate (a) - 31/8/23 - Carabao Cup

One of the many reasons why I appreciate JDT is that we're finally taking cup runs seriously again. -

Anyone with the benefit of replays, was the 2nd goal offside? It looked it to me. -

Well that was idiotic from Pickering, and not the first time he has flubbed his lines under the ball. Hyam should have been taking charge of that situation and bringing the ball under control. It really hammers home that we need an upgrade at left back. Such a pity that the budget has been cut... -
Ben Doak coming off the bench for Liverpool probably puts paid to any notions of a loan move.

Coventry haven't looked anything special today but Middlesbrough have been abysmal. They have very little goal threat and have looked calamitous at the back, topped with a quintessential Lenihan OG. Lots of work for Carrick, it would seem.

Not nervous for a second... Now to laugh at all the teams starting penalty shootouts vs League 2 clubs. Rovers could never! -

Rotherham are being held by a League 2 team at home, so perhaps they should be even more worried. -

I'm not sure teams will be lining up for a Hilton loan after this game. -

Good finish. Bit worried that Plymouth have mugged us off by sending us Ross Ennis instead of Niall... -

JDT doing early, proactive subs this season. I love it. -

It sounds as though we could also do with another left back. Has Cox moved to Hull yet? -

Sounds like a game we'll all regret not being able to get to. -
That was a good decision by the referee, Clarke was looking to go down the second he got into the box.

I feel safe in going out on a limb and predicting Jobe Bellingham will have nowhere near the career Jude has already had to date.

Leonard certainly has the skills necessary to hit double digits in a full season. It might not be wise to put that sort of pressure on him but I liked how serious he looked throughout the game - he might just have a winner's mentality. -

I thought Travis started last season well and seemed to be running on fumes for the last couple of months. With better rotation (see: strength in depth), I reckon he can keep playing to a higher standard throughout the season. -

I thought Brittain was really good when he came on, the defence was much more assured with his introduction. Hopefully he can keep fit and make the position his own, potentially freeing up JRC in a more advanced role. -

On that showing, I'd like the George Cox rumours to come to fruition as well. -

Leonard is probably going to be starting against West Brom so it's best to make sure he's as sharp as possible, I guess. -

It still boggles my mind that somebody can devote their life to playing football and not think to develop their weaker foot.- 504 replies

But if presented with an open goal, it makes things a little easier... -

They keep working hard to win the ball from the front, with the biggest downfall being they don't know what to do with it when they actually win it back.
