Summer Transfer Window 2019
Commondore replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Torino are currently fifth in the Serie A, two points off a Champions League qualification with two games left. Why would they be interested in a sick note utility player from the Championship? Smells like an agent bigging him up before new contract negotiations. -
They absolutely battered us for the first 20 minutes, could have scored five if not for Leutwiler (although he should have saved their first) and we should probably have had a penalty against us as well as a red card on Lenihan. We couldn't deal with heir high pressing, and neither Graham nor Dack gave an outlet by running for through balls or locking the ball in their half. As mentioned above they took their foot off the gas after the second goal and we could start exploiting their tendency to commit so many players forward a bit, but all in all any points from that game would have been daylight robbery. I thought Bell had a decent game, particularly in attack, and Rothwell looked promising as a central midfielder. I also liked the look of Chapman when he came on, but he seems more like a traditional winger that goes to the byline for a cross rather than cutting infield, so he looked awkward playing on the left. Conway however looks past it on this level, certainly as a winger, and both Travis and Rodwell were well and truly overrun in midfield.

Summer Transfer Window 2019
Commondore replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Maybe I'm being thick, but do we really have a history of missing out on talent that flourishes elsewhere? Recently I can't think of anyone besides O'Connell, and historically maybe Shay Given? But that's just off the top of my head though, who am I not thinking of? -
How did Nuttall get on, any signs he'll be able to stay and fight for a place next season?
-
Jack Byrne is in the Ireland squad for their qualifiers against Gibraltar and Georgia this weekend. Apparently he plays for Shamrock Rovers nowadays.

First priority should be to stop shipping goals, not sure that 11 is up to that particular task. Williams and Nyambe are both full backs, Magloire is green, the midfielders are runners rather than shielders...

Best Rovers Team Youve Seen
Commondore replied to joey_big_nose's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I started writing this up and in the end landed on Mark Hughes' strongest team + pre injury Jansen instead of Bellamy, and even that's a stretch. Central midfield and full back really haven't been our strongest positions in the last 15 years or so. -
Connor Mahoney scored one and assisted the other goal for Brum (2-1 against Bristol City) last night.

Playing for Malmö FF in the Europa League 1/16 finals against Chelseas right now.

Rovers V Bristol City

Are both Graham and Dack confirmed out? -
*As an overseas fan, I don't feel any particular way about Burnley. I do sympathize with the extra joy or gloom it brings other supporters when we win or lose against them, but for me personally they're just another team. *Tom Cairney was never that good. *The fact that our current team sports four players straight from the academy that have proven to be dependable or better at Championship level has been supremely underrated.

Terrible result, reminiscent of the Bowyer days when we always seemed to self-destruct whenever the playoff places started to look like a real possibility. The difference from then is that today we have a team of young players on the up, and that the club has gathered a bit of momentum over time for the first time in ages. It's no surprise that we become a highly weakened team without both Graham and Dack, let's just hope it will happen as seldom as possible.

They ended last season in 8th place, they're in 9th after today. Hardly the fall of Rome.

AndERS Andersson! Andreas is this handsome lad:
-
He was out of contract after last season and very clear with wanting to move on and play abroad, so I'm sure he was shopped around and probably passed through the Rovers network some time or other. He's decent, but nowhere near the national team (his caps are all from B-level games with players exclusively from the Scandinavian leagues).

Not entirely sure if this fits the thread, but it's too good to go unnoticed; Don't miss you opportunity to own a genuine 1999 Dario Marcolin away shirt! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Blackburn-Rovers-18-Marcolin-Player-Shirt-1999-00-Large-L-Uhlsport-Jersey/333026064602?hash=item4d89e678da:g:h~oAAOSwTEZcRMIU:rk:9:pf:0

Because he oversaw promotion from League 1 and has us mid-table as newcomers, mainly on the strength of players he revived or brought to the club on a comparative pittance? Sometimes I feel like the indignity of playing in the Championship (and, shudder, League 1) makes us overly hostile towards the team and manager. There needs to be a reasonable balance between lowering expectations to realistic levels and avoiding settling for too little, but I think we're currently focusing too much on the latter at the cost of the former.

Not while playing for Rovers though, same goes for the lovely Gael Givet.

Millwall away Saturday 12th Jan kick off 17.30
Commondore replied to arbitro's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
There's usually a fifth one in the stands taking note on the first official's performance if I remember correctly, might have been that guy. As others have mentioned, terrible game as a whole. Millwall brought the play down to their level and we didn't have enough about us to respond, although they never got close to scoring. Lenihan and Rodwell battled well, although you could tell Rodwell was not really in synch with the rest of the defense. Raya was also OK, but apart from the goals I wouldn't say anyone else played particularly well, even Travis. Still, our attacking players bailed us out in the end, really shows the value of having plenty of players who can play a bit in the team. Millwall looked like they never could have scored goals like Armstrong's and Nuttall's (well, at least the buildup to it), too little attacking quality in their side. -

Honestly, nothing could be as bad as that! It's certainly a poor game here as well though, Milwall playing very scrappy and we're unable to take control of the game. If Armstrong is fit he needs to come on sooner rather than later. -
Perhaps I'm forgetting something obvious, but wouldn't he be our most successful international footballer as well? Turkey won the bronze medal in the 2002 world cup with Tugay in central midfield.

Shouldn't Nyambe be resting for the QPR game?

Championship 2018-19
Commondore replied to Cherry Blue's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Thought he looked highly promising when he was on loan here during the relegation season, shame how things turned out. Also, why on Earth would you replace Bruce with Moyes? What exactly would he do differently than the last regime?
