  1. I'd argue that more players through the door is essential. The squad is desperately thin and contains a few injury prone players. If the window closed now I'd be very fearful of relegation. Edit: spelling
  2. Absolutely he was. But we don't have Benni or Roque now. Roberts would start every game and Sammie would feast.
  3. Now now, I'd bite your hand off for Jason Roberts in this team. Sammie would score 40+
  4. Yeah could be it, that side of it does seem strange to me. I'm not speculating that he's pissed off at Rovers, but he did genuinely seem miffed about something. Time will tell, I guess.
  5. Yeah he's got that side to him sure, but today felt different.
  6. Looked thoroughly pissed off all game today.
  7. Of course the age of a player matters. Idah has significant resale value. Sammie one bad injury away from his career petering away.
  8. It really isn't. A number of things would have to happen in order for there to be another similar opportunity. Don't get me wrong, I don't think we owe him anything, both parties have benefitted from his time here.
  9. Eh, I think that is probably tongue in cheek. Either that or with the long term view of Venkys calling it quits because the money has dried up. If we were in a strong selling position I'd suggest that Sammie is worth at least £15m, but we're broke, desperate and there's seemingly only one buyer. Ipswich are doing what we would do in their place. He needs to be sold.
  10. Siggy and Dolan won't fetch half the fee of Sammy between them. Everyone seems to be forgetting that the club wants to sell Sammie. The negotiating/stalling is to get as much money as possible so as to have to provide less money from India. I said it a couple of weeks ago, Sammie will be sold.
  11. I hold out hope that Siggy can realise his potential but im fairly sure Markanday isn't up to it at this level. Relying on players like Duru and Tyjon as anything more than luxury subs when we're winning is asking for trouble if you ask me.
  12. I'm fairly sure you have me on ignore but here goes... If you think these two positions have quality and depth I'm at a loss. 2 unproven strikers, an injury prone youngster and a 16 year old as a strike force. Since when is Dolan a 10? Wiemann I like but if he's the answer I'm not entirely sure of the question. You can add goalkeeper and RB to the list of woefully understaffed positions. The squad as it stands is relegation fodder.
  13. Fairly sure it was legitimate. Dutch local press were all over it as well as the LET. Just a combination of stinginess and incompetence.
  14. The point stands that they haven't spent any of their money. They have saved money. The outlay on the new strikers is more than covered by the sales even since Wharton. They have not invested in their business. They've cut costs.
  15. I'm sorry but no, you can be literal if you like but investment would be significant outlay. By all accounts our wages have decreased and we've spent less than we brought in. That is not investment.
  16. We have not seen investment this summer.
  17. Rovers saw the opportunity of a loan or freebie and put the brakes on. OM took advantage. Shame.
  18. It's been said before but I resent the comment that it "wouldn't be good enough for some people on here if we signed Messi". I get that it's hyperbole but what about Rovers' current situation should fans be delighted about? Aging freebies? Unproven, cheap (though admittedly intriguing) strikers? Financial confusion? Again fans are told they should be grateful for the bare minimum.
  19. I've not seen one person say we should be spending £5m on a single player. There's a happy medium between that and spending basically nothing on an entire frontline.
  20. And if we're accepting that Pears is the required standard then we've fallen so very far.
  21. Aside from him being a mercurial ratbag, he won't be considering championship teams and if he did, certainly not us. I also imagine his wage demands would be far more than we're able and willing to pay.
  22. Seems like Ruddy might be a fallback. The other two have plenty of interested parties, I think.
  23. Comparing Finneran's departure to Waggot's decimation of this club is egregiously misguided.
  24. Well from a rovers perspective, yeah, as we'll benefit from that success. There's no reason, spite aside, to hope for him to fail.
