  1. Good physique, looks awkward on the ball, has an eye for goal. I think he might come good in League 1 if given time and assurance that he'll lead the line, not sure about anything above that though.
  2. The Croatian league has been in political and economic chaos for a good while though, no clubs there are in a position to reject any decent offers.
  3. Is Charlie Adam still training with the club? I didn't see his name in any of the latest two friendlies.
  4. I'm guessing he'll be one of the three attacking players behind Graham, seems to have the technique and nimbleness for it, while also serving as his main understudy in the lone striker role. I'm cautiously optimistic, although I'd be surprised if he scores more than the dozen he bagged last time around.
  5. I’ll have some of that action, do you use PayPal?
  6. Of course he has a say, but so does the people footing the bill, and there are lots of aspects even beyond that. The way this thread looks you'd think that Mowbray decides who stays and goes and sits down with agents and players himself, which hasn't happened at the top level since the days of Brian Clough et al.
  7. Lots of talk about Mowbray "handing out contracts", but surely that's the job of the owners and CEO? It's not 1972 anymore...
  8. Truly a cat-like presence on the line, and I feel that his lesser attributes could improve with training and experience. Not to mention he's an academy product. Wonder how much of the late season dropping from the team had all to do with Raya's actual performances or if he got into some kind of spat with Mowbray? I'm leaning towards the latter.
  9. I’ts the first time I’ve seen several games between South American teams in a row, the place can be truly sluggish at times only to suddenly explode into bursts of fantastic football, like with Brazil’s first goal yesterday.
  10. I'd rather have the clueless, probably half-crooked Venkys than watch Rovers become another tool for a regressive, reactionary, dictatorial regime to get fools to look at them more favorably. Regardless of financial support. YMMV.
  11. An offer is remarkable enough for a discussion, and how likely is Conway to snub anything Rovers are willing to offer him at this point? I can't see him getting any kind of deal anywhere else on this level.
  12. Conway's old thread has been archived, so I'm starting a new one here as he's seemingly being given a new contract. I think most of us on here agree that he's past his best at this point and level (although I'm happy to be proven wrong!), and the most likely reason he's being talked to for a new contract is being a positive influence on the squad in training, helping out the young players etc. I do however wonder if he could be used in a new position? He was never the fastest player and now definitely doesn't have the pace to play as winger anymore, but could he do a job at full back or central midfield? HIs shots and crosses still seems to hold up pretty well.
  13. I don't mind stuff like this on a publicity stunt level or as a way to increase international support and awareness (reading between the lines its quite clear Mowbray doesn't think the lad is anywhere near good enough for our level), just as long as it doesn't turn into a way for dodgy agents and representatives to enrich themselves of the club.
  14. "Free" transfers ar rarely cheap these days. Both Pukki and Krul have pedigree from bigger leagues than the Championship and are in their prime age-wise, agent fees and sign on fees will likely have made them much more expensive than £1.75 m.
  15. Torino are currently fifth in the Serie A, two points off a Champions League qualification with two games left. Why would they be interested in a sick note utility player from the Championship? Smells like an agent bigging him up before new contract negotiations.
  16. They absolutely battered us for the first 20 minutes, could have scored five if not for Leutwiler (although he should have saved their first) and we should probably have had a penalty against us as well as a red card on Lenihan. We couldn't deal with heir high pressing, and neither Graham nor Dack gave an outlet by running for through balls or locking the ball in their half. As mentioned above they took their foot off the gas after the second goal and we could start exploiting their tendency to commit so many players forward a bit, but all in all any points from that game would have been daylight robbery. I thought Bell had a decent game, particularly in attack, and Rothwell looked promising as a central midfielder. I also liked the look of Chapman when he came on, but he seems more like a traditional winger that goes to the byline for a cross rather than cutting infield, so he looked awkward playing on the left. Conway however looks past it on this level, certainly as a winger, and both Travis and Rodwell were well and truly overrun in midfield.
  17. Maybe I'm being thick, but do we really have a history of missing out on talent that flourishes elsewhere? Recently I can't think of anyone besides O'Connell, and historically maybe Shay Given? But that's just off the top of my head though, who am I not thinking of?
  18. How did Nuttall get on, any signs he'll be able to stay and fight for a place next season?
  19. Jack Byrne is in the Ireland squad for their qualifiers against Gibraltar and Georgia this weekend. Apparently he plays for Shamrock Rovers nowadays.
  20. First priority should be to stop shipping goals, not sure that 11 is up to that particular task. Williams and Nyambe are both full backs, Magloire is green, the midfielders are runners rather than shielders...
  21. I started writing this up and in the end landed on Mark Hughes' strongest team + pre injury Jansen instead of Bellamy, and even that's a stretch. Central midfield and full back really haven't been our strongest positions in the last 15 years or so.
  22. Connor Mahoney scored one and assisted the other goal for Brum (2-1 against Bristol City) last night.
  23. Playing for Malmö FF in the Europa League 1/16 finals against Chelseas right now.
