  1. People telling young kids how they should think about football shirts and club loyalty is very funny. I had a white West Ham away kit when I was 10 cos my mum got it cheap in the sale from a sports shop. I loved that shirt. I also had the Southampton away shirt around the same time. This was the early 80s. Football kits are fascinating to football obsessed young lads. &nbsp Lighten up 😉
  2. There’s nothing more cringe than a battle of the superfans😉
  3. I’m fully invested in following AW’s career. He seems a very unassuming, likeable lad who also happens to be a very very good footballer. Most importantly, he’s also a Rovers fan. Cant wait to see how he gets on. Apologies if that makes me a bit ‘cringe’.
  4. Peter O’Rourke linking us with an 18 year old Right Back called Tristan Rowe on loan from Aston Villa. Our cup runneth over….
  5. Thanks, my old man was going to get one but can only make Saturday 3pm games really. Even at Senior prices in the JWU that makes it north of £40 a game. He’s not bothering.
  6. Henderson was the one who lost it in front of the BBE when he was playing for Shrewsbury in our promotion from L1 season. Epic tantrum
  7. Out of interest, how many Saturday 3pm league games were there last season at Ewood?
  8. Oh right see what you mean. I can’t imagine they’d stoop so low as to blatantly deceive the fan base on matters of fact. Then again….
  9. Dolan’s grown on me this season. I think he’s learning more about playing to his strengths. He is a goal threat and he is capable of putting in some really good crosses. His pressing and work rate are excellent. His weakness is losing possession too easily, either through trying to be too clever, trying to run his man on the outside, or poor quality passes. We got him on a free and have probably been paying him peanuts. He’s been a really good signing based on that alone.
  10. I think he meant what club he’s going to, not what social function.
  11. Apologies if I’m missing something but why would that be the clubs angle? That guidance quote has them bang to rights. Supporting women’s football has no impact on FFP.
  12. Do you accept you were wrong about the 3000 minutes?
  13. There’s an article in the Guardian today on the Rovers women’s team and funding issues, if someone can link it in here.
  14. Doesn’t surprise me. He’s got a lot of potential. Newcastle were heavily linked a couple of seasons back.
  15. It’s just opinions really. DS could go on to be a top Championship defender. If the club agree they’ll sign him on that basis.
  16. If the idea is to get ‘assets’ into the club then Sanderson fits the bill. If they can get him for £1m and flog Hyam for £1m then it fits the ‘project’ as DS has bigger potential re-sale value. He’ll also be on less wage than Hyam.
  17. Currently we have: Hyam - is it 1 year left on his contract? Carter - 1 or 2 years left and made of glass Batth - out of contract Wharton - no idea if he’ll come back the same player. So there might be plenty of CB vacancies on a month or two if the likes of Hyam and Carter are sold and Batth goes elsewhere.
  18. He’s young with potential so £1m seems reasonable. He was apparently very good in the Championship at Brum under Eustace. But yeah we didn’t see enough of him to make an judgement either way.
  19. I thought Sandersons end of season interview was quite gushing about his time here, and the fact he said a couple of times that ‘who knows I might be back one day’. That explains it if we are interested in doing a deal and he wants to come. Probably a good investment at £1m
  20. You need to read it again. They made a clear distinction between automatic and play off promotion. I was talking about automatic, which they literally said wasn’t possible without parachute payments. Ipswich literally got promoted automatically without parachute payments. Hope that assuages your confusion.
  21. not that simple. In L1 owner investment counts as club income, which is why Brum were allowed to spend £20m on transfers last summer. That was also why Ipswich were allowed to spend big. Basically the owners put in as much money as they want and there’s no restriction. Think they changed it since Brum went on their spending spree so now the L1 rules are stricter about owner investment. It gets interesting now they’re in the championship as the 3 year rule applies….but does it apply retrospectively? Some finance experts say that the owner investment in L1 should not be counted as income, but others say that could be challenged. As for Ipswich they were only in the Championship for 1 season so they never fell foul of the rules.
  22. They said automatic promotion isn’t attainable for a club without parachute payments. Ipswich did it.
  23. How did Luton and Ipswich manage to go up if promotion isn’t attainable for a club ‘like ours’ without parachute payments?
