As long as we get enough for him in order to secure Bellamy, then Id be pleased. Bellamy won't get as many goals as Benni, but he will create more goals for others, so I expect the same number of goals that Benni scored, just from a larger spread of players....

Hey Mate, you speak to Wigan fans now and they'll tell you how they are missing Henchoz.....Todd's ok, but not good enough to warrent a regular first team spot. At his age this probably bugs him after being player of year etc for a couple of seasons....He would be a great signing for Wigan, but a loss to the Rovers.

I think Gally's the last person Hughsey will be letting go. In my opinion he offers us something different and will come on strong in the next year or so. Some people take longer to develop.

Why don't the shop print numbers and names on shirts that you didn't buy from them? My son got a the away kit for chrimbo and I had a massive problem getting Tugay put on the back as we didnt have the receipt. We get all our rovers stuff from the shop. Also, he got a Turkey top for chrimbo which he'd also like to get Tugay's name on. They wouldn't do this...anyone could see that it was a proper shirt (Nike).....I didn't realise we can afford to turn tenners down. Am I missing something here in relation to damaging the top etc....????

There wasn't an "Academy" as such, but when these lads turned 14 they will have trained with United twice a week and generally done everything that Academy 14 year olds do now. The only difference now is that clubs can sign a kid at under 9's now as opposed to 14 in the Giggs era. They stop with the club and are nurtured. This has been going on in France for years and they have produced World Cup winning players.....In fact the FA were going to model the new English Academy on the one in France...Is it called Bloem fontaine or something like that. With the Academy system like it is, there is less chance of a club missing talent than ever before. So, I think Academy's are a very important aspect of any club that wants to be successful long term.

Its very simple...My son started to attend Bolton's Academy after spending the last season at Manchester United. In speaking to people it seems that Blackburn go for size and strength before skill and balance. Manchester United is a lot different. The emphasis is solely on skill, tricks, dummies a la Ronaldo...Each kid is encouraged to dribble and there are some right greedy little blighters....This is the theme until they get to teenage years, then they are taught how to play in a game.... You only have to look at the results for the Academy kids and Blackburn win a lot...because they have the bigger kids. Uniteds younger kids suffer in games and generally lose.....You watch what happens as the players develop around 14/15.....it changes round completely.... This is a long term problem at Rovers which needs looking at.....Skilfull kids are either not going there or are getting kicked all over and moving to another club. It needs to be recognised and put right.

So, we have Lonsdale on the front of the shirts for one season, but the entire merchandising arm of the Rovers business has gone right up the shoot. We're one of only 20 premiership clubs and if done correctly by our so-called marketing experts, we should be securing better quality sponsorship deals. Its a disgrace that Rovers have submitted the rights to market their brand to some two bob bit "Closing Down Sale" type jumble sale. That said, if we do retain an interest in how our products are marketed by SW, then that in itself is further proof that heads should roll.

The main bulk of Rovers funds comes from the TV rights....not the shop. They would sell the same amount of merchandise whether you, me or anyone sold the stuff.....The point is that we're cheapening our brand by letting companies like Sports World be associated with us....Jesus, you go into one of them shops and it like a jumble sale....crap everywhere and the staff are particularly useless. This reflects badly on BRFC. Frankly I find it embarassing that we're in partnership with this type of company.

My view is that if the marketing isn't working, and you can argue whether it is or not, Mr John Williams will be less inclined to fire the man responsible if this man is his son. I couldn't care less about supposed years of service in home shopping working for daddy....This is our club and I want people running it that can bloody well do the job.... In my opinion everything to do with the shop looks cheap....(this surely comes under the sales and marketing banner) I wonder just how much Rovers gear Sports World sells out of this area....I believe we need to get away from this cheap Lonsdale type rubbish. We're a Premiership club, with a lower league mentality and this is down to the people that drive the name forward commercially. It's a scandal!!!!

I notice that the clubs head of PR is called Mr. Coar and the head of Sales and Marketing is called Mr Williams. Surely this isn't what I think it is. If it is then the club must hang its head in shame...
