  1. I have all the time in the world for Dunny, but relying on him to carry a team for a whole season just isn't very smart. With Benni on the pitch no one would have to carry the team and we would be much more likely to actually score.
  2. Zigic might want to see out the situation at Valencia, they may very well have to sell Villa in the next transfer window and that could be his big chance. Janko is however not so unlikely, his value should have dropped a bit by now.
  3. You have some good points there, but none of them surpasses the obvious: McCarthy scores goals, and we can't afford to turn that down in our situation. If we had a more solid squad we could have got those goals/levelled out the difference some other way, bu we don't.
  4. Benni might not be the easiest of individuals to coach, but this smells a lot of Sam Allardyce to me. Benni don't run around and get stuck in like Kevin Davies or Di Santo, and in Allardyce's book that means that you're not going to play. I guess it's the price we pay for having him as a manager.
  5. Werder Bremen played Diego as a central midfielder in a 4-4-2 before he went to Juventus, with great success. Then again they used Frings as a right sided midfielder to help their midfield sitter with his defensive duties in harder away games (Champions League etc.), and then again Dunn isn't Diego...
  6. I just read an Italian fansite which stated that Dino Baggio played a total of 9 games for Rovers in the 03/04 season, and even more peculiarly scored one goal. I remembered him as someone who never got a first team game at all and just goofed off in the reserves for a few months, but obviously I was wrong? Does anyone remember that particular goal he is supposed to have scored?
  7. Nissa is playing for AIK in the Swedish league, stuck at left back (again!) despite claiming to be a centre half... The only Brazilian I recognise is Wendel, he's playing for Bordeaux who won the Ligue 1 last season.
  8. According to soccerbase he has scored 48 goals for us. Has any other striker done that in a Rovers shirt since Gallacher?
  9. In other news; I'm still struggling with the new Depeche Mode album. I love their work before that (apart from the early albums and 2001: s "Exciter") but apart from 3 or maybe 4 songs I just feel Sounds of the Universe (the new album) kind of lacks punch. Martin Gore needs something sad to happen to him again to spark his songwriting, while Dave Gahan just needs to stay off writing songs!

  11. It seems my memories from this match is getting foggier and foggier by the minute, but I do remember Bentley scoring a hat-trick on the day of his permanent transfer, one being on the rebound of a fantastic Gamst Pedersen screamer against Van Der Sars crossbar. Lucas Neill got a goal from a penalty, and Rio Ferdinand played central midfield for United in the first half and was rubbish. I really need some more facts here. Starting lineups, the games starting time, goalscorers, attendance, substitutions... Please help me out! PS: Was this the same season when we were a Mickey Gray header against the crossbar at White Heart Lane from breaking into the top 4?
  12. I don't know if the first post is still being updated, but Florent Sinama-Pongolle has once again reached Champions League levels with a move from Huelva to Atletico Madrid. Saw someone mention Jimmy Corbett aswell, that was Souness first signing for us! I also remember him saying something about how "a club's foundation was it's youngsters " in the press release...
  13. Rothen is A: Nowhere nere a central midfield player, probably the mot traditional winger left in the game. B: At PSG, the club he has supported since childhood. He could have gone to any club he wished after Monacos run in the Champions League, but opted for his french favourites. A+B equals Forget it and sharpen up!
  14. Good god, beautiful women in GERMANY?! I really pity you englishmen who are doomed to live in a nation with women so ugly that you call german women beautiful...
  15. If i see another mentioning of Jonh Curtis in this section I will slay someone. My absolute favourite in the promotion team, I hate the defenders of today who can put in crosses but dont know how to defend! Curtis was a silent soldier, a man who did his job and did it good. Actually he is, according to me, closer of figuring in the voting for "best right-back ever" than "worst right-back ever... Outrageous!"
