Dunno about truth of it but TransferMarkt says he plays a 3-4-2-1 formation, so could signal a continuation of three at back, just after we didn't sign a left wing-back and brought in a couple of inside-forwards. Hopefully he'd be pragmatic rather than dogmatic, as I think we need to play 4-2-3-1 given squad we have now.

I have always felt Ohashi would work well as a 10, playing as more of a second striker like Szmodics did, remember he wasn't a particularly "creative" 10 like Ozil but a poacher running from deep. Ohashi's passing vision is fine, and his positioning is good. He also makes all the other forwards he plays with better through his pressing. People are too harsh on him for being run ragged by Ismael with no support. If we played better as a unit, with a front four of Gudjohnson, Jorgenson on left, Ohashi 10 and Morishita on right, I think that would complement reasonably well, with Afolayan on a wing if Jorgenson struggles.

Vital win, but pathetic performance against worst team in league, we are lucky to win that, needed a goal-line clearance to prevent a draw at home to Wednesday. First 15 mins were encouraging but after we scored it was all Sheff.

Baradji has very obvious talent, but drifts in and out of game for some reason, right manager and he is an elite Championship player.

Morishita on the right is a good outlet, get Alebiosu on overlapping and it will be even better. Replace Cantwell with Ohashi as a second striker in hole, will press and allow actual striker Jorgenson or bring on Gudjohnson to poach, and give two targets in box.

Poor first half I think, struggling to beat a team who have won 1 game all season, and we are at home. Some positives like Morishita and Baradji had a couple of moments, but Cantwell poor. But don't worry Gestede says the squad is "better" and Suhail is choosing the next manager...

Coleman would be a diabolical appointment, failed everywhere except with the arguably the best Wales squad ever. But his last jobs have been in Greece, Belgium and Cyprus; mates with Kean and presumably therefore Suhail; former-player; and knowing our lot, the owners might know his name from the Sunderland documentary. Unbelievable that Suhail is being given free reign to destroy the club for a 3rd time with his network of agents bullshit; happened in 2010 when they bought us; 2016 odd when it got us into L1, and now again. How is he still involved and why on earth do the owners let him do it? Are they getting kick-backs too or are they just incompetent beyond all belief, its pathetic.

Maybe by a L2 rival in two years time when De Neve and Henriksson are our star players...

Posted it in the other thread, but my biggest fear is more links to guys like Luis Boa Morte and George Boateng. We need a guy who will keep us up this season, then plan long-term in summer with time to shape squad (not that we will obviously)

Depends if Pickering's freeze-out was a choice by Ismael or forced by Suhail/Gestede for contractual reasons..

Forgot Wharton was back in training, had in mind he was done for season again, even more problems with squad then.

Assuming we stick with 4-2-3-1, squad maybe looks something like: Toth, Pears, Alebiosu, Miller Carter, O'Riordan Cashin, McLoughlan Pickering, Ribeiro Tronstad, Forshaw, Tavares Baradji, Gardner-Hickman, Garrett Cantwell, Henriksson Dapo, De Neve, Kargbo Morishita, Jorgenson Gudjohnson, Ohashi Leaving Wharton, Hedges unregistered I would guess; assuming Atcheson, Litherland, Doherty, Montgomery etc don't need registered. Incidentally, I would happily sell: McLoughlan, Carter, Tavares, Henriksson, De Neve, Kargbo, Cantwell, Montgomery and one of Ribeiro/Pickering

Each year somehow proves more and more that we are the least competently run football club in England; even teams in administration are somehow better run than us. Manager gone in February three years in a row, probably all due to executive incompetence. Squad gutted from top half to relegation fodder in service of "the plan", aka cut some costs for Suhail's bonus. For the second year in a row we are set to have too many players to register at the end of a transfer window. This time two instead of just one; which on top of our L2 wages means nobody decent will ever want to play or manage us again until Venkys go.
